In my area, this is half the price what the Lowes or Home Depot is selling it for

Thanks. I ordered it. I cut the wrong wire on one outlet too short. So it is wired wrong on both ends to be wired correctly. I can just pull it through and replace it now.

When you consider the cost per ft, this isn't a deal at all.

50' @ Amazon for $27.24 is .5448 cents/ft
250' @ Lowes for $122.00 is .488 cents/ft

You have a point... but
Most of us don’t very often do big wiring jobs using hundreds of feet of Romex all at once. I live within 10 minutes of HD. Having a big roll of left over NMC in case I need it years from now doesn’t make sense unless I’m saving HUGE money per foot. I wouldn’t stock up to save 6 cents per foot. Sure, prices might go up but I don’t have the space to stock up on everything just in case the price increases.

I can buy a half gallon jug of Kikkoman soy sauce at Costco for $6.49 and save HUGE on the per ounce price compared to smaller bottles that fit in the cupboard. But I don’t.

thanks for posting. It's possible I will be helping a friend rewire soon so I will definitely check Amazon before we purchase anything.

Well....... Post up a deal for 50’ of 12-2 that costs less than what the OP posted! :lol_hitti

BTW! When I was an Electrical Contractor I have ALWAYS purchased my 12-2 (MC and NM) in 1000’ spools........ And that is even a better price per foot than a 250’ roll.

Not to beat a dead horse but...smaller rolls of NM wire always cost more per foot than larger rolls, even when the price of copper is not sky high.

I got a bunch of 250' rolls of 12/2 for about $9.34 each from Lowes quite a while back. I'm still working through my stockpile

Just bought two rolls.

I also have spools awaiting use. It’s often easier to grab a short roll for a project than roll off a length from a spool. Also saves time

i suggest reviewing pricing history before declaring something on az a deal. this is basically the normal price, and it was actually cheaper for much of last year. not trashing the offering, just making a suggestion. i appreciate this as a heads up that home depot isn't the place to buy romex. never knew that before.

Im assuming for replacing/extending 15a circuits in a renovation, 14/2 would be preferred or would this do?

Why not get the best of both worlds - buy the large container and use it to refill your small container when it gets low. That's what I do with dish soap. Now if you only use soy sauce once a month, nevermind. :bounce:

for a 15A circuit, either will work. 14ga is easier to work with. If the existing wiring on that branch circuit is 12ga, you limit yourself to 15A forever if you use 14ga. If there's already 14ga wire on it, then continue with the 14ga.

12ga for a 15A circuit will work just fine but is really only needed for long runs to reduce voltage drop or for future-proofing.

Romex pricing is skyrocketing right now. Amazon just hasn't increased their prices yet.

The electrical forum here has had a number of posts about Romex pricing going way up.

Yea it would only be for light switches, and possibly a ceiling fan. Maybe a new bathroom exhaust fan

Holy **** I just looked up a 250 roll of 12/2 at Lowes and it's almost twice what it cost last year! I need it for some rewiring and I should have bought it over the winter.
