Very nice build. How are you liking the sky lights? And which direction do they face?

Thanks guys, it's getting there.

I wouldn't worry about the table pulling the wall down so much as out if there is any point in the opening of the table that 500lbs is pulling sideways on that wall.

The table pivot point will be lagged to the saddle. The pivot point for the table will be 2 inches above the saddle. Something like this:

What a great space! I'm looking forward to pics once you get the build finished and have everything moved in.
Thanks, you're not the only one. I'll be sure to post them.

I like the sky lights alot. I was very surprised at the amount of light they let in with a south-eastern exposure.

I like the shop alot. The height makes it seem even bigger.

Awesome garage you got!!!

Thanks guys, I'm slowly working my way through the project list. I refinished one of the Vidmar cabinets that I got from another GJ member. Same as the Kennedy box refinish, the paint is Ace Hardware's RustStop paint in Satin Dark Bronze rolled on with 1/2 nap paint roller. Over rolling gives the paint a texture that hides the dings and scratches. The top is a Woodcraft 30x60 1 3/4 maple top split in half. The Vidmar measures 30x28 so trimming the top leaves a little under two inches of wood left over for a backstop. I attached the backstop with 3 wood screws screwed from the bottom up.

The loft hoist is in and I'm working on the loft railings, the sink cabinets are in, working on refinishing 5 Equipto small parts cabinets, and got sidetracked with a Columbian vise resto. I know....pics or it didn't happen. I'll grab some photos this weekend.

How did the 1.5 ton mini split do this summer?

No problem, dropped the temps rapidly at the floor level. The loft area was a different story. I was surprised at the temp differential between the top of the garage and the floor. I'm considering putting the dehumidifier in the loft where it'll make a bigger impact. Another project for later.

I'd love to see updates! Especially some shots of the completed recessed welding table
The welding table stalled when I had the first plate on the waterjet at TechShop and saw the cost. It was cheaper to buy the plates from stronghand. Plan B is to mag drill the plates. Plan C use the HF nomad table tops instead. I haven't made up mind yet. The project is inline behind a few others. :)

Any before shots of the shop?

Surprisingly, no. I've got some photos of the demo but not a lot of the original garage. The photos I had from when we bought the house got lost in a PC crash.

Here's one from when the Mustang was delivered.

The original garage dimensions were 31x21. The ceiling was 8 ft on one corner to about 7.5 ft on the back corner in front of the mustang due to roof sag. The slab was sinking in the back corner as well which gave a slight front to back slope.

Finally got the welding table in-still needs legs added but I'm happy. I went with a custom table from weldtables.com. It weighs a little over 200 pounds and raises/lowers with one hand. I'm using gate springs that I bought from a trailer place online. I had planned to use wall bracing but thinking about legs instead.

Got the lift installed as well

Thanks guys, I got the table from here: weldtables.com. I designed it to fit the cutout and sent the files. They laser cut it and shipped it to me to weld together.
