I have a bunch of older USA 3/4" and 1" drive stuff. It's all peachy-keen.

For the chrome, odds are I could have gotten by with Horrible Fright instead, since I use them more with my ball joint press than on a ratchet. I use the impact stuff with my swench occasionally, and it's probably good to have quality there. The 1" drive Swench hammers pretty hard.

Don’t need to go large on 3/4” sockets. These are JET, offshore brand I got 30 years ago. I never broke a ratchet or socket even with 3’ cheater bar

I was given a "Thorsen" set from a retiree. Works well, and the common ones that have been abused were replaced with tool truck brands. I did replace the stock ratchet with a Matco one a few years ago since the Thorsen seemed to skip occasionally.

Snap-On doesn't have 30mm ? You have to be kidding, that's a size as common as dirt. It's the nut size for 20mm.

Taiwan my guess although JET had their line of products manufactured in China, France and Russia as well.

There's so much mass in most 3/4 drive sockets that even the cheap overseas ones typically perform well. That being said, mine are Proto and Armstrong for the most part, with a couple of Craftsman and SK sprinkled in to fill in the gaps.

3/4" and 1" drive stuff is crazy expensive new, but dirt cheap on the secondary market. I bought a whole set of Proto Professional on Craigslist for less than a Harbor Freight set costs.
