Suffered from neglect for too long.

Thought I’d start with a bath day.

In need of some products from the auto parts store.

Time for a ride!

My '84 van has been sitting in the driveway untouched for several months now. Found out the hard way that red wasps had taken up residence in the front passenger door jamb and engine bay. Waiting until it's cold enough to eradicate them. Then move the van into it's new home.

Nice that you gave it a bath. Clean new Wimbledon White looks good!

I have the 1975 blown apart to paint. Thinking of deleting the dentside trim like yours.

Iwrestled with that too. Ended up plug welding all the bullet holes.

Tool,
Going to need a wax and buff before it goes in that clean shop!

Having some fun this afternoon picking some “select” logs out of the channel.

I won’t ever be without a hitch mounted crane again. This thing breaks, I’m buying a new one!

I’ve surpassed it’s rating on numerous occasions, but it’s still lifting 👍

Small diameter logs, but just may have some interesting grain/spalting.

I see you've also started a LOGGING business. (hee hee) nothing like FREE material is there especially if you don't have to pay to store it.

how's the new job and hoping the cement workers strike didn't throw things off in your world too.

merry Christmas and hope you have a great 2022.

Merry Christmas, Drives!

The only thing impacting our concrete pours is this wonderful PNW weather!

I wouldn’t call it a logging business, but keep watching for a new thread from me in the coming weeks 😲

Rivennhewn’s “Thick and Thin”
Dripping wet he reels ‘em in.
Saw them quick and stack it neat.
Productivity measured in board feet!
Spalted, twisted, crotch and burl
Dry it out so it won’t curl…
A planer will be next on Riven’s list,
making shavings in the mist.
Crazy money he’ll get for this
w/ internet sales or on Craigslist?

Merry Christmas, Riv.

How much snow did you get up there , Riv? -we had 16 straight hours of liquid sunshine here on Christmas Day.
So far about 8-10”.
Wind has blown some areas bare, and some drifts at 2’. More on the way.

Getting down to the low teens next few nights.
Hoping we don’t lose power again, and the old furnace keeps up.

Truck is awesome, I have enjoyed watching it evolve. It may be a Michigan thing, but have you ever thought about a 4x4 conversion?

Thanks Nerd!

I bought it when I was a city boy. I didn’t think I’d ever need 4wheel, as all roads are paved.

Now that I’m living in a more rural area, kinda wish I had.

You don’t want to get off road around here after a good rain without it

So, what you’re really saying is you have about 14 risk-free off-road opportunities each year…
Yes, it does rain here.

But, not as much as you might think.

We are at the far Eastern edge of the Olympic rain shadow.

It amazes me how often it will be raining all around us, but not on us. More often than not:

I was in the rain shadow when I lived on the Olympic Peninsula , we got about ~22 inches annually.
My brother lived a few miles south of us, aross the Hood Canal and he got 50+ inches.
If I had to move back to the Peninsula I'd probably go to Sequim ~15 inches.

Sequim is kinda awesome. My parents had property there, but never built on it. They let it go without letting me know. I wasn’t too happy ‘bout that. What Eva🙄.

We get about 30 - 35” annually. I can live with that. We have a sun index of 87. A few miles East of us is no where near as sunny.

My new favorite phone app.

Gives you decibel reading combined with a pic or video.

Your hitch-mounted crane looks like it works really well for the smaller logs. Are you using it as much now that you have an arch for the big logs? Ever thought about adding a winch to the front of the dump bed for medium sized logs? The ATV sized winches (2500-3500 lbs) are pretty reasonable -- I drag logs out of the woods with one and it works okay.

Rick,
The winch I set up for hitch mounting was originally going to be mounted at the headache rack. I’ll be picking up another one at some point as I still want one on the flatbed.

The hoist still comes in handy for all types of task, and I love that I can use it on either truck.

I’m thinking of extending the hitch on the log arch, to make it easier to use with the truck. It’s designed to be used on an ATV .
