Small update. Paint is pretty much wrapped up and the siding should be done in another day. Carpet/Vinyl and cabinets should go in this week. The pink and green is what my daughter picked out for her room.

Your new place looks great! I've often thought of doing the same thing. The only difference for me is I would want more garage doors, but I get why you are doing it the way you are. Best wishes and I hope you get an occupancy cert soon!

Thanks! I think the CO will be about 2 days before closing but it will happen. Mini split for the garage will be delivered today.

Nice build! I was going to do the exact same thing this summer but I got quoted 300K to build it. http://www.architecturaldesigns.com/garage-plan-35245gh.asp I got 3 different contractors to quote it as well and they were all within 10K of each. I laughed and said thanks. Couldn't believe it. So I'm in the process of building a small custom 1500 sq ft (lvg space) 2bd 2bth w/ 500 sq ft of garage and a 30x50. Well and septic and I get to keep 75K. I started a month before you foundation wise and still another month out.

Again, nice build!

Thanks! It's funny you mention that plan because that exact design is what inspired my build. Good luck with your place and hopefully you'll be in and enjoying it soon.

Siding is pretty much done and I got the indoor unit installed today and the lineset hidden in the wall. I'll never do that again. Next time it will go outside and get covered with vinyl. I didn't take any pictures of the mini split but I'm sure you all have seen one. I'll try and get one tomorrow. Flooring was started Friday and will finish up Monday. Electrician is hanging my garage lights tomorrow (today) and the cabinets should go in this week as well.

If we can get the electric company to come out and hook me up to a pole we might get this thing closed on time.

Looks like I'm finally getting power today. The cabinets were installed yesterday. The yard is getting graded today, and the carpet will be finished as well.

Supposed to close a week from this coming Monday. It's going to be tight.

I'll post some pictures this evening once I can get over there today and take some.

Looking good. I'm just on the first page and had to post. The floor plan is very similar to a lot of track homes in Florida (minus walk-ins) but you have the benefits of a nice garage versus a carport.
If you move in the future, you have a rental that can bring in monthly income. You could remodel first floor and have a duplex. 2nd solution is remodel the entire place as a 2000 sq. ft. house and add a garage. 3rd solution is change it to mixed use with commercial on the first, living on the second just as they did 100 yrs ago.
Looks like you are close to closing on the place. Enjoy your home, it's yours.

Thank you. I think I will enjoy it immensely.

So much came together today. Flooring, cabinets, plumbing, and electrician all finished. It was about 8:00 when they all left so I didn't get many pictures but this is 2/3 of my garage lights turned on for the first time.

Since those guys worked late to get all finished up, did you grab them some pizza ?

Jeopardy: best of luck on the inspection. It came together very nicely. Hope you and your daughter like the new digs. It isnt a lot of fun moving or having to bring everything up a flight of stairs, but you have a nice home now.

How are the neighbors or are most of them 4 legged?

Thank you! Moving will be the worst part but it will be worth it.

I have met one of the neighbors and he is a nice guy. Just a hardworking peanut farmer. No one is really very close except the deer and Turkey. I like that.

Fingers crossed there are no major issues today.

Good, sounds like a great food supply. Plus you have a comfy elevated platform from which to shoot.

Did you plan a deer processing station down there?
Deer processing station? We call that a tree [emoji13] .

So all inspections passed. Close Thursday. This one is almost a wrap. I'll keep updating as I move stuff in the garage and get my area set up. I'll have some better pictures too.

Not field dressing... I meant the actual butchering. Stainless table, cleavers, Bone saw, grinder, chest freezer & refrigerator... It could come in handy if one of your neighbors gets out of line too. ;)

Great design. Seems like a very functional usage of space tailered to yourself vs the cookie cutter houses you see everywhere nowadays. Well Done!

Being an owner of an older home, I can certainly appreciate everything being nice and new. Looks fresh. Those drone shots are pretty neat too.

Do you know what they seeded the lawn with?

Some cheap grass seed that the deer will eat. They said they will hook me up next spring. We just had to have something down for the CO.

Great to hear! Glad you are in and the timeline seemed to pretty much hold up to the time you wanted to get in.
Thanks!

I will certainly. This weekend I'll be getting a lot done and should be able to snap a few pictures.

The only sound was the smooth rumble of the passing train.
