Only 2 guys in the bidding over 30 dollars. One guy prob put 500 dollars on auto and the other guy is making him pay. It stopped being about the hammer at 30 dollars.

I would have sold it for 5 dollars, lol

I know!! I would have too. I might have not even gave 5 dollars for it.....LOL
OMG, and there is 33 bids, and up to $406.00.
For me, looking at the pictures, it don't look like anything special.
That's the trouble sometimes. You don't know what something is worth.
Wonder how many, if any, things I sold for a few bucks, and the people turned around and got big bucks for them?

Thanks, Tony

Proto auto body hammers are very high quality, great steel, great handle, feels good in your hand...

but these hammers usually sell for $40 to $70...there seems nothing special...steel and wood by Proto....maybe it was used to fix car used in the Green Hornet movie?...

the sad thing is the buyer only has feedback of 3. The prior bidder has over 800+ Its going to **** when the new guy does not pay and walks away from his/her ebay account.

Thanks for the heads up hiball.
Gonna try and get a piece of that ebay action with mine.
And let it be known, I was not the one who filed down the one end, it came in a lot of hammers that way.

i bet 1 guy was originally bidding and accidently submitted a $500 bid instead of $50.

if he is a very well known ebay user with good stats he probably set up a dummy account and bid against it so it doesn't hurt his good account

Why is everyone assuming there is shill bidding going on??...or is that just the normal reaction when something goes above what they would pay??

If that's the case almost every auction I lost had shill bidding

That's the super duper special hammer made of depleated uranium. I think Bull must need it to fill his tool board:lol_hitti

Once the Blackhawk insanity is over, I do have a set of nine or ten vintage Proto tool boards to fill. I don't believe there is one for hammers, which is good, because the slot for this particular hammer would never be filled at these prices!

There was a whole group of these Proto hammers from the same seller. They are in almost "like-new" condition. These Proto hammers are some of the nicest metal working hammers that were ever made. I imagine someone bought these for their collectible value and is betting on future value increases, if they don't go up in value they still bought a very, very fine tool.
