5" random orbital corded sander... mostly for metal finishing

Looking to add a corded Ø5" random orbital sander to my fleet and it's mostly going to be used for metal finishing instead of woodworking. So the vacuum and bag system really isn't a priority, but, it will get used on any odd job that comes up. The abrasive media will primarily be 3M Stikit PSA discs which do not have the dust collection holes. I have a plan to adapt the Velcro sander base plate so I can use the stick-on sanding discs, so that's not an issue. I don't have the CFM to run air tools.

My initial front-runner was the Metabo/Hitachi HPT SV13YST. $82 Canuckistanian Copeks on the ol' ScAmazon right now.

What other options should I be looking at? Must be corded, must be Ø5" - buy once, cry once, I'd like a tool that is comfortable to use that I will keep around for a long time that doesn't cost more than a couple cases of beer.

Have you looked into burnishing tools. I use mine all the time for finishing and sanding metals.

I like the Bosch GET65-5N sander. I have found it to be an effective tool on both wood and metal

Not sure how many high-quality power tools ever cost only two cases of beer, but...

I mean, do you cry over the cost after you drank two cases of beer?

I have a Makita i'm fond of, but it uses Velcro, suspect they make a PSA version.

Older “Professional” US made power tools used to routinely cost less than $200, with many at $150.
That might have been more than the cost of two cases of “standard beer”, but it was still somewhat affordable.
I think my USA made Dewalt random orbit sander was $90, snd I still have it and use it.

For hobby use you will never wear one out. They are built like tanks. I think we had 6-7 in use full time, and I think they would go
3 years or so before they started needing parts and service. Mostly bearings and brushes, some of the older ones had to have the
commutators turned down. P-C's routers are really good as well.

I believe the half sheet version is the 505. That is one sweet little number right there. Completely devoid of any vibrations when in use.

both a bit more $ than your proposed budget but both hit way above their weight ie worth the extra cost
