I work for a heating company, we just redid a large building that had forced air humidification . These units were pulled out and trashed- i grabbed one. The inlet side measured 20x25 , just the right size for a standard hi efficiency filter. So, I took and put a small cord on it. a couple of eye hooks and hung it from my ceiling with a switch on the bottom that I could reach. Now, wwhen I am doing welding or sawing , I turn the unit on and get the air really moving. Helps too in the middle of winter to keep the garage evenly heated by circulating the air better.burger said:Sidekick,
Let's hear more about the garage-sale air filtration system. I like cheap!
Thanks,

when my scanner starts to work you will be the first to get a copy of my plans. Don't rule out garage sales. 90 percent of my hardware came from garage sales. Also check with building recyclers , they tend to keep a lot of good stuff on hand that can be reasonable ( hinges, drawer hardware, lights, casters)safetyfast said:Great space you've got. I'd love to see the plans as I'm getting ready to do the same thing. I love to save $ as well. I even scrounged the burn pit at my house construction for useable lumber. Amazing what builders will throw away. I scrounged some cabinet doors for when I build cabinets. Wish I could have scrounged complete cabinets though.
Sidekick said:I spent 750.00 to make all the cabinets, install air lines, vacuum lines, parts bins, the metal counter tops, and made 4 roll arounds. My scanner is down, I have the plans for the overhead cabinets, the tool shed, the automotive supplies cabinet and the tablesaw/ router table drafted out- I need to scan to jpg to share.

Reminds me of one of my favorite Matchbox cars as a child.Sidekick said:this is what the other car looks like. and here is my last project
the one in my garage right now will be gloss black and sit real low and wide.![]()
I haven't been around, my puter crashed and my buddy ( who set it up) was not able to salvage all my programs and stuff. Took me a while to find this place again. Needless to say, my scanner is still not operational. I have been drafting up everything so as to make it easy to copy what I did. Give me time to get it running.

This is what can happen when you "McGyver" everything on the cheap!!!
Maybe next time you might spend a few bucks and hire a professional!!
Also, hope the next thing the breaks down isn't that free dust collector hanging over your head!!
