I'm a big fan of wood B&B siding (hence my shop siding lol) so it's really nice to see someone else using it! Your shop looks really good.

What are your plans for finishing the siding?

I have a few 5 gallons of clear wood sealer (can't recall the brand) that I'll be using for now. We don't mind the wood graying naturally with a little added sealer protection.

Not sure where in NY you are but my guess is upstate judging by the snowfall. We haven't had much here down state except for Tuesday. Anyway, the shop is beautiful and fits the landscape very nicely. Can't wait to see it finished.

I'm finally almost done wiring the place. I had it all done and then realized I wanted some more 220v outlets as well as exterior outlets so I went back through once more to get those in. I can't believe how much wire I used- all the regular wall outlets are on two circuits and alternate circuits every other outlet (for the quad outlets I actually ran two different circuits in the quad box just because I'm mental). Four 240v circuits right now (one dedicated for the dust collector, then three others throughout). I even bought a 8' diameter ceiling fan and wired up that box. Last thing I have to do wiring wise is to hang some lights in the lean to portion but there's no rush on that.

After wiring I insulated the ceiling (r-30) and next I'll do the walls before hanging 6mil poly for a vapor barrier.

I debated back and forth for quite some time on what material to use on the interior walls (drywall, plywood, osb, T&G, etc) but ended up on getting a good price on some spalted red pine T&G boards milled from standing dead trees. Not sure what sort of finish I'll put on it, but the guy I bought it from had some done with regular poly and it looked great. I figured a little wood character in a woodshop would be slick.

Still unsure what to do on the ceiling, but I'll do that at a later date anyway.

Well I'm looking forward to seeing that wood on your walls, that should be a really nice finish.
Me too- I couldn't justify the price for T&G originally but found a guy who milled and dried this himself so the price was lower. Plus, he happened to have just about the right square footage remaining so I couldn't say no.

Your not ventilating the roof deck? or leaving a 2" air gap?
Yes- there is an air gap in the scissor trusses between the top side of the insulation and the roof sheathing as well as soffit/ridge vent as appropriate to move air up there. It just doesn’t look like it in the photo.

Looking great so far! I’m nailing the heck out of it. Narrow boards get 2 16ga face nails and the wider boards get 3 face nails. Sturdy enough- plus if I anchor shelving I know where the horizontal girts are to fasten to anyway. IMG_1939.jpegIMG_1940.jpeg
