I have an 80gal air tank with 2 large (2") bungs on the side.
each has a pipe plug with a female 7/8" - 15/16" square recess.

Tried a 3/4 drive breaker bar, it was about to spin in the recess.
do they make a 7/8" sq drive wrench for this ??

Yes they make pipe plug sockets for them, I have a snap on set I use a lot for drain and fill plugs in the automotive world. They seem to fit ALOT better than a ratchet or an extension.

Try Williams or proto for a socket. Not sure if they make one that big though...

Bend a L-shaped shim and put it in with the 3/4 ratchet.

Or get a countersunk plug wrench.

But,
"I Got's To Know"

Free 80 gal Horz tank,
when I pulled the bottom plug I was greated with 175psi of about a gallon of clear water and a quart of white oil.
Really want to pull the 2" plugs and take a looksy.

Grabbing some 1" sq bar stock, welding it to a 4' pipe, and grind it to 7/8"

I'll let you know

That is a hint to leave it alone.

my calculation shows you should be able to fit a penny on each side of the square drive
junkyard trick?
