Does work continue during the cold part of the year up there or do you wait for the thaw?

Slab looks great!

Congratulations on a sweat equity project that is looking great. I'm guessing the snow is gone now? I grew up by the south shore of Lake Ontario, and recall seeing it snow as-late as May, though it didn't stay long. This season you should be done a lot easier to work in the spring & summer than what you faced in the winter. You have a lot of initiative.

A friend of mine has a vacation home southeast of you in Eagle Harbor MI. He's right on the lake. I haven't been there yet, but I'd like to go. He said it's always cold water.

Since the roof didnt get done until mid December, there was 4" of ice on the floor in some place. I built the little "boiler"to slowly add heat to the slab to melt the ice and snow off the floor. It worked awesome. Once the ceiling was sealed off with the foam, it was all i used for heat, even with tarps for doors.

Crazy what building in the winter brings up there! I really like what you did with those 2 sheds and the siding on them and the original dual lean to garage.

Summer 2019:

Had to take a break from the shop and build some stairs from old tombstones:

48914026911_f9b79cae6d_b.jpg

Digging for the 100amp feed from the shed to the shop, burning brush, and repairing the septic field, which i cut with the excavator, of course:

New Panel:

Panel in the shed. The 100 amp feed from the house is coming in from the right, and the feed out to the shop is on the left. Of course the new cable i bought was 2 feet too short:

Did an asphalt removal job with my buddy, used the old asphalt to build up the parking area and control erosion:

48914467031_0f5dff32eb_b.jpg

added some gravel:

And bought some new toys:

I preprimed the sheets, including the edges, now i'm filling the seams with drywall mud to soften the edges:

Did some mechanical work for a heating company, so they hooked me up with a furnace, but I had to install it:

Getting my 8' LED's up. There will be 16 of these:

Some were damaged, but HD let me keep them and gave me 7 free fixtures. I was able to fix the damage:

More painting:

I have wanted cabinets for a while and have been searching , but i wanted everything to match, so no good used deals for the size i was thinking, everything new is overpriced, under-built, cheap garbage.

I was at my favorite local MRO surplus supplier picking up a braking resistor for my big lathe, when he asked me if i was interested in a smokin deal on 116 18x36" steel shelving panels. It clicked in that somehow I could make cabinets out of these.

I picked em up for next to nothing. Follow along as i turn them into something pretty cool.

50946909042_9b0afa6409_c.jpg

That was the 116 shelving panels I started with

50950830996_b7a0eec16f_b.jpg

Assembled a cabinet, made a jig to set them up quick, used pop rivets and sheet metal screws.

50972169616_e04c364791_b.jpg

50971481113_75ed595a1d_b.jpg

hung them on french cleats off the back panel lip

42' of cabinets - 36x36x18"
