I am new to the site. My son told me about it so I joined. Here is my new shop going up. I prepped the site and drilled the 18" dia. x 4' deep holes, and poured 10" deep footers. Then I had an Amish crew put it up and finish the roof. The building has trusses 2' on center and 5/8" osb board under a metal roof. Now I am framing in the windows that I scored off Craigslist. Am sheeting the sides with osb and will use vinyl siding to match the house.

It is 30' deep x 48' wide x 10' tall. There are three bays. The left and center bays have 10' x 8' doors and teh right bay has a 10' x 9' door. The right bay has vaulted trusses for a 13' peak to allow room for a lift.

The last picture here is the end of the second day the Amish worked on it. they did a lot of work in a short time and an excellent job at that.

Very nice. You can't beat the space/dollar value of a pole barn. I like mine a lot.... 30 x 48 also.. :bounce:

Thanks Cletus66. I saw your posts about your metal ceiling yesterday and am considering that for mine as well. Just need this rain to stop so it will dry up again.

Nice barn Project Junkie, I'll be following along to see what you do with it.. I have two
cars shoved into mine, but it still has a dirt floor, along with plenty of remnant horse and
cow turds, that I haven't cleaned out yet.. :) Not to mention cracks in the dirt that you
could step in and break an ankle.

Cletus66, yours gives me hope that I can make something out of mine.. :)

Thanks richtersrodz. I have a long way to go until it is an actual shop. 3 days of rain here in Ohio has slowed down progress. I should have the floor poured next Tuesday.

That'll be a nice work space. Looks like you have some some old "patients" waiting to be restored. That fastback looks mean just resting there! Look forward to more pics.

The pics with the cars in it are Cletus66's. Mine is no where close to that point yet. And yes that fastback caught my eye as well. My first car was a 65 Mustang. Wish I still had that car now.

Here is an update. With the help of my Son and my Dad, we got some more windows framed, OSB sheeting on, walls wrapped, and the big window in the vaulted end installed. The front window is framed and after the picture was taken, we got that wall and the door wall wrapped as well. Will get those installed tomorrow night after work. Then I have 3 more windows to frame on the other end. Won't be long and will be putting on the siding. :)

Thanks nighttrain. Looks like we will get some nice weather mid-week, so planning to take a day off and hit it hard. Should be putting on vinyl siding by then.

Cletus: Is that metal ceiling made for garages or ? 4x8 sheets or ? fastened to the trusses with ? Wasn't sure if these are pre-made panels or an application for something
else.
Thanks

Thanks JC23. I was able to get a great deal off of Craigslist on all my windows. The first 16' of the building from that end has vaulted trusses. That first bay will have a vehicle lift in it. That window is right beside the lift.

The front window and the man door installed tonight; but, it was dark when I finished so will have to wait until tomorrow after work to take more pics. Tomorrow night I will start the framing for the last 3 windows in the other end wall.

Thanks. We are getting soome great weather here in Ohio the next couple of days. So I am taking a vacation day on Wednesday. I am anxious to start putting the vinyl siding on. And my wife is anxious for me to get the boxes of siding out of the attached garage so she can park her car inside again. :)

Here are some updated pics. Here are a couple of the inside as well, showing the vaulted ceiling end with the big window. Will post more tomorrow night.

vntperfomance - They are treated 2x10's or 2x12's, not sure which. It is typical pole barn construction. The key is to make sure you have good drainage away from the building and it really isn't much of an issue. Foundation costs for a pole building is significantly less than conventional construction. So it is treadeoff.

Understandable.

Mind if I ask how much in the end everything ran you $$?

You have a very nice looking start there. The weather, well the rain is really making October a sucky month here in Ohio, about 7-8 nice days all month.

I'd guess, all closed in by the first snow and you'll be out there all winter working on the inside of it ?

We didn't get to the vinyl siding today, but we did get the left end closed in and all the windows are now installed. Just need to trim out the three garage doors and then we can start puting the vinyl on.

Here are some updated pics. My younger son Josh helped me today. He did a great job.

This is exactly what I am wanting to do!! I would love to know a round about figure as well that is setting you back. I will be doing all the work as you are minus the concrete of course.

Love the Fastback, looks like '67?

My dream was to restore a '68 Fastback, well since the "gone in 60 seconds" and those Fastbacks have shy rocketed in price.

scjeepr - Thanks....and I don't mind sharing what it costs. Let me see where I am "when the dust settles" and I will post a summary of the costs with some details as to what was hired done and what I did myself so it won't mislead anyone. So keep checking back once i a while.

This is the 3rd building I have built and I would like to think that I finally have honed in on some good concepts based on my intended purpose for the building. That is to build some project vehicles (or actually finish some), and fab up stuff and fix stuff when it breaks.

kyles974 - The fastback is cletus66's. I know what you mean. I had a 65 coupe for my first car and also had a 67 fastback at one time. I wish I still had both of them.

No new pics yet. It got dark before I finished yesterday due to Daylight Wasting Time. I nearly have the rear all sided and about halfway up the big window on the end. Tonight I should get the rear wall finished and move back to the end wall. Will try to get some pics tonight before it gets dark.

Here are some pics I took when I got home from work today. The siding color is clay to match the house. After I took the pics, I did get the back finished all but the last strip that needs to be cut at 2 1/2" I will get back to that later. Tomorrow night I will get some more done on the end wall.

royalton10 - Yes and Yes. I am going to have a wall split off the end bay where you see the exhaust fan. That bay will be 14' wide and primarily for storage of stuff that rolls. That way when I need to paint something I can roll everything out of there and use it for a paint booth so the main shop doesn't get overspray all over it. That partition wall will have a 6' openning in it with 2-3' doors to make it easy to move things back and forth like the engine hoist. My welding area will be against the partion wall right beside the doors. So when I am welding I can open the door slightly and get some air movement to pull the fumes away.

And thanks for the compliment.
