My problem is as a Forklift tech, I work on anything from a manual pallet jack which usually is just hammers, and long pin punches to change wheels, to 15,000 lbs cap. Turbo charged desiel, with everything from a 3/8 wrench/socket to a 2 1/2 socket/wrench, plus hammers, pry bars, crow bars, allens wrenchs, all pliers(I have all 5 sizes of Knipex ) and screw drivers, porta power, come along, gas air compressor, dewalt 18vt drill, grinder, 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 impact, dewalt 18vt grinder, gear pullers, bearing pullers, brake tools, full set of air tools..............
Then with Electric lifts, to the above add full electrical tools, plus propane tourch, solder, crimp on ends, butane soldering iron, small butane tourch for heat srink.....................
I travel 200 mile radius, and NEVER know what I'll work on next. I may not go to the shop for 2 weeks or more.
I'm not a IT guy that can carry a brief case of tools and have everything needed.
If I had not been buying tools since I was 8 years old, I'd be in a world of hurt, having to buy everything I would need all at once. Well actually, my Dad, every time, we would go to the auto parts store, would tell me to pick a tool off the "Any Tool, 1.99, 3.99, 6.99" sale tray, and he would buy it.
My 1st job was keeping gocarts working, a a rental track. I was 15, and furnished my own tools. Made a buck a hour. I'm 60 now.
BOY, this reply got long.......
