I've got an Atlas Pro 9000 4-post lift with the 120v motor and the manual states it requires a 30 amp breaker, even though the plug is a standard 120v outlet 3 prong. I called support and they only recommended worrying about it if you notice the breaker tripping a lot. So far, it seems to be tripping a fair amount.
I think what I'd like to do is build an extension cord with 2 duplex outlets and mount it with a magnet on the post with the pump. I was thinking to get an RV 30 amp extension cord, chop the end off, and wire it to a 4x4 box, mounting it to the post with neodymiuim magnets. I would then need to run a 10/2 outlet on the back wall to plug into. Is this overkill?
Should I just use a 20 amp cord since it's really the initial surge from the lift that causes the tripping? What are other folks doing in this situation?
