Mate I've read the last 10 pages, and the first 10 on your build, and i still haven't found out what type of horseless carriage that sweet sweet looking lump of metal is going in!

1/2: i haven't seen a TO DO LIST in a while so seems like the SHED DOWNUNDER'S CEO (BOSS/OWNER) needs some quality time to either learn a few new skills or maybe teach a few some of his. I didn't see BROOMAKER'S in the list of old trades gone by the by so maybe ANDY'S brooms that have made it down under have revived or maintained those skills.

or maybe a few visits from or to the new grandsons and their families?

have a great weekend and i'll try to do the same.

Rudi, here it is a 96 MG F that my son runs in the Super Sprint Series at Winton, Sandown and Phillip Island.

There is a few more pictures in the photo albums in my profile.

Pretty incredible stuff! Lost trades? Not yet!

Andy Lost Trades is a very popular event.
As for the name it is more like show casing Old School Craftsmanship in my opinion.
There are some talented people out there and it is a fantastic opportunity to see what they do..

You should bring the broom maker out for next years event..;)

CHEERS (ICE TEA STILL FOR ME)

drives, its Saturday afternoon here and I have been running around like a headless chook this morning ( very little GJ time as well ):eyecrazy:

It went like this:

. picked up a trailer load of 3/4 " bluestone for the gardens first up.
. Then stopped in at the Supermarket and picked up a few things for Mrs 1/2 Cup.
. Out to the hardware store and brought some primmer sealer and paint roller covers for Mrs 1/2 Cup as she is painting Andrews newly dry walled walk in robe today.
. Then out to Andrews dropped of all what Mrs 1/2 Cup needed, masked the kick boards in the robe and feed the dog Rex.
( Andrew, Amy and Aiden are in Melbourne for the weekend )
. Returned home.
. Lawn edges.
. Next door ( our tenant from the West Wing) popped in for a chat.
. Start on the lawns.
. My Dad popped in for a chat.
. Dad leaves.
. Finish the lawns.
. Mrs 1/2 Cup returns from Andrews having finished the first coat in the robe.
. Guess who has to clean the paint brushes.:eyecrazy:

As for a To Do List its coming after I have my seniors nap..

I have to agree that Andys' broom making machine would fit right in at the event. ( invite sent )

Have a great day and thank you one and all for your visit..

All, so the rest of Saturday went like this:

. Our West Wing tenant followed me up with his blower vac after I did my lawns as he was doing the West Wing at the same time.

. Replaced a lead and plug top on our West Wing tenants Dewalt jack hammer. ( not to bad when a cold beer comes with the jack hammer )

. Put out some Round up in the West Wing.

. started to make over the garden beds here with the bluestone.

Beer o'clock now:beer: I am worn out.

Edit. Our neighbour had to have their cat put down today and they are pretty upset so we are having a long counselling session over a beer or two tonight..

Well Andy I believe you will make a fine contribution to this event.

Looking forward to your visit next year, should I book a site?????

Might as well go ahead and book me a spot. I need to visit Dan and can just drive by his place on the way over to yours. Now if I can find a broom maker to go with the most excellent broom machine we'll be in business:rocker:

A word about your tenant... they have to go. Sorry, but I insist. While you seem to like them it is just not working out for the rest of us. Your tenants are evil. They are making every other tenant in the entire world look bad. All the other tenants in the world cannot be bad, so it must be your tenants who are the problem. Sorry, but please get their lease terminated and allow the rest of the tenants in the world to have a modicum of dignity. Be a decent person for once, boot them.

Please.

(but try to keep that DeWalt jack hammer)

Whew, I just got caught up on your thread. Methinks this is the most active thread on GJ! Loved the family pic with Aiden! Keep it up and he'll be able to diagnose any engine troubles by feeling an engine with his feet. That would be quite a feat!

And to catch up on a few other developments: Congrats on the drone license and making it through the paper jungle to get there! Very good work on the engine! Sorry to hear about the drone crash. Good thing they are insured! I betting they are not the cheap "toy" drones.

Finally, while reading the discussion about wives with tape measures ... it sounds like its about the same drill as reading a software license agreement ... in the end you just ignore everything and click "I agree!" :willy_nil:willy_nil:willy_nil

Hope the neighbors get over the loss of their cat! Good excuse to throw a cold one or two back!

Cheers! Now I'm off to investigate a crack ...

Andy, Ok it looks like full steam ahead, I am happy to stand in if you can't find another broom maker.

I am still laughing over your comments on our tenants in the West Wing :lol_hitti

I totally agree that the Dewalt Jack hammer has to stay with me as I believe it only proper given the grief they cause:

They pay the rent on time.
They water and mow the lawns.
They are quiet.
They often give the landlord a nice cold beer.
They follow me up with the blower after I have done my lawns.

:headscrat

But the neighbourhood residents are giving me heaps about their frequent BBQ s out on the deck, the smell of a Sunday roast and a Scotch fillet steak cooking is driving them insane..

Slim, the thread does tend to move some what, there is always some thing to share around here and at work.

Nothing like starting out young in the garage. I am sure Aiden will grow up with the sights and smells you get in the shed. First thing is to train him to put the tools back where they come from;)

Our Surveys manager is in talks with the supplier of the Drone which BTW is still under warranty and well insured. So we should have an out come this week as to the way forward.

"Licence Agreement " you are spot on there.. " Tick I Agree" I shudder to think what would happen as you can never tick the " Disagree ":scared:

Our neighbours and great friends I might add will get over their loss I am sure but I think few more beers may help..

All the best with your crack...

Thanks again guys for dropping by, have a good one..

1/2: even on what might seem NON BUSY DAYS to some of us you never stop and a good reason why you don't seem to have FSD, ORGANIZING constantly on your brain and you get stuff done. I hope Andy doesn't jinx your good tenant situation cause when he has one he doesn't like he just sells the place and they have to move or deal with the new owner that won't be as nice as ANDY. we've all heard and maybe some of us experienced in person BAD TENANTS and i hope you never ever do. at one point i had 4 rentals and my best tenant kept the house clean, paid on time and left the house clean when they checked out in the middle of the night with no notice. more than not they'd pay on time and leave the house with plenty of repairs to do when they moved out or not pay and maybe keep up the place or some combination of these. seriously you are blessed so far and deservedly so.

of course a lot of us don't fully remodel a home just to rent it out either so maybe that was part of the reason for you and Mrs. 1/2's success. that and hiring a BULLDOG (or she sounds like one) for a property manager that eliminates the marginal renters to begin with.

in any case i'm happy you have a good situation with the new tenant that is becoming a friend and hope it takes him a while to get permits and his new home built so he can stick around until you are ready to make it a GJ B&B.

i'm guessing today is your holiday day so hopefully you have plans to enjoy it either by resting, taking in a show or fair or just by some QST. or since RESTING isn't in your vocabulary maybe helping Mrs. 1/2 finish up the painting at Andrews so he can finish getting his car(s) ready for race season.

all the best!!

drives, thank you yet again..

I do like to keep myself busy and as for Flat Surface Disease I think I have developed enough immunity to it now. I just hate tripping over stuff and not being able to find stuff when you need it.

We have been pretty blessed with our new tenants let me tell you:thumbup:

You certainly hear some horror stories. Our property manager has done a fantastic job in the first instance and would take no prisoners should we have a hint of trouble, which in our case will not be an issue. The tenants are the sort of people that make great neighbours:thumbup:

I understand that their new home is still another six months off completion, so the GJ B&B is on hold for the moment..

I spent Sunday just pottering really, first up is was out to Andrews to feed Rex and completed some cutting in for Mrs 1/2 Cups paint job on the robe.

My Dad called mid morning and I made a bracket for his slide bolt to suit his garden shed lock.
Then spent most of the afternoon in the garden spreading the 3/4 Blue Stone with 2" bluestone ballast as highlights on a few beds, I am still only half way through the load I picked up on Saturday morning. Lots of wheel barrow and shovel work as I can't get the trailer close to the beds with out wrecking the lawns.

The beds look great with the bluestone as it blends in well with our red bricks and also are a fantastic mulch, weed suppressant and retain moisture well.

As well as the non negotiables - walk Shelby and kick back in the shed catching up on a bit of reading.

Mrs 1/2 Cup has gone for a drive today ( I not a big fan of travel on long weekends a the traffic can be mayhem ) so a little bit more work in the garden and then maybe some QST...

Note to file: Mrs 1/2 Cup ( in her infinite wisdom ) has suggested that I make some formal vegetable planter boxes to sit in between the roses for next season. I had grown a few tomato plants just like that a couple of years ago and the really complimented the roses believe it or not but it was only a temporary set up at the time..

Have a top day and thank you for your visit..

All, I am convinced that the forces of evil within the MG F racing fraternity ( no names mentioned to protect the guilty parties involved ) have conspired to never seeing me complete another project of my own ever again..:headscrat

Or should I look at it as a golden opportunity to retire from work and go into business rebuilding Rover K Series engines.:dunno:

Earlier this morning I received a delivery in the Shed Downunder

1 only Brand new uprated Rover K series block assembly.

1 only Brand new VHPD MS 2 cylinder head.

And the gasket goop has not even set hard on the first build..:willy_nil

That makes three of them here now...:willy_nil

Have a good one..

1/2: at least the engines showing up now are a lot shinier than the last one. :bounce:

if you weren't talented or popular i bet you wouldn't be smiling as much. good luck finding the HAPPY MEDIUM of fun and work.

also are you DRONELESS for a few weeks while it's in the shop getting new wings and repairs?

Mini talents, mini talents! Enjoy a productive week without the aggravation of a drone to lure you away from your first love: management reporting.:bounce:

Andy, I am afraid we disagree on that point Many Talents and I am sure others here would back me up on that score...

I am looking forward to the short week at work, my calendar is fairly full as usual and fortunately no management reporting for another week but I do have to get through the following:

. Procurement plan appraisal and approval.
. Tender evaluation and scoring for a lift replacement.
. Tender evaluation meeting.
. Conflict of interest attestation.
. A site meeting that's two hours drive from here.
. Numerous meetings.

I do miss the Drone already..

drives, the rule is in the Shed Downunder I don't clean filthy engines unless its one of mine.
Andrew will be taking his old engine home to do just that let me tell you.:thumbup:

This build will be a long term one as its only at the procurement stage at this point in time and I will be leveraging of some of the lessons learned from the first build..

The other plus is that I don't have to do the cylinder head mods which chewed up at least 40 hours on the other one. This will be fully CNC machined.

Drone less for a six to eight weeks if it is to be repaired but I get the feeling our Survey team will be looking for a brand new unit given the issues we have had with the old one. We do have a lot of work on the books for it already and need to be reassured that we can be confident that it will stay in the air..

Thanks guys, have a great day..

. Conflict of interest attestation.

I'm seeing an issue with this one. All those wonderful activities to do and yet your interest seems to be primarily with a drone.:scared:

And then they require a conflict of interest attestation, stating you have no conflicts of interest. Hmmm....

On the positive side, procurement issues are almost as much fun as management reporting.

Oh how your work list makes me glad it's Saturday!!

Andy, there is conflict of interest every which way I look around me for sure.:willy_nil

Procurement, don't get me started on that one as we are going through the integration of a new system as we speak..:shocking:

Any way it pays the bills and keeps a roof over our head plus I can have some fun along the way..

Seriously having another Mod in the Aussie time zone will be a great asset to all members of the GJ as at some times the spammers take away what we all enjoy.
