Wow, amazing space, reno's and car collection! Love the progress thus far. One question, I know you said low ceiling height, am I correct in assuming standard 8ft ceilings in the workspace area?

Madhatter: no hurry because with holidays and a new member added to your family you are a busy guy not mentioning all the cool car stuff you are doing. i didn't know if you have had a chance to show how you make the 2 or 3 inch transition into your basement's portion of the garage.

did you say you made it out of wood and is it fairly permanent or do you just have it available to put down when you need it.

Happy Thanksgiving and everything is looking awesome.

Without further delay...

Not the best picture but it gives you an idea of what the ramp looks like. I plan on coating it in rhino liner sooner.

Madhatter: thank you very much and very solid design. is it about 18 inches front to back and is your rise 3 inches? if you are pushing your cars or toolboxes up in and out of the room you might also find a piece of siding or molding that takes the lip down from the 3/4 or inch to nothing for a smooth transition. i tend to move heavy stuff into my storage unit and i have about a 3inch lip like yours and with a lot of weight on casters or a pallet jack any bump tends to cause a bruise or movement on the pallet.

cheers and best of luck finishing it up. also have fun with those fancy cars you own, but not too much fun.

drivesitfar,

Once the 4 car garage gets tiled...which will be very soon then there wont be any gap at all. It was made when both surfaces weren't tiled...and now one is. I have some smaller transistion pieces in storage right now too. When this never ending project is over I get it more presentable and add some additional pics :)

Madhatter: your garage(s) are awesome and happy to hear you made the lip like that on purpose. i'm not sure how you are not going to have a lip somewhere so i'll just keep quiet and watch you work.

good luck

Madhatter: just a word of caution. not only members will have all your contact information you posted on your ad in the classifieds. you might want to delete and have a member PM you for your information. just saying

i was wondering if you might have had a few extra tile pieces when i saw the picture of all those pallets. by the way in case you didn't know Fastenal might ship that pallet of tiles across the US for under $200 if your other shippers are more expensive.

good luck

Thanks for the heads up :)

I have had all that info on different car forums selling stuff for years without issue. Once everything is sold I may edit it out. Just wanted everyone to see that I am a real person and not a scammer.

Didn't know fastenal did that. There is one 10 miles from my house so ill definitely look into that. Already had some inquires on freight rates :)

Madhatter: nice pictures as usual. just curious if you sold all that tile. i can't use any, but wondered how Fastenal shipping costs compared to the shippers you normally use?

see if you can teach your puppy to **** in the weeks like my daughter did with her dog that is in my Avitar. it's great to walk a dog that searches out tall ivy and blackberries to do his business. they lived in a condo and the grounds had tall ivy that they walked him into so he learned quick.

when is the other garage getting it's tile put down?

NICE WORK!!

Made a modifcation to the Maxjax this weekend. The two height settings from the factory are great but I felt like it needed a lower setting as well for doing work in the engine bay as well as using a creeper underneath the car. I set these new holes around 12.5. It took FOREVER to drill through the posts....which is a good thing I guess :)

MH: put one of these on your Christmas wish list if you need to drill any more holes in steel plate. i just pick this Milwaukee because first on the google list to get you an idea. check the threads and do your research and find the best one for your needs if you end up buying one.

Thats sooo bad ***! Now I need one ;)

Ended up using this:

just had to be careful with heat and only drill for 20 seconds or so at a time and keep it lubed.

MH: I bet you'll have one of those Mag drills as soon as you sell a few tiles. please post the one you buy if you do because i know you will research better than I can.

how much is a pallet of tiles shipped via Fastenal and any idea how much it weighs? how many tiles per pallet? i can't use any and just going to put the word out. i'll check your ad for more details and maybe an update on here how many you might have left to sell.

MH: you are doing an awesome job with your garages and all that tiling. can you remember to take a few pictures of how you made that 2 inch transition from one area to the next disappear?

keep up the great work and always like seeing your progress.

BC: very cool idea and probably something MH might need with all the cool cars he and his friends own.

Wow! Your going a great job on the garage! And I've always wanted a basement converted to garage space. This is just cool, jealous.

Your collection is also great!

Wow, very nice space! The tile looks great! I was originally going to tile mine but, ended up using acid stain instead.

How thick is your slab? Just curious because I'm in the process of installing a MaxJax, as well.

Thanks!

I love the look of acid etch. The floor was 4.5 inches thick...and I love my maxjax
