I'm interested to see how your floor turns out with all that grinding work.. Are they supposed to get all the swirls out of the surface which are visible in that last photo?

If you are running a VFD, there is probably an input that could read an end switch on the damper which would prevent the drive from turning the motor on until that makes. It would be the same input that would function for an emergency stop switch, or some other enable contact. Alternatively you could wire the fan switch through the end switch.

I have attached a wiring diagram showing how to wire the end switch with a 3 phase fan motor. The diagram shows a motor starter, but it would work with a VFD as well.

Hemifalcon - the swirls show in the last photo from the last round of 120 grit metal bond diamond abrasive pads. From here they go over the floor with 100 grit resin bond diamond pads, then 200 grit, 400 grit, 800 grit, and then buffing. There should be no swirl marks at the end of the process.

Garage polishing still continues. Hopefully it will be done by tuesday, which is when the two post lift is scheduled to be installed.

Photo from today shows the contrast from the concrete as poured, and the current state of polish and hardening.

Exterior painting is complete. Final burnishing of the floor will be tomorrow morning.

My little sister's wedding was this past weekend, so no time for garage work. Wedding was awesome.

Wirepuller, thanks. I'm on the north shore.

OH Varmntr - As far as repainting goes, Hardie says a repaint will be needed every 5 to 15 years depending on climate. I'm pretty close to the ocean, and it is very humid 3 seasons a year, so I may be at the bottom of that range.

Couple photos from last night. The painters finished out the dormers, and painted the half round shingles white.

Thanks guys!

Floor is complete, and i started moving tools and vehicles in .

Super excited, only one more vehicle to move out of storage, and a whole bunch of tools to move in and organize.

My envisioned space is becoming a reality.

It was a pleasure getting the vette ready for the track this weekend, even without all my tools in the garage, and not much thought put in to the locations of things yet.

The shop looks good. With the spray foam on the bottom of the roof sheathing, how do you vent the underside of shingles? I guess that is more of a problem here in Georgia.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Nice B5! A4, S4? Lots of engine work? How do you like it compared to the E46?

Oh and nice garage BTW. Like, really really nice. Now it just needs more tools :)

B5 S4. I've had it from new. APR Chip, AWE bipipe, intercoolers, drive train stabilizer, forge BOV, H&R Coilovers, Stoptech BBK.

Turbos just went on it...

The E46 is more tossable and responsive from the factory. The E46 is mostly stock, the S4 is close to it's equal with all the mods I have done to it, but feels slightly heavier.

Two post lift is installed.

Electrical needs to be finished, but the installer did run it up and down to bleed the system.

I brought home my chunk of aircraft carrier today (best guess) and got to use the lift for the first time today as well.

I also spent a couple hours on this 80 degree october day moving other tools over to the big garage.

Things are coming along and the construction phase is coming to a close.

Paving will happen tomorrow, and then saturday a concrete cutting company will be coring the holes for the railing along the apron.

Built a unistrut trolley crane this past weekend, and did some more organizing.

Speakers are up and running in the garage.

Driveway was paved friday and came out great.

Garage is looking fantastic; that floor came out really well! I'm disappointed you really half-a$$ed that welding table, though ;)
Sorry I missed you at Club Motorsports, I was paddocked up in paddock 4, and running around all weekend. Saw the Vette though, it looked great. If you are at NHMS this weekend, I'll be in garage 3, would love to say hi.

Thanks.

I got to work in the garage tonight on a business project. Was able to develop my concept as i built the device. I'll test it out in the am to see if this iteration works.

The garage now feels like one of the machine shops i had access to in college, albeit mine is not as well stocked with tools or material - but i have it to myself and i can crank megadeath. Feels pretty awesome.

Booch, i will be at nhms this weekend, and i'll look you up. I'm in garage 21.

Well my weekend at nhms was cut short by a meeting with the wall at the end or turn 3, so maybe that was prophetic. The 3rd wall is not figurative.

Anyways, that gave me all sunday to work on the garage.

I'm pretty happy with how these material racks came out.

Great catching up with you in person, ryan.

Vette still looks good from the back, but that is the only good side.

Steve

Ouch. Sorry to hear about the vette. Walls and racecar don't work well together. I couldn't agree more. 91072c4f28a1a203d0e4af0b873b629d.jpg

Steve, nice meeting you. Sorry for how the weekend ended; we saw you heading home in the AM on our way back to the track Sunday morning. Glad you and Pete are ok, that's all that really matters at the end of the day.
On the positive side, the garage is really coming together!

Ouch for you too. How bad was that repair?

So far not too bad. Getting the car skinned and pit back together as we speak. Good safety equipment has never been more valued!

I agree on the safety equipment. I had a harness bar, 6pont belts and my necksgen keeping everything where it should be. I had track insurance. Was just informed the car is totalled. High salvage value means there is no benefit to buying it back.
