Well, it's taken a year, but my shop is in a "finished" state. I supposed they're never finished, but at some point they become fully useable. Moved in here a year ago, Oct 1st. 30 x 40 pole building on site, built and partially finished by the previous owner.
I've posted a few bits and pieces here along the way, but here's a review.
The rear 16' of the building was done up as a woodworking shop by the previous owner. Very well done, well insulated, lot's of electric etc, and a loft storage area above. I now use it for my machine/workshop area.

That was pretty much it for last fall and through winter. Not much you can do when it's 20 below zero and snow clear to your gnads.......
Come April work started on the remaining 24x30 section.

Which put us at this point:
And then, starting 2 days after the concrete was poured, everything went to hell.
First there was the tornado, which took place 2 days after the concrete was poured. Thankfully relatively minor, only about $12,000 worth of damage, but took almost exactly 2 months to get everything back to where we were before. Tons of firewood to cut, split and stack, hired a contractor to fix the building damage, general cleanup etc. It was a royal pain but some things came out for the better.

Our storageshed/woodshed took the worst of the damage, but came back in much better shape. Sorry for the crappy new version pic:

New version, courtesy of the Tornado and State Farm Insurance, and a few days of painting by myself and the wife...........
There's approx. 5-6 cords of firewood stacked in there, courtesy of the tornado.
Ok, so now we can get back to business right??
Not, mid-July the wife gets laid off from her work.
Doh!! What kinda kink is that gonna put in the plans!!??
As it turns out, we figured out that we were ******* away alot of money each month. After a couple months with her on layoff we realized that things weren't as bad as we thought they might be, and with her off work and available to help, I could proceed with the shop renovations.
Started with hanging 2x4 perlins between the rafters to hang the ceiling from, and more between the posts on the outside walls, not only to hold the wall sheeting, but also to provide some support for R19 insulation batts.
Alos roughed in all the wiring for the lighting, 9 4' t8 flourescents, 120V outlets, 2- 220V 50 amp welder outlets and a dedicated 40A compressor drop.
Unfortunately I failed to take many pics along the way, but do have some finished pics:
First, a quick shot of the temporary scaffolding I built, which was invaluable for this project. Working on 12' ceilings is a pain on a ladder. In most cases I could pull myself around the shop as I worked, just dont forget to get all your tools before you climb up. This also made it possible for the wife to help, she's terrified of ladders but was reasonably comfortable holding up ceiling sheets once she climbed up.
In this pic you can see the radiant connections in the corner, as well as the stairway to the 16x30 cold storage loft above the back room. The stairway is hinged so it will lift up against the ceiling(as soon as I engineer a way to lift it again)
The compressor tank in the corner is soon to receive a new pump. Another benefit(?) to the tornado was that I ended up with much nicer doors. The originals got kinked all the way up the middle, they were insulated also, but these are the next step up, full steel wrapped and R10 or 12 insulated.
Walls are R19 batts covered by 1/2 foam board, just a bit more insulation, plus deadens the rattle of the steel a bit.
Insulation note: There's 16" of blown-in fiberglass above the ceiling, which btw was much cheaper to have done professionally than I could have bought the insulation myself. $850 for this ceiling, plus doubling the insulation in the house attics, of which our utility company will currently pay 70% of, so the blown-in will cost me approx. $250 out of pocket.
Just a couple items of note here. The previous owner installed a dedicated 200amp service to this building, the only thing they did wrong was failing to set the box back flush with the wall posts, they surface mounted it, which meant I had to build a wiring/conduit "chase" around the box. Works out OK as it provides easy access for future upgrades.
Also notice the stub wall between the lower wall and the ceiling. This was my solution for an alignment issue between the existing wall and the bottom of the trusses 2' above. The first 4' on each end is hinged so that I flip them up and store long items out in the low areas under the roof trusses.
