Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this 72/47/25 inch 19 Drawer Tool Chest by RollCabs.com, made by Extreme Tools? The chest is a basic Extreme Tools RX722519RC but made to RollCabs.com with added slide rail weight capacity, and labeled as RCRX722519RC. My budget is right around $2k. I also found a used Snap-On Classic 96 KRA box (78/25/42) in excellent cond, asking price $2800. Both boxes weigh about the same, which tells me approx same gauge metal.

BTW, This is for my home garage, heavily into cars but not a pro wrench, so the drawers will not get opened/closed 40 times a day....

Have you considered the homak?

Thanks, that's a nice looking box, but I guess I should of added more of my requirements. I want Blue, and I want the Top drawer to be around 4" deep and cover at least 3/4 the width of the cab for all of my sockets extensions and ratchets if possible, if that makes sense.

My guess is you don’t have a Menards. New 24” deep Masterforce boxes are extremely nice for the money. Als comes in blue

Yeah, I like the drawer layout, having the 3 very long drawers, that's actually the configuration that I was looking at originally, but rethinking to see what would actually work best....Most of the 72" boxes I've been looking at are around the 5-600lbs range, with drawer weight 120-150 for shallow drawers and 2-300 for the deeper drawers (over 3")

There’s a thread about those kind of boxes in the product/vendor reviews section that you may find useful.

Some of the complaints are the latch system can cause issues with things in the drawer but the price is right unless shipping is an issue. I will find out what that costs me in the next day or so.

See if you can negotiate better price on the kra .

Box is 3 1/2 years old, perfect cond from what I can see. His asking is 2800, waiting on a response to see if still avail and wiggle room. I've also found a KRL, 54/24/42 for $1500, but I need more space. Both of these boxes are 3hrs from me and I don't mind driving it either would work out...

Shipping is $30 to my door with a lift for the Rollcabs box....I am leaning towards that box unless I can make one of the Snap-On's I found on CL work....

We have a small Hurricane headed our way, so nothing is going to happen for the next week, and I am guessing the guy with the KRA box is busy boarding up...

Good thing with the snapon is if buy at right prices it worth much same if ever want sell so loose no real bucks and get a great tool box experience thrown in for free .

napa rs pro was a good buy but new prices not so good .

If you can get a good nice Snapy box at the right price, there are many good reasons to buy it. The depreciation has basically gone so it will solidly hold its value, it will function very well and you will enjoy owning a top shelf box.

I am not inclined to want to open a huge drawer and give 100 or more pounds of tools a free joyride back and forth every time I want a little socket. Personally would like 4 smaller drawers, maybe something for a drive size or 2 and common wrenches and another for other common tools I used vs one big one that was top heavy and highly leveraged.

I will agree about the value to some extent at a well depreciated price. Contrary to a lot of popular belief the professional might try to make it work the best the cheapest. Even a busy professional might use 10% of the stuff he got in a day.

A couple Buds had small car garages, ended up had a set of Sears boxes at 75$ and the **** he used on a new HF cart. It was perfect for car work depending on how tidy you cared to be. The efficiency doesn't come at the price of the box and maybe because my boxes are pos I really come up with a way at a fraction of the cost and easier.
If I wanted to feel cozy and had to work along the wall in a common garage might want a hutch with my common tools on top so I don't got to open a drawer to get a 440 Channelock, an adjustable or a common socket. I am approaching mine from different angles so its kind of a 3 sided affair but the stuff on top of it is specifically tailored to frequency. The drawers under all this not including hammers and adjustables, and clamps are all support.

I found a bench top tackle box thingy I put drill bits in. I was going to treat myself to a new HF44 but part of the reason was some sorting and heavy use in a drawer ,,, ha, I moved the load off sorted it again by convenience and I need to tackle box the taps and dies yet.
I am not repetitious but frequent. I use all 1/2 for impact with some duplication and variety in the common sizes. My **** is old and dull, in some case a new clone import is way as good as worn out abused Kliens. I uses a new HF screwdriver yesterday. I got Half a dozen old good ones and has some common paint in the screw slots and the new driver made it do able. In a while it may get in the same condition but at 2$ a single it is worth a few to sharpen up. I am going to get a couple new Phillips. They will stand out as new and get used a lot.
Pic 2 has some more parts of a set I might want at this location, its the socket drawer for **** you might need not on the rack and there is a drawer above it for wrenches in the same fashion

I would like that long drawer heavy duty near the bottom to toss bars, long extensions in.
My auto Bud used the HF cart, was nice and look down on top of a lot of it. Was easy to toss stuff back. Personally depending on the view can see that nice cab with a hutch on top with hangers and pegs and shelves where I didn't need to use the drawers.
We got a couple stations like the ones in the pic has 90Percent hung and in the open.

Don't forget to check with your local tool truck guys. They may have used boxes that they will deal on. I bought my used Matco from the local Snap on driver who loved to wheel and deal.

Good luck on that cane heading your way!

No such thing. It will keep dropping as long as they keep making them newer, better, faster, and people keep buying them.

Not really true as potentially vintage/antique means prices can go up lol
Reality is buying used at good deal means you loose very little or nothing as further depreciation is much less if at all and if you purchased desirable models, done a good deal and keep it in good shape you may even make money on it .
Used tool boxes is about best tool $ saving you can do .
All my boxes are used Matco and paid for from flipping other used boxes over the years .

Spending 2K on chinese boxes is last option I want do, first would be good deal used on any decent box, second would be 1 to 1.5K on something new .

Problem with this one is i'd need to (like to) find another blue matching box or side cab to add another 6 plus drawers....

I'm really on the fence, talked with Shannon today (great guy) about a 72" Tool Vault and Extreme Tools, but sure, i'd really like to have a good used Snap-On box just to have something nice, if, I could find what I need.

Had no idea so many decisions on this. Yes, I am ready to buy as soon as the storm passes, as I need the tool space. I have tools laying everywhere now.

It's pretty far from a bad deal. If I were you and 54" was big enough I'd be out hooking the trailer right now. I'd much rather spend $1500 on that than any of the other options listed.

EDIT: I'd snag this and just be patient about finding the rest of what you need. Blue is a common color on the KRLs and you'll find what you want eventually. If you are on the fence about the Extreme and really want a Snap-On I'll say it again I'd be buying this one right now. It'll make you happier looking at the Snappy in the garage than a massive Extreme box if the Snappy is what you really want.

If you're going to buy a KRA in my opinion you might as well get the Extreme box or something. Just make the purchase that will solve your tool problems for life- the following is what you really want and isn't a bad price either.

EDIT: Realized I was being a jerk but really wanted to throw that at you even though its outside your budget.

If you can get them down a little on the price of that Classic 96 all the better but that is a fair price. That KRL for $1500 is really a steal I think though.

No your cool, NP at all. All good points. That box would fit my needs. I just sent the guy with the KRL a txt, I may just buy it, use it, and see how my needs roll out from there, as I am moving from a Craftsman 41Wx18Dx41H, so this would be a significant improvement.....I could comfortably go 3K but don't think I could justify 6K for the garage right now.

Yeah you don't need to worry about having room in the KRL moving from that. With light use in the garage you'll easily be able to get your money out of it if you wanted to. You'll be happier with it than the KRA and just keep your eyes open for additions to make your storage space bigger.

I'd have a hard time with 3K for the garage myself at this point, but for some stupid reason I do dream of having an EPIQ at the home shop. It'll happen someday.

Well, I just told the guy I'd take the KRL. We are going to talk tomorrow to finalize. Got to wait on the storm to go thru us before I can go pick up.

I really appreciate the advice, I fell pretty darn good right now, as it's a def improvement on quality and space. After I load this up I can get a pretty good feel for what I need going forward.....
