They sent 5 or 6 guys Wednesday, tapering off to 4. All equipment was out, new equipment in by end of day. Some ducting out. Thursday one guy shows, eventually 4 guys. Ducting almost done, worked until 7:30. Friday 2 guys show at 7AM, attic cleaned out, system running heat or cool and they are gone by 10AM. Final cleanup guy comes at 3PM to take the rest of the debris. Of course. Did it go without a hitch? I had to complain a little, then I really got 'em nervous and on the phone: I started helping. Had to help the last guy load the junk because he brought a 5lb truck for 10lbs of ****. I didn't care by then as the new system is so much better--so quiet you can't tell if it's running unless you are in line with a duct. Much more air where I need it, without much of a sacrifice in other rooms. Next time I will plan it ahead and not wait for it to quit during the summer. (sure I will....) It's bad too pay to much, so bad on me. It's worse to pay too little as my constant service call neighbor has learned. Somewhere out there is the right amount. There's a lot right with this system, the installation and the prompt install. The price was high, but that's the breaks when you ignore those dimming lights on start up and don't notice the run time creeping up to get the place cool. I was in a moderate panic due to pending surgery, but due to what is being termed "vascular insufficiency", I did not have the surgery as my foot was swollen enough to cause it to fly around the room if cut into. Back to nursing my hoof in the cool luxury of--get this-NOT the most expensive system on the block. (Neighbor beat me by $6000 due to asbestos removal and a complicated layout and the fact he had a Jag in the driveway when they figured the price) Thanks to all who tried to knock some sense into me on this.
