Seems cheap.Seems about right to me, if not on the low side. That's a lot of work and a lot of concrete.
Getting another quote?
I'd be happy with that price with me doing the dirt work even.WITH gravel, forms, and even foam!?! Thats a great price for nowadays around here.
Ideally you should get 2 other quotes.Ty for the great replies. Virginia Northern Neck. The guy came recommended from a close friend. Still wanted to double with y’all but seems like it’s a reasonable quote. Thank you all for the feedback!
Not a lot of meat on this bone and placing a slab that big would be a disaster to diy for nearly everyone. Short of having a skid steer and a dump truck, I don't see much savings opportunityThis is why sweat equity, having the tools and knowledge are so vitally important to keep the wallet shut.
Will get additional quotes. The concrete guy also does his own site work. He’s poured slabs in the area for over 40 yearsIdeally you should get 2 other quotes.
Who is doing the site work, and how will that gravel be compacted?
Not necessarily the slab work but some of the prep work. Not a lot of meat on this bone and placing a slab that big would be a disaster to diy for nearly everyone. Short of having a skid steer and a dump truck, I don't see much savings opportunity
Around here most of the contractors won't touch it if they don't get to do it all. The main money is in the site work not the actual pour and finish work, plus they don't want to be held responsible for any issues that may arise due to poor site work. Not necessarily the slab work but some of the prep work.
What prep are you thinking of to do without equipment? Not necessarily the slab work but some of the prep work.
Fortunately there are guys around here that will come and do a pour/finish for a Saturday cash side job.Around here most of the contractors won't touch it if they don't get to do it all. The main money is in the site work not the actual pour and finish work, plus they don't want to be held responsible for any issues that may arise due to poor site work.
