Hello fellow members. I had my 30x032x10 pole barn built in January 2012. I am finally getting around to ordering a metal ceiling and hanging the insulation. I have confirmed with the builder that my trusses can support either a metal or sheet rock ceiling.
My question is that when I called to inquire on pricing the 29 gauge (ceiling liner panels), and informed them that my span between each truss is 4' and that I am installing R30 fiberglass batts on top of the metal, he didn't think the metal could support the weight/span. This company actually deals in discounted or "seconds" metal. I called their sister company, which is well known pole barn builder and asked them, and they said that the 29 gauge metal and insulation on top would be fine.
Has anyone hung 29 gauge metal liner panels that span at least four feet, and if so were there any issues? Do you have insulation on top?
Happy New Year and thanks in advance!
Jeff
