Welcome mate. The block looks amazing with those views, the house and shed plans look great, and your work on the camper trailer is great too. Looking forward to tracking your progress.

Just a quick little update, we got council approval yesterday so the build can finally commence.

We have to do a few things though, like build a 2.4 high 20 mtr long colorbond fence on one part of the top boundary to block the burning bush to meet our 12.5 BAL rating!!
At some stage we also have to retain the cut side of the platform but we can do that later after we move in.

And the big one is that the engineers wont sign off on the house being built on the edge of the cut to fill platform. Well they will but the pier work they want is beyond what we are willing to spend. So on the 11th hour they have moved the house over 3 mtrs which puts it only 1 mtr from my shed. This is disappointing but its the lesser of many other evils we explored to make it work.

Thanks very much for the positive words.

We are very keen to see this started, it has been a few years in the making.

Our next big hurdle is going to be all the massive rocks on the site. Once the slabs are down we can sleep a bit easier.

Not a lot happening on this build at the moment. I havent been out to the block in a while but it would appear as though the builder must be starting it next year at this rate!

I requested to have a small roller door put in the back of my shed but apparently he has already ordered the shed and it is too late, so I just a bought one from Gumtree for $150 that ill install myself later.

My dear old mum wanted to buy all her kids a 'keeps sake' item. She bought the daughters diamond rings and other fancy jewelry, but when it came to buying me something she was stumped as jewelry isn't my thing.

Anyway we were at good old bunnings buying some stuff to fit up a water tank in her back yard and she suggested I get some of the ultimate storage gear as my 'keep sake'

I wasnt convinced it was the right way to go but in the end I think the quality is good enough. Im not sure itll get handed down too many generations though!!

Here is some of it set up in my little garage I use at the moment. Ill set the rest up when my bigger shed is built.

Thanks Gents.

They are pretty thats for sure. The bench tops are not really practical for my type of work though, id kill them in a year or at the very least they would look very second hand.

So those stainless benches etc will be in a the 'nice' corner and ill have my usual (hardwood benchtop with vice etc) over in the 'working' corner.

I also hope to build a reasonable welding table on wheels at some stage if I have the space.

Sorry for the lack of reply lately but I am happy to report that the build has finally begun.

Power, plumbing and water are all installed and connected.

Excuse the smoggy look in the distance, we are having some bad bush fires down here at the moment.

In preparation for the new larger shed I have been getting my work space organised so I recently built a couple of new benches.

One of the them is a long narrow (2400x400) bench to house some benchtop tools I have such as some cheap things from Supercheapauto and my 72" belt sander etc.

The other is going to be my main work bench. It is 1800 x 600 and has a 50mm thick heavy top that is lined with a cheap sacrificial pine surface that I can easily replace when it gets too daggy.

I also turned an old Ergonomics adjustable height computer table into a table to weld on. Notice I didnt call it welding table, but just a table I can weld on ;) It is not a precise top, which is fine because for the most part I do not do precision work, I am just a home hack at best :bounce:

Hopefully these photos show most of them........

Great photo. Great update. As for the fires you are in the news here. Had plenty of days here in Summer with thick smoke from fires many miles away.

Another little step closer when I was up there last night. I think they have poured the slab today, hopefully my wife will pop up and have a look later tonight on her way home from work.

A very poor quality photo due to having to take a zoomed pic from across the valley (the builder has a no photos while people are on site policy) but we finally have something coming out of the ground.....stage 1 of my shed!!

My wife will get better photos tomorrow night when she calls in after work and all the builders have gone home, but i couldn't contain my excitement so i had to show this bad photo :)

I know I am spamming my own thread with pics and not really encouraging conversation by doing so, but I am a little excited that my shed is coming along.......albeit with the wrong colour roller door!

Ill give the builder a few days to realise the mistake and then ill have to break the news to him that it is supposed to be shale grey as per the signed spec sheet

This is an amazing build! Watching all the welding projects that have happened makes me want to add another hobby in welding.

Being on the complete opposite side of the globe, I want to throw out that it is -15°F (-26°C) as of this morning as my wife left for work. Amazing to see the climate so different, dry, and hot there. We just got an additional 8 inches or so of snow in the last two or three days, too.

A shed as big as the house - perfect!

It would be that way if I had the final say :) But sadly the main sheds only 72m2 and the house is 295m2.
The shed should end up being a bit over a 100m2 when I finish the lean-to etc and I should point out that the house has its own 28m2 garage but I have been told very sternly that it is for the wife's car and none of my "s$#t" :wtf:

Thanks, the weather is not only polar opposites across the globe, we are also having major floods in Queensland while we are having major bush fires down here.

Welding is great hobby and big part of my life to be honest. I am just a weekend hack at best in the welding world but I enjoy the projects it allows me to do.

At the moment I am building an outdoor kitchen to hold my old barby top. It is all alloy and stainless for the most part.
Here is a poor quality pic of it during the early stages.

Wow that's nuts! Amazing how it all happens and still we are here

Ooh shiny. Someday I would love to do a countertop cooking system like that outside. Do you make drawings of everything you are building or is it all in your head?

Thanks, itll be a lot nicer when it is finished ;)
For big projects that require a lot of detail I usually design them in a 3d program but for smaller things like this I normally just scribble something on paper and even then a lot of the time I 'wing' it when issues arise.

Danshell I like the shed just as it is, great size.

Never big enough mate :bounce: Actually it would be big enough if I didnt have so much stuff to store. I need 40m2 of storage space before I can even have workshop space.
Between the wife and kids and myself we have a lot of gear to put on shelves.
