Because it looks to me like these are flat on the ground. That is going to make moving them about 3 times more exciting - if you can't get forks under them without scaring up the front of each and every box.

Why can't you just palletize them? Still that'd be a lot of handling. What freight class do tool boxes ship at?

Having moved several of these and looking how they are currently laid out, you will incur some substantial prepping and packing time/cost but a lot will depend on access and if the USPS has the keys for all of them.

They do not appear to have forklift slots so the ability to move all of them is not going to be quick and will require extra steps. Getting them on pallets won't be fun and will require man power. Do you have 65 pallets laying around or do you need to buy them?
If you can't lock the drawers, then you'll have to deal with that to prevent them from opening during transport. Most likely saran wrap them.

Then you have the shelving storage units mounted on top of the cabinets to deal with, I seriously doubt you can leave them on top during transport. Are they just resting on top of the cabinets or like any gov. property in CA are they earthquake secured? If so, that alone will take a good while just to access the mounting bolts.

Take all of that into account and I'm sure it does impact the cost per drawer, I'm guessing maybe $5 per drawer just to leave the property not including cost per mile..

According to the ad there are no keys available.
If someone is keeping them that will be $20-40 a cabinet to rectify depending on if you need just a key or a new lock cylinder.

Oh, there is waste in large companies and large governments for sure. But a lot of the cabinets I buy (and I buy more than average) have issues - broken hinges, cut-open backs due to lost keys, dents, dings, missing drawers. A big, clean lot like this will go for good money.

And there is no keys provided with any of these.

Wire transfer only is the payment method. No thanks.

I wish them joy of it. I hope they are not all bolted together side-to-side like I have seen in many installations.

I would bet my hubcaps that they are all bolted together very securely. So. Cal is known as earthquake territory and this installation must have been to govt. standards.

But when it comes down to it and you really need 65+ cabinets then this is still a very good deal even after the removing costs and shipping costs.

Imagine your choices, buying new ones in bulk (too much $$$$) or being forced to acquire separately at auctions, eBay.....etc. That would take lots of time, plus no guarantee you will find 65 matching sizes and condition; then imagine the many multiple times of logistics/shipping cost of purchases in different locations.

I'm sure the costs would be higher than this one after you tally up the bills after your done

Or maybe just wait in hopes/pray for an other auction like this one but closes at a lower price? That wouldn't necessarily be a prudent business decision if your a business in need.

I doubt these are being purchased for resale.

I wonder how much the government should thank the OP for spreading the word about the auction. Even if a GJ'er didn't buy, the way google works would make a GJ post with key words like Vidmar spread across the net faster than the govauc site.

The price doubled one day after the OP posted, and ultimately more than quintupled. I'd say the OP should get a cut for the promotion... maybe one cabinet?

All I've got to say is, OP, please don't you dare make a thread about what I'm bidding on!

:)

Ha! As much as I like GJ, I am not sure how much this changed the prices. 25 of these in VA went for $480 a year or so back if I recall.

I think these are over 2k new from Vidmar. I'm no ever sure who really pays that price, mind you.
