Just like many of you I have entirely too much ****. Not **** in the truest sense of the word... my ****(s) are treasures never to be parted with. So then I have I have a bunch ancillary **** to keep all my other must have **** running.

So it’s now time to organize this pig. Started with a badass water softener :)

The car is actually pretty cool... S4 6sp

To be honest I’m still wrestling with the decision but I think the car might go too

Really tempted for a clean start

Stefan: The thing about that drill press is with a tiny bit of care, you will be able to hand it down to your great grandkids.... It’s a beast that you almost can’t kill with normal usage. Pricewise, probably wouldn’t have anyone blink around here if it were on craigslist at 2k$.

LOL...The reason is that it's infinitely better than the low cost stuff out there today, and within a short time of getting rid of it, you'd be mad at yourself for doing so. Also, it's paid for..... If I didn't have an Edlund that's about 4 times the size of that one, I'd be after one like it for my shop.

It’s probably gonna stay until the cabinets are in and I can visualize it... I have some heavy duty casters I’ll mount to it so I can tuck it away until needed

Got the car started and moved and most everything else into the barn. Ripping out the old workbench and shelving tomorrow.

I’m going to be drywalling the garage but I wanted to ask what I should consider before doing so I was going to place blocking behind where the upper cabinets sit to make fastening them easier and more secure plus run some speaker wire and a couple electric outlets for more lights and such.

What else am I missing?

I'd hold onto the Avant and the drill press but I have a problem with letting toys and tools go.

I’m the same way - I fall in love with this stuff but I really need to make some decisions.

Fortunately I have the space to take my time and do it right! Here are some pics of the barn and everything out there. Those are all my bikes... I have a problem lol

Why do I have two shop vacs :lol_hitti

Have you considered using a french cleat system to hang your cabinets?

https://www.popularwoodworking.com/woodworking-blogs/french-cleat/

No blocking needed, just tie into the studs. If you ever change your mind, you only have to deal with a handful of screw holes in the drywall.

I'm looking forward to following along as I am also a serial hobbyist working out of a 24x24. I'm midway through my second big purge of stuff I no longer have use for.

Naturally, everyone here wants you to keep tools like the drill press. The 2 questions I'd ask is what are you going to use a large drill press for and can you afford to give up so much space (due to the base) in such a small garage.

I'll have to see how much space I have for that behind the cabinet. I'm installing a 10 piece Newage Pro series and I think they want them lagged into the wall to achieve the weight ratings.

Those are the same questions I am asking myself. It was very useful several years ago but I don't have a need for a production table today. That being said I know I'd be dissatisfied with anything cheap. I'll hold onto it for the time being and if it starts getting in the way after the cabinets are in I'll let it go.

Looks like progress!

You may already know this, but hang your ceiling drywall first, then do the walls.
If you’re working solo, you can rent a drywall lift at Home Depot, makes it very easy

Progress had been stalled while I finished a reloading room inside the house. I ended up taking the day off to finish the wiring for my lights. I’m going with 48” led and they will be 11 of them. I also took delivery of my cabinets a newage 10 piece set with stainless tops and picked up 40 sheets of OSB which I decided to go with after reading everyone’s reviews of it. Doing nothing but working on this the next couple days so hopefully the pace picks up...

Stefan: What was your source for the glass fronted cabinet in the reloading area? I haven't found any that I like yet, that were not outrageously priced.

I bought it years ago from a research lab that was closing. I think I paid 60 - quality is outstanding but it’s a little shallow for the garage but works well in that area.

Been a pretty busy couple of months but progress is being made. The electrical was completely roughed in with 13 overhead lights. 2 230 volt welding plugs and a whole bunch more 120v plugs. I then insulated the space and put up OSB which got 2 coats of oil based Kilz paint. I caulked all the seems as well and it actually looks better than I thought it would - I’m pleased. I painted the walls and ceiling with SW A100 and CP200.

.75” quarter round was put in all the corners which really helped to finish it off. We’ve had some really hot days recently and I am amazed at how well the garage holds temperature.

Decided on hellfire for the floor which I really like for its weld spatter and chemical resistance.

Hoping to have the azek baseboards installed today!

We had a ridiculously hot August here in Texas so progress has been slow but I did get color on the walls and the cabinets unpacked.

Floor and walls look great! I need to do the floor in my garage, but keep finding reasons to put it off. Looking forward to seeing those cabinets up!

Making some progress. Really pleased with the amount and placement of the lights. These are 13 led 5k led tubes. Also making some more progress on the cabinet installation but got distracted and built a frame on casters for my softener brine tank. Having it on wheels will let me build a shelf just above it and be able to slide it out when I need to take the lid off and add salt.

Strong hand 3 axis clamp and feminine bandsaw were working great!

Well... one corner is complete.

Still have to plumb the rapid air system I’ve had sitting around for 5 months but this is serviceable.
