I've kinda been slacking a little, but I finally got off my **** to built my workbench. The bench itself was pretty simple. I spent a little over an hour with the girlfriend to build this bench.. I probably spent longer at home depot waiting for help. The bench itself is 7ft wide and 2ft deep and 41 1/2" high. Everything was joined together using Simpson strong ties. As far as height goes... I hate hunching over on shorter benches, plus I wanted to be able store my stool under the bench when not in use.
All that is left is to install the shelf on the left side which is 5/8" plywood... then I'll prime it and paint it either dark grey or black (most likely black). The work surface will be supplied by my girlfriend, who works for a an office furniture design firm. It will most likely some kind of laminate in dark grey or light grey. Which ever is in the warehouse and left over from installs.. I'm not picky.
Total investment so far is $48.00 including screws.
After this is done I'll start looking for my Epoxy floor, which will most likely be Epoxy-guard from Costco.
This is the original plan for the bench that I drew in solidworks, before i decided to just mount it directly to the wall.
