So last night was pretty decent. Worked till 930pm, got the front radiator support attached, AC dryer installed, radiator connected, bumper shocks on, and found a big problem with one of them. They use a goofy aluminum compression clamp to hold the bumper on. the passenger top one is corroded and can't be moved. so it's not functional, and of course they are year specific and i don't have one on the parts car. So i think i'll order one for next time, and punt with this one just to get it on the road.

I'll have to do a search on that; not familiar with the Aussie headlights.
It's a housing that bolts in place of the current ones you have and lets you install a square sealed beam headlight like the 80-86. I say this because of how bad the bricknose headlights are. You know what i'm talking about.

My truck has been running like **** lately, and i just loaded the parts cannon again. I am pulling the injectors out of my spare truck that i KNOW runs good and swapping those over, along with superduty valve cover harness upgrade. The damn thing is driving me crazy. I came home last Monday on about 5 cylinders. No bueno.

Today, this morning, it was about 20F outside. I can't survive that for long in the shop without winterizing my water line. So today's first task is to get a heat tape for the water line installed. Then back on the car. I'd like to get to where i can move it out of shop today, but that might be a tall order. We will see how the day goes.

NO BLACK friday shenanigans. I've sworn off that ****.

So i've got the salamander running, warming up the shop, i have a heat tape to install on the water line for the boiler. I think that should take care of freezing issues. Had to order a new bumper shock for the audi. I'm going to wing it to get it on the road for an alignment this week, and i'll finish up when it arrives. Only 100 miles away in Muskegon.

I've got a leaky lower radiator fill hose, at the bottom of the radiator that is leaking even without pressure on it. I'm going to try to get a different size oring on the fitting to seal it up. The hose is $100 plus shipping. I'm out of time, the car is going to go to alignment sometime this week if i can swing it. Either way, we've got snow on the ground, the truck is down and i have nothing else to drive. I need this stress to stop.

35 dollars in o-rings from mcmaster.... that i will probably never use again.

Just got off the phone with the alignment shop. Trying to juggle the appt timing. More snow coming in Friday,
i'd like to be done enough to drive it. I may have to have some things not-done. The interior is a mess.
The wheel liners aren't on yet. I may just fluid-film and throw those back on tonight. The shop is so damn cold.
I got the AC buttoned up last night, waiting on the bumper shock today and o-rings tomorrow. THeoretically i should
be able to complete tomorrow and align wed, but i am at office wed-fri, so somebody else has to drive to drop it off.
the battery is sketchy, and nobody has driven it yet. I'm a bit nervous after having it off the road so long, but everything has been touched so it should be ok.

That's one way of getting it done. I added insurance on both of the last two cars that I restored before they were road worthy. That gave me the kick in the pants that I needed to get the car safe to drive. They had storage insurance but as soon as I was paying more it got me motivated.

Last night put on the new bumper shock, and buttoned up a few more things. I still have to figure out hood cable routing and a few wires. And i cant' find the fluid film can. i want to shoot the wheel wells before the liners go back on. Other than that and a little interior prep, i'm in good shape for thurs PM. alignment.

How far away is the alignment shop?
Are you getting in a test drive tonight??? ideally with your son (or someone) available to pick you up if things don't go well?
remember..... prior planning prevents piss poor results....... "P5R" as my brother and I joke back and forth......

About 25 miles. And I hope so. If not tonight, certainly tomorrow.

Haha, i'd be ok with 4 out of 6 gears and 5 cylinders... I just need it aligned so i can get it back home and driveable. My worst fear is there's some big problem i hadn't anticipated and i have no wheels next week. I rreallly don't want to buy a car right now.

Just got out of the shop, started and ran the car, topped fluids, warmed it up, checked general operation. Sprayed headlight retaining bolts down, they don't move. I gassed myself out of the shop. The PCV has a horrendous vacuum leak. I am done for the night while i try to find a pcv locally *yeah right* and it will probably go to the shop leaking tomorrow.
I got the hood cable installed. that was fun.

Clutch and trans shifts fine. I think we're ok there.

Tomorrow bumper and lights install, final wiring connections, wheels and tires, drop it and get it out of the shop.
