I don't know where the idea originated but hot cornbread fresh from the oven crumbled up in ice cold milk is great. Even makes a good supper.

Back in the 30's in Okla. this and sausage gravy kept some families going. My grandfather called gravy "life-saver" as some meals that was all they had.

1/2 cup enjoyed the drone picture. Do you wear the fluorescent vests so the pilot of the drone can see you?

Herb,
I have had it a few times, but like grits it wasn't very common in our house growing up, not enough money for fancy sides. LOL
-Trying not to talk about food at my mid morning break is not easy!

You all (Y'all) don't forget your crumbled up cornbread in a tall glass with ice cold butter milk poured over the top for a mid morning snack.
I think that is an "Arkie" invention, but ask JB as it may have come from the "Okies".
Best Regards
Herb

Herb, yet again I had to Google the recipe and I can just imagine how great it would taste just out of the oven. Funnily enough I don’t often have snacks during the day just my basic three meals and if I do graze it will be fresh fruit or if Mrs ½ Cup is baking some cake or bikkies with a cuppa.

All the best for your fishing trip..

Dwight

Dwight, I have to agree with you on that score, you can’t beat anything fresh out of the oven.

We still do sausages with gravy and a heap of veggies with that. They make a pretty good meal…

Thank you . In regards to safety vests we are obliged to wear them when we do any outdoor work and that includes flying the Drone it’s just part of our work place policy. That said they do give an operator or spotter visual awareness of each other as you do tend to focus on what you are doing as you are flying.

JB, I am with you on that score. It’s 7 am here now and I may just have to pop down to the Bakery and get a Ham and Cheese Toasty……

Drives, we really love our Salmon and would have it in one form or another at least twice a week usually with a selection of veggies..

I do have the very occasional urge for sweets but never look for them..

The weather here and other work commitments has grounded us over the past week. Looking for some clear but cold days over the remainder of the week to get some more training in. Will keep you posted..

Again, thank you one and all for dropping by, have a good one..

Very unusual for my Postman to drive in to see me unless he has something that would not fit in the mail box. Well a very large package arrived today with a couple of laser cut items. One being a Ford sign and another a very large Cummins logo.

thank-you-animated-zxigBq6cA.jpeg

I guess I do not have to say I was suitably impressed.

Xtremek, to answer your question in one word yes. Now where would you like me to start as the list is a long one.:willy_nil

Better still I will articulate me in a nut shell like so:

• I enjoy what I do and have always taken pride in doing whatever it is to the best of my ability.
• Trust me I don’t always get it right but I never give up on a challenge.
• I do not multi task very well and like to stay focused on the project at hand.
• Understand your limitations but never be afraid to go outside the envelope, within reason and due consideration of the ramifications, be that a safety concern and damaging things.
• Use your resources to fully understand whatever you undertake. There is no better place to start than right here on the GJ.
• I was fortunate to have some great mentors right from my early years till now as the learning never stops and those lessons in life stay with you.
• Have the right tools for the job. In the case of the shot gun I had some great instructions that came with the kit and the only tools I needed were two pin punches, a screw driver, some cleaning rags and a small ball peen hammer with the only improvisation required being a barrel nut removal tool that was basically a strip of insertion rubber to prevent and damage to the coating and a set of vice grips. That said there are lots of tools I would like to have but just cannot justify the expense.

I trust this helps, have a great day..:thumbup:

Dan, thank you..

Very well put. I'm not good at multitasking either. However I am very good at starting projects I have no time for.:willy_nil

Andy, thank you as well:thumbup:

Me to I have enough " started " projects to last a life time and could use my time a whole heap better..:willy_nil

All, stating the obvious its nearly the weekend here:rocker:

We managed to squeeze some Drone time in this week which was a bonus...:rocker: Other than that it was getting square eyes in front of this computer.

This weekend Mrs. 1/2 Cup is showing Evie on Saturday so I am looking forward to some uninterrupted QST perhaps have a crack at some of those projects that have been languishing for so long.

Thanks for dropping by and have a good one..

VERY WELL SAID 1/2!!

Drives, sincerely thank you...

All, our over night temperatures have been hovering around the freezing mark the last few weeks with the day time temperatures getting up to a clear and sunny 60 f.

Not a lot of QST this weekend as I took the advantage to work in the garden.
Even though its winter here now its amazing what you can get done in a week end. Our fortnightly Green Waste is full.
The garden is really into winter mode now with the roses in for a prune in the next couple of weeks.
All in all it has been a very satisfying week end even if Shelby helps an drags clippings every where.

Mrs 1/2 Cup and Evie
took out the "***** Challenge" at the show Saturday. Evies' half brother " Boozer " scooped the pool and took out "Best in Show" over 750 all breeds which was a huge achievement..

Thanks for dropping by and have a great day..

Well said Steve. I have learned to multi task as many projects await priority and in some cases justification of funds. I prefer the big projects as the money ******* justifies completion. "The best part of a day in the shop is fulfillment! What you are challenged with, and learn there, feeds the unquenchable fire that makes a reactor out of your brain and warms the soul." (boneyard)

Bobby, Mrs 1/2 Cup multi tasks well but I am afraid I really struggle with it.:dunno:

Larger projects around here are easy in so much I can remain focused and you are right the expense is justified to that end supports expenditure on additional tools ( as did the West Wing and Carport )

You are spot on when you say fulfilment because at the end of each day working on a project I do take a quiet moment and reflect on what I have done for the day...

It is nice when life is interesting. A day of diversity can break up the whole month. I enjoy reading about your adventures and tasks.

Terrick, it sure is:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Thank you as well. I do like to think that what I share here all revolves or impacts in around the Shed one way or another, be that work, the garden, projects around here and life in general.

1/2, Good to see things are going well. Congrats on the dog show result, and I look forward to seeing the KSeries hit the dyno.

On the food front, I have 2 fried eggs on a toasted bread roll with melted cheese every morning before work, I vary the sauce that I put on it to change things up! Peri peri this morning... Weekends I do the same, or make up an omelette or some scrambled eggs (often with hollandaise sauces and some fried mushrooms). I do like my brekkie!

Thank you Andrew:thumbup:

Mrs 1/2 Cup and Evie are kicking goals with 7 points to go her Australian Championship is within sight.
They are of down to Bulla ( Melbourne ) tomorrow to do battle again :3gears:

I have my fingers crossed all goes well with the dyno, its in the good hands of Les Small of the Australian Touring Car fame working with the likes of Brock, Grice and more recently The Touring Car Masters cars and some of the Dunlop Series teams.:3gears:
Les has quite a bit of experience on the Rover K Series engines:3gears:

Your brekkie menu is to die for.. I leave special treats like that to the weekend and just have a bowl of fresh fruit weekdays but sneak the odd egg and bacon for smoko at work..

All we have a long weekend here as on Monday we celebrate the Queens Birthday.

Looking forward to making the most of it..:rocker:

In the Shed..

1/2: did Les volunteer to help or did Andrew find him and ask him to? i'm turning a bit blue from crossing my fingers that the car performs as well as you and Andrew think it will so best of luck with that.

Mrs. 1/2 knows her stuff and sounds like anything she touches gets better.

what's on the TO DO LIST that is liable to change on a moment's notice for this weekend?

i finally had a few dry days to do that critter repair damage to my front yard last fall and i posted a few pictures on the GET HEALTHY THREAD if you want to see a before and after of my lawn. still wondering what it was since i live only 15 minutes from downtown Seattle it eliminates a lot of critters that dig for their food.

have a great SATURDAY as i say to Andy 6 days a week.

cheers

I've tried to leave it alone, but that's not my strong suit. I agree a little diversity is nice, but it reminds me of the curse:

"May you have an interesting life"

I'm cursed.

And another three day weekend in the land down under the radar...

drives, the dyno tune is certainly no freebee but we are comfortable in leaving it in his capable hands.
Les Smalls reputation and experience is second to none not to mention his past experience with the Rover K series.
He is the sort of bloke that looks after a car as his own..

Mrs 1/2 Cup was up and away at 5am this morning and wishing her all the best in the show ring today...

Your lawn will come up a treat, where we are there is not to many issues like yours..

And likewise, have a good one..

Andy ;)

One thing is for sure both of us have plenty of diversity in our lives...;)

Yep yet another 3 day weekend and that's it until October and November...:3gears:

Who knew that the Queen was such a patron of QST. Grand Lady to think of you like that. Have a good long weekend.

rmalkow, I never thought of it like that..

Thank you your Majesty  as a loyal subject I will enjoy...

All, the To Do List for this grand occasion goes like this:

. First on the cards I have to rearrange our TV and Data networks, a job I have been putting off for some time now which means spending some time crawling through the roof space. Pretty much a days work.

. Walk Shelby.

. A little more garden time.

. Our new carport for the West Wing is due to be installed next week so we have to clear the decks for that with the tenant.

. Fabricate and install a new gate post for the side access to our property as the old post has moved over time and I didn't allow any tolerance for it to move over time and its a real pain to open now. Another days work.

. Progressively working on a few of those Ugly Areas in the shed.

. Kick back and smell the roses.....;)

Thank you one and all, have a great week end..

All, our three day long weekend is coming to an end.

Thank you your Majesty...

Its amazing what you can get done and kick back and relax at the same time:

. Data and TV network modifications done and dusted with the help of Shelby ( not ) I was inside trying to pull some cables down an exterior wall and had lifted a roof tile to do so and I made the fatal mistake of running them on the path out side so they would draw in easily. Things were going well until I had gotten half way down the wall when my pull wire had gotten stuck, ******!
I poked my head out the window to see if had been hooked on something and here is Shelby chewing on the other end.:willy_nil

. Shelby and I went for walk each day after the fog had lifted.

. Kicked back and smelt the roses.

. Just a little garden time.

. With the data wiring out of the road the next thing was to sort out all my cable storage it wasn't what you would call the tidiest.

. Next on the list will be all my paint storage, there is cans of half empty domestic type paints that I am sure we all have taking up space in the shed.

. Andrew dropped my next ( long term ) project that he needs done a of MG F Cup Car Fuel Injection System.

I guess shelby was called a few different names after that effort. I had a rogue dog chew some of my cable on a drum, but never while I was pulling it in.
Glad to hear you had a productive and restful long weekend.

Those going to be individual throttle body's too, i know you can get fuel injected throttle body's that look like carbs, those trumpets reminded me of them.

I'm planning something for my zed on the L28 before i put in a V8. I have 6 42mm Mikumi Carbs from a 90's honda blackbird motorbike... One of the blokes on the zed forum had them on his car, and he upgraded to Keihin FCR Racing Carburetors.

I scored his old set up for $200 including manifold/linkages the lot! ha! Manifold is abit dodgey so im making my own. should go good.

The throttle linkage must be interesting. I bet Shelby meant well. Sorry that your three day weekend is over, by the sounds of it, you got a lot done.

I'm sure Shelby saw dad working on the cable, laid it out nicely, then some squirrel or something in the attic was pulling it so she needed to hold it until dad got back and would take care of things. I hope you rewarded her for her efforts.

FI looks interesting...

1/2: i bet your son's new intakes will look pretty sweet when you get finished with them. i have to mention this cause your stainless steel bench tops were absolutely a TREAT to look at. i bet there are some restaurants that are not that well taken care of that they prepare food on.

funny story about Shelby and she was just trying to help.

best of luck with the new carport for the West Wing and i hope that turns out better than you hope it will. i bet your AWESOME TENANTS will like it especially now that the weather is turning for your winter. it's finally maybe summer up here cause we finally have more sunny days than rainy ones and some heat too.

cheers

I wish all weekends were like that..;)

Oh oh, I'm using Tapatalk again......

Lyndon, I could not go crook at Shelby I just had to laugh as I should have known better. She gets very creative if you leave her to her own devices.

It was a top weekend all round a bit of this and a bit of that..

Oops I did neglect to mention the show, Evie scored another six point toward her title leaving just four points to go ( so I am reliably informed ) to gain her Australian Title. Her next show is in a couple of weeks’ time and fingers crossed all goes well. Mrs ½ Cup is pretty pleased with the way she performs in the ring.

Rudi, we will be leaving them as they are for this next build. These are original MG F Cup Car units that are getting hard to obtain now.

These will need a full rebuild which shouldn’t be that hard to do by the looks of them.

You have scored well with yours. Are there any issues in mapping them to your ECU?

The throttle linkage must be interesting. I bet Shelby meant well. Sorry that your three day weekend is over, by the sounds of it, you got a lot done.

Strouty, the linkages are I fact better to adjust than his aftermarket Jenvey set that Andrew runs on his race engine at least you can get at things with these..

Shelby does mean well as it is just attention seeking and she certainly got my attention.

Back at work now and feeling pretty relaxed about things here. It’s a very satisfying feeling to reflect back on what you have accomplished, you must be feeling the same with your efforts in your shop.

I was thinking the same thing about Shelby. Probably thought it was a snake that needed to be taken care of.

Glad to hear you had a good weekend.

Dan, I don’t think Shelby has ever seen a snake but I can imagine she would take to it like she does with a cable or hose for that matter. Note there is no eye contact - she knows I am not happy...

Dan and I are wondering if we can borrow some of your ambition (I hope I'm not speaking out of turn, Dan).

Xtremek, borrow away.

PS I do have my slack attack moments let me tell you.

I'm sure Shelby saw dad working on the cable, laid it out nicely, then some squirrel or something in the attic was pulling it so she needed to hold it until dad got back and would take care of things. I hope you rewarded her for her efforts.

FI looks interesting...

Andy, actually I gave her a big bone and that kept her distracted for a couple of hours until she buried it which allowed me to finish up..

The fuel injection overhaul will be another enjoyable side project should I get bored and be looking for something to do..

1/2: i bet your son's new intakes will look pretty sweet when you get finished with them. i have to mention this cause your stainless steel bench tops were absolutely a TREAT to look at. i bet there are some restaurants that are not that well taken care of that they prepare food on.

funny story about Shelby and she was just trying to help.

best of luck with the new carport for the West Wing and i hope that turns out better than you hope it will. i bet your AWESOME TENANTS will like it especially now that the weather is turning for your winter. it's finally maybe summer up here cause we finally have more sunny days than rainy ones and some heat too.

cheers

drives, thank you.

You are spot on when it comes to restaurants and cleanliness, we quite often see some of them on the news out here.. :shocking:
My shop has been a work in progress over the years and it is nice to work in event though it is small. I try to keep on top of things every time I am in there so it doesn’t get out of hand.

Shelby does have attention deficit syndrome for sure and that is just typical of the breed ( Belgium Sheppard – Malimious ) they are a high drive dog.
Sometimes you could do without that help but she means well..

We are looking forward toward getting the carport done as we are having some pretty heavy frosts now and I do know our tenants will appreciate that to. They most certainly are fantastic tenants.

Thank you one and all, have a great day..:rocker:

Ha! Shelby was conducting a brittle hose test.
"Yep, the hose is brittle so I saved you from getting wet. I'm a such a good dog."

1/2: Shelby always looks at peace and you can post pictures of her anytime you want.

i haven't seen any RODENT DAMAGE in a while so does that mean that maybe all this DOG SHOW stuff is helping them around the house or did Mrs. 1/2 cut you off the damage posts until the RODENTS get their Champion status. :dunno:

any drone flying or still working out the kinks in administration at work on which company's drone will actually get the nod to get to do the job?

cheers

Shorty, If Shelby goes quiet I know she is up to something an you have to be quick to avoid any collateral damage.

For the most part she is pretty good and loves being with me in the shed and kicking the ball around.

Shelby is just keeping you on your toes Steve.

Aaron, keeping me on my toes is right, there is never a dull moment with Shelby around..

FInally had time to catch up on this.

you do some amazing stuff down there. keep it up!

Growlertdi, thank you for your effort to take the time to catch up on the thread, I trust you have enjoyed the journey..

I do really enjoy what I do and have no intention to put the brakes on anytime soon….thank you again..

Or is that hands and knees to collect the pieces.

At least, if you have a tin of Jubilee clips and some copper pipe, you can fix it all again.

Rian, It was time for a new hose any way, Shelby just hastened the process.:willy_nil

Her favourites are but not limited to the following:

• My tub of clean grease rags.
• The shop stool on wheels as she has learnt that it moves quite easily.
• Hoses, that goes without saying.
• Brooms and small brushes.
• I have seen her drag around an angle grinder by the cord that I had left out inadvertently.

You just have to keep an eye on her.:dunno:

drives, Pictures of Shelby in the shed to follow. Andrew caught a video of her playing with the shop stool last week and I will see how I go getting that posted up.

The rodents are still being rodents, the trick is to make things as rodent proof as you possibly can. The main protagonist Stevie is back with the breeder for a spell so we are not seeing any excavation work in the garden or extra exit points in our fly wire screen doors so that’s a plus..:shocking:

On the Drone front we do some training on a weekly basis and have been doing some point cloud mapping at a number of locations as well. Our main focus of late has been on the mapping side of things and becoming familiar with the new software environment that come with the new drone. The administrative stuff is ticking over in the background requiring our MD to actually obtain an Aviation Reference Number being the last hurdle before we submit the paperwork to the Civil Aviation Authority.

Thank you one and all and have a great day..
