36x47 workshop
I finally ran out of space in my previous 3 car garage and got a new place with 3 garages. A 2 car, 4 car and the topic of this thread, 36x47.
It's a Wick pole building and I'm going to be preparing it for use as my new workshop for building my 57 Eldorado Brougham.
Good part is I have some tools already. 2 post lift, tig welder, mag brake, bead roller, band saw/etc.
Bad news is this is just a basic building and is going to require a lot of work to get into usable shape.
First problem is, only 8ft walls. I debated on how to address this for a long time and finally decided to leave most of the building as-is but replace the last 3 trusses in the building with laminated plywood trusses from Starwood.
Plan is to sister them to the existing trusses then remove everything from the original trusses except the top chords.
This will give me another 41 inches of clearance at the center of the building.
2 post lift will then of course be centered under the peak of the building and oriented towards the back wall. (I'll have 7-8ft between the front of the car and the wall).
Going to spray foam the building and leave the ceiling/trusses exposed but painted.
I'm also considering 36ft long LVL's to put up next to the lower chords of the first 2 trusses in order to have some storage above.
That's it for now I suppose. Just thought I would start a thread since I finally ordered the trusses and will be making some process.
