1st Post. You guys are awesome on the forum. I rebuilt my 1st Jeep with guidance from the Jeepforum, and now this is new favorite spot!
I have finally gotten the garage underway, as many of you, have been waiting years to do.
My man cave should be big enough for 2 vehicles and my "toys" - Really struggling on the layout as it is not complete as yet.
Here are some pics of the beginning stages....
Started with a 100+ foot White oak that had to go....saved all the other trees on my lot though. It is a ***** to get a white oak stump out with all the roots...my contractor took a 2 day *** beating before it came out.
Foundation was poured, walls were poured this past Wednesday and is currently curing.
Should back fill on Monday and have a floor poured by Wed or Thursday and the construction will begin!
Metal exterior, 2X6 construction with a 7' enclosed room with drain and sound proofing for the air compressor.

Size was based mainly on materials. I started at 22X34 (or around there) and then I got to looking at the stakes before we dug and said "I think we could go bigger". So the next size I could go with minimal waste was 24X34.
THEN, my contractor (who now quit) accidentally dug an extra foot +/- for the footings and then it just became what it is....
Needless to say my bid was gone to hell in a handbasket.

OK - metal going up tomorrow was a few days ago....however, nothing EVER goes to plan.
Anyways - got a lot of metal up today, started trenching for the main power supply.
I was less than 10' from being complete with digging and the rented trench throws the chain. UGH!!!:lol_hitti
Slowly, but surely.....

Not sure who on this forum
has the tag line...but i'm about to adopt/take it over:
Experience is what you don't get until just after you need it.

i have really been slacking in posting pics - Insulation is done, drywall is 99% done and moving to the electrical and drywall finishing.

Here are some pics of the latest progress tonight. These are the lights I got from contractorlighting.com - very happy with the people, shipping and the product so far.

Looking really good! Funny, I see your from Lake of the Ozarks. I will be there in a coupe weeks, for a couple weeks to see family for Christmas. I am from Springfield and my wife is from there and we moved to Tucson, Az a year an a half ago so she could get her PHD at the University of Arizona. Works out great so I can hold year round unlike back home. Anyways, goody see a local on here, I just found this site today...

Looks good. If you don't mind me asking, how much was the foundation work? Where my 28x34 garage is going, it's on a slope as well. Don't know if I should post an ad for free place to dump clean fill and then level and compact it or do what you did. What PSI concrete did you use?

Thanks - Everything really starts slowing down now when the major work is complete.
Electrical was finished today and I am going home to check on the furnace...so I can not freeze while I am mudding.
Now strange thoughts of a 4 post lift are running thru my mind...will it happen? dunno...

Finally, an update.

Taping and mudding are complete and today the primer got finished. Finally it is starting to look like a real garage!!

Got the 60" TV up today too - so now on to installing my air lines.

Tom_20m - my apologies. Didnt see the question in your post.
not sure what PSI the concrete was - but foundation was pretty pricey - for all the footings and concrete along with a 6-7" floor was around $10K
I had them dig into the face of the hill and we used that for the back fill. Plus I had some concrete laying around that was good fill as well.

Garage is coming out really good! Nice to see you can fit the Jeep under the Vette and still have some extra room. How many feet is the ceiling?

12' to the walls, then I followed the collar ties up to the ridge cap with drywall so it left a 14' ceiling in the center,
PLENTY of room above the car though
