OK, I think that I can post pictures now. Here is my build. I was a little lax on the pictures but here we go. We got the one of the largest rainfalls in history as soon as we started!

Looking good so far! Question, Did you draw up your own plans or did you buy/find plans on the net or out of a book? I really like the side access garage door.

I'm in the planning stages myself for a garage build much like yours. I'm planning on a 30'x40' or 30'x50' with room-in-attic trusses.

I'll be following this build for ideas and inspiration!

I'll put some more up in the next couple of days. The roof shingles are on today and the windows are in. Stairs should be about finished in a few days. Brick is delivered tomorrow.

I did my own plans so-to-speak. Just measurements and drawing. The trusses were built and certified for the span. So far, I forgot to put the electrical conduit and water in thru the block. I'll have to do that the hard way. Here is where we are so far. Waiting on the brick because it is so cold this week.

The smooth coat popped up in that area. I found a little place and picked it out as far as I could. I figured that if I could get it up, it would come up on it's own sooner or later.
The rust is from where tie box blade was sitting.

Here are a few from today. It's been COLD here since last week. The brick guy built a cover for the side of the building and heated it. It finally got to cold for them to work and for the morter. Since then the wind has torn down the tent. It worked while they were in it (60 degrees).
The electrician did get most of the rough in done.
I'm looking for a thaw later this week.

Nice build. Like the look of the brick too.

I would probably not mess with the floor and just do a nice epoxy to cover the floor, problem solved.

I really like the three door idea. Looks great.

Thanks! The two large doors face south and the third faces north east. I should get good ventilation in the summer. One end bay is a wash/storage bay. The third bay will someday have a lift. I still have a ways to go and the weather here has been awful.

I am very jealous of the storage room. I wish I could have afforded the second floor bonus room. Not in the budget; looks great man

If you don't mind me asking, how much did all of your brick-work cost? My house is brick as well and I have been going back and forth on wether to brick the front and do siding on the the sides and back or brick the entire thing.

With the sand, morter, oversize brick, steel, wall ties, nails, and labor it is close to 10 grand. The window treatment and corners ate up a lot of brick because you can only use a portion of each brick. It made a good match with the house though and looks like it belongs on the same lot. The labor price per thousand here is 600 to 650. This guy included the corner and window work to get the job. (things have changed!) I ended up giving him a nice tip because he did a nice job and pushed through the bad weather.

Things have been moving slowly. It's amazing that, with the building slowdown, its hard to get contractors to call back or show up when they tell you they are. Garage door guy was on time and working today though!

Great build. Good job with keeping us up to date with the pictures too. I am also thinking of doing a 30x40-48 depending on the price of brick. With your post you've given me some real numbers to work with. Thank you!

Brassspike, Looking at post #6 there is a picture looking up the stairs at the trusses. I assume you skipped a truss where the stairs are? Did you double truss both sides of that opening? Is that a 2x6 or 2x4 that spans between the trusses? Also what is the size of your overhead doors?

Trusses were doubled on the right side of that picture. The bridging is 2x6 on the roof and 2x8 on the rafters. trusses are on 16" centers, walls are 2x6 on 16".

The doors are copay double steel 9x12 on the end two and 9x10 on the side. They are up now and I'll take some more pictures tomorrow if the rain will let up. We should have the electricity on tomorrow. At least an outlet or two.

If there is any particular view that you want, let me know.

I did get an estimate for the water lines inside...almost 2 grand and thats with no fixtures, water heater or any drains at all! Looks like I'll be learning how to use PEX next week after the air lines are finished.

Its been a while since I've had time to post on this. Getting the partial contractor done and gone was a chore. Work ethic around here isn't much:(
I had to do the interior myself and am finishing the trim now. I have lights..bigtime! I asked the electrician to give be plenty of light and now I can tan in there! I have 10 T-5 fixtures with six bulbs each. I usually only use one row while working on the building. I did the plumbing and insulation myself. Those contractors either wouldn't show or were stupid high priced. I had a quote of 2 large for the plumbing and did it myself for under $300. PEX is the way to go!
I'll have some better picts later but here are a few that I took tonight when I knocked off. Includes the two security systems.

brasspike: Just wondering what size blocks are those for your foundation? I am in the process of planning for my garage and will use 2x6 constuction for framing, but 8x16" block would not fit right.

6" block will make your walls flush with the block so there will be no lip. I used 5/8 sheathing for the interior walls so that laps over the block for a more finished look. If you like, I can take some pictures and post next week?
