I'm in northern ny. It's a monolithic slab so I will be good with frost. Yeah I'll post pics of the pole up later today. Working on getting the front wall done. It's a little slower with just my wife and I working. Instead of having it monitor style it's just going to be a clear span 48 ft. I'm going to have half attic trusses in the back half of the upstairs. Room will be 12' wide and 7'8" tall so I'm plenty happy with that

I'm going to be putting osb up on the inside walls and ceiling but I was thinking that I could install some spacers btw my studs where I plan on having shelves for some extra support. Have any of you done this in the past? Any recommendations?

Fixed a window opening that I put the stud on the wrong side of the line and cut header to fit opening not what I should of been. Oops. Just have to finish putting on top plate and square it up. Then it's perlins time!! Can't wait

No comments since the 5th. Wow

Got all my trusses up yesterday. Was my first time doing this. I have done rafters many times but not this. We had a slow start due to the weather but after we got going it was a great day!! Humidity lifted and a bunch of friends showed up

1st gable truss getting picked up

Had to slide it through my door opening because the boom wasn't long enough to set from the front.

First two attic trusses going up

Got them all up

Having a couple drinks to celebrate

Garage all sided and weather tight.

Got all my lights up and got a good portion of my osb hung.

Took a nice well needed break from the garage. It's been way too cold out there and got back into riding this year. So far logged 1200 miles on my ole skidoo. Red one is the wife's. As it's starting to warm back up I'll be posting more

Well done, that really gives one shop envy. I was measuring the space I currently have to work with last night in preparation for starting on a pole building. It won't be anywhere close to that size though. 24 x 32 is the space I currently have to work with.

That's a really great shop--nice aesthetics too... Do you have plans that you'd be willing to share? Possibly what something like that cost you from beginning to end with concrete and all in?

I don't have any plans just what I sketched up. As far as prices. Mine are a lot higher than someone who was on flat ground. I had to bring 100+ loads of gravel in to level off my field. Before I poured concrete I was 10k deep. From memory here are some prices:

Shell including 1/2 attic trusses is 25k. I didn't pay any labor. Just beer and food
Insulation under slab was 3k
Pex 400 off craigslist
Wiremesh and rebar 400??
Concrete killed me @8k
16' floor drain down the middle was $200
I bought 2 units of osb for ceiling and walls @ $750 per unit
Lights I went with t5 ho's from lowes $500
Wiring 150 off craigslist except 220v wiring

I haven't insulated yet but I'm estimating 4k for all the cellulose. I'm dense packing my walls and blowing 18" in my attic.

I stil have to add outside lights and paint the whole interior.

All in all I'm about 45k deep in my garage. I pd for a lul for 1/2 day with my trusses and for steel to be on room and sides.( not good with hights as I used to be)
Any more questions let me know. I'll gladly answer

Installing garage door openers this weekend. What size horse openers would you use for a 12x10 insulated door and a 9x8 insulated door? I'm thinking 3/4 horse and 1/2 horse. To keep them the same prolly chain drive for both. Any thoughts???

^ ^ If normal garage door opener, then Chamberlain belt drive. Totally quiet and last forever.

OP . . . Have you looked into high-rise door tracks and side-mount openers ?? That setup is the cat's meow and provides great clearance while also eliminating the obstruction of the opener hanging right there in middle of garage.

Great building! Had you done plex floor tubing before? Is it complicated to do or do you recommend having it hired out? Rookie here.

It ***** you didn't get to do the timberframe garage. I would have loved to have seen that. I bought a mill a couple months ago and have really been getting into it. Awesome garage though. Wish mine was that big!

This was my first time doing pex but my neighbor has done quite a bit of it. It's really not hard to do. Biggest thing is making sure your loops are the same length and planning out your runs. It takes some playing around and a lot of zip ties!!! I wouldn't hire it out. Look online for the programs that lay it out for you

I had a great time milling all my beams. It was my first time really using a mill. I was amazed at all the boards that I got off the logs making the beams. I would of liked the Timberframe but I think I'll be happier with the clear span

Yeah I core filled every 4' of my walls. Pushed in anchor bolts and attached my sill plate.

The garage is filling up already. I have my big *** tractor in there and sleds and all my ice fishing stuff. I have to get it organized once I finish hanging my osb and what not

I have to ask why a belt drive? I would think that the belt would stretch out wheres a chain wouldn't. What's the advantage to belt?

I'm curious about how the permitting worked for the timberframe garage when you were planning on going that route. Did you have to get the beams stamped? Did you have to have engineered plans? Just all things I'm curious about now that I'm planning things to build in the future. Thanks for your help!

I had a timber framer draw it all up on his computer and gave the drawing/blue print to the inspector. Beams didn't have to be stamped or engineered plans. I'm willing to bet the drawings I got were as good if not better than from an engineer. Minus the engineer stamp.

garage is coming slowly but its getting there. I got my sofit and facia on finally. Just put up a few LED lights on the front of garage and built my first set of stairs up to the top of the garage. Wasnt too hard but took me a few layout attempts to get my "stoppers" on the correct side of my square. ill upload some pics later today.

I found out im going to be a dad this year so i want to get this garage done sooner rather than later
