Well I basically had both planers torn down, cleaned out and reassembled today, with the better parts going to my machine of course. Filled up the compressor and blew out the remaining stubborn saw dust from both machines. Changing the belts was much more involved then I thought.

For those interested you have to remove the gear/lock bar to access the top pulley, loosen the tension bolt and then take off the belt. Its not hard to do, just lots of pieces to remove to get to it.

Now I just need to test them both out and make sure they are running good.

I picked up another delta 4" jointer the other day and it has a 1hp westinghouse 3450 rpm motor. It's rusty but newer (assembled in mexico with us components). I am debating keeping it over my current jointer motor which is a nice looking craftsman 1/2 hp 3450 motor.

I fired up the westinghouse and it sounds fine to me but have no experience with them at all. The craftsman came with my craftsman sander but I slowed that down with a 1750 3/4. I still don't have much experience with the jointer but it did slow down a bit when face planing .
