I've had a few blasters in the past.. Tons of fun and stupid easy to work on, parts are also cheap and plentiful.
With these little 2 strokes, you just got to get used to pressing the gas and you get nothing - nothing - and GO!
The oil pumps go out in these, but it looks like the oil tank has already been removed from under the rear fender, so just premix it.. Riding wheelies would starve the oil feed when the level was low as well, better off without it.
For reference if you haven't had blasters before, a banshee rear axle is a direct fit and widens the rear about 3-4 inches, and most people flip the front wheels which will widen the track up front. Cheap mods that make the stance a bit more stable.
They feel faster than they are, but are nimble and lightweight you can use your *** to steer it which is fun.. These love to rev and hate putting along, keep it wound up and screaming.. It's no 250R but is still, well, a Blast!
The new body style 03+ is just a new nose/headlight and front disc brakes, both are a direct fit if you grab the parts off ebay. The front drums on the old ones don't work very well and once they are wet they pretty much don't do anything..
I see complete, running blasters in good shape sell for $700-$1100ish, the new body style can get a quite a few hundred more if its super clean..
Have fun!!
