Couple of things (yes - I'm still here....).

Did you ever mention what the dyno results were for the MG engine? I can't see it... :dunno: :3gears: How much mumbo is the little beast putting out?

And congrats to you and the better/other half on Australian Champion status for the pups.

I have to fess up to being a bit slack on keeping the thread going the last week myself as I have been a bit pre occupied with work, one certain MG F and going through the process to get Dad in to a retirement village, more on that later.

Thank you once again for your visit..

1/2: i wish you all the best with re locating your Dad so he's a happy camper. moving out of their home won't be easy for my parents, but they've been doing pretty well since i put in the stair lift and my sister agreed to bring them groceries every week. much better than a retirement home we actually had a deposit on cause they are smiling everytime we visit them and when i call on the phone i can hear mom is doing well. i know there will be my time, but if you can get someone to check in on your DAD if you and your other family can't regularly he might still like his home better and the cost of the care might not be much more or even less than the retirement home and he'll still have his STUFF.

any of his grandkids or relatives need a job maybe taking care of him??

how's the DRONE now that the MG is flying on it's own again??

cheers

Thank you Dan:thumbup:

Your worldly and intellectual advise is most welcome at any time..

I was waiting for your sage wisdom, Dan. Sage, isn't that a color of green?

We see Steve is half busy...

Andy, you can add pearls or gems of wisdom as well;)

1/2 busy is right but not in the shed of late unfortunately but one does what one has to do...

Our family has a fair bit of work to do over the next few weeks in terms of logistics and down sizing, stay tuned on that front..

drives, We were offered a in a retirement village for dad for which he put his name down for several years ago and we had just over four days to consider the offer such is the waiting list and an offer that we as a familly was too good to pass up.

At first it was a firm NO I am not moving but in time he has really warmed to the idea now that he has discovered he has a few mates residing there together with a Men's Shed & bowling green with all the facilities, care, transport, his own garden and activities that are just up his alley.
His eye sight is failing as you know.
Dad is a real people type person and I know he will have no trouble integrating.

We will have to down size considerably, that is going to be the tough part but we do have a plan B

More on that later...;)

On the drone front we completed a number of mapping flights for the Surveys team last week which worked out well.

Next week we have been invited to a Careers Expo with the Drone demonstration and give a presentation to year 12 students so that should be interesting for this black duck.

I have spent quite a few hours this week just keeping up on the admin stuff that we are required to do for the Civil Aviation Authority as part of our Operators Certificate.

We have a little bit of work on the MG F still to do, mainly minor improvements.

It looks like rain here on the week end so I am looking forward to some QST working on my stuff....:rocker:

Have a good one and thank you for your visit gentlemen..

Since my mom just moved to similar retirement facilities, I know all about the downsizing. She wanted to move, then she's been perturbed at the chaos involved in moving. She's a very structured person. Best wishes, it's for the best.

Sounds like a great move for your dad! I wish him may enjoyable hours there with his old mates and new mates he will surely meet.

My mom died a year ago and none of us three wanted to deal with her house full of stuff so we didn't. It is mostly still there, with the caretaker living there rent free and taking care of the lawn, etc. It certainly is a low stress route for us. Now that we've put the house for sale we will have to deal with it in some fashion, but as of yet we have no plan. Out of character for all of us.

Will the MG run in the rain?

Gentlemen, this is going to be a tough gig for all of us. I will be spending some time with Dad today sorting through some of his stuff mainly in the house and there is another few days in his garage let me tell you..

My sister has , in terms of the logistics, pretty much gotten things sorted but I can see a couple of garage sales coming up.

Andy, to answer your question the MG will run in the rain once we get the suspension sorted and a new set of wet tyres..

Thank you for dropping by and have a good one..

I'm sure all will be good with your dad 1/2 cup. And the elephant Andy speaks of will be tamed by you shortly.

Hey Andy, I caught that "sage" joke. Only a little green.

Just like eating an elephant...

Andy, spot on...

Looking at the big picture it is daunting, chunk it down and it is doable.

Steve. If you don't already have one, get the family together, right down to the smallest one, and have a nice portrait picture taken. Once dad is moved in, and settled, give it to him to hang with pride. He will smile, knowing he is never alone, every time he looks at it. It's the only real thing we ever accomplish in life anyway; the better part of ourselves we succeed in building into our family! That will be reflected in the smiles of everyone in the picture.

Thank you for an interesting read and making me feel like a complete slacker.
The K Series engine has a reputation in the UK for being damaged if it overheats. I don't know if this is something you have uncovered in your clearly extensive research but forewarned is fore armed.

Bobby, you are spot on there..

There is not a family event that goes by that every moment is captured in a picture one way or another.. My Dad is an avid photographer as is all our family.
That's another issue we have to deal with as he has literally thousands of photos that we all look back on as we have been sorting them for his move, they sure bring back memories

Not forgetting pictures in frames, I think we will run out of wall space to be honest..:headscrat

This year we have all our family home at Christmas and that is always a great photo opportunity..

Have a great day...

Achtung73 firstly hello and welcome to the GJ & secondly a big thank you for your visit.

I have read a lot about the K Series over heating issues & exacerbating the problem is the ambient temperatures out here as well. I believe the car has a larger radiator installed and it is running a different thermostat. To date we have not had any overheating troubles ( touch wood )

We will keep you up to date.

Thank you again...

Checking in to see what you've been up to Steve. I hope you're enjoying a little QST.
I don't know if you remember posting a picture of your Irises and I told you it would be months before we had any in bloom. Well those months went by

Just thought I'd share. I hope you have a great upcoming week.

Dan, thank you for your visit...

I have to fess up to not keeping up with things in the Shed Downunder over the last little while, the story goes like this:

As you know it is winter here, it has been cold, frosty, over cast and dreary for the past few months and I have been suffering with a cold with all the usual symptoms and I just have not been able to shake it despite taking every thing known to man plus some natural remedies..

The net result being that it has gotten progressively worse over the last two weeks.
. Runny nose.
. No energy.
. Feeling lethargic.
. Plus all the usual symptoms, rattly chest & shortness of breath.
. In short just down right miserable..
Last week, I started to loose my voice so it was time to visit my GP who prescribed an inhaller to ease my breathing ( which has worked well ) and some medication.
He gave me a capacity certificate for this week off work as well to let the meds kick in.
I have also been booked in for a CT Scan and a raft of blood tests as the Doc said consider this your 60,000 km test and tune up.

So apart from not doing to much in the Shed, over the last few week I have managed the following:

. Finished the down pipes on the West Wings new carport so it is now ready for final inspection.
. Pottering around the Shed working on those Ugly Areas.
. Helping Andrew tidy up the MG F in readiness for the test and tune day at Winton Motor Raceway next week.
. Still pottering in the garden getting ready for spring.

I do remember your Irises they are looking magnificent...

Our garden, like me, has the winter blues but the roses are just starting to bud now and we are looking forward to some nice sunny & warm days in the coming weeks..

Thank you again for your visit and have a good one..

Dang! Sorry to hear you're down! We'll all give you the same old advice, but really want you to get back up to speed.;)

Andy, thank you.

I had my CT Scan this morning and the doc should have the results back tomorrow.

Bloods ( fasting ) at 8.00 am Tuesday just to top things off..

Hope you get to feeling better. A visit to Florida will warm you up quick.

Shorty, I would have to agree a trip to Florida wold be just what the doctor ordered at the moment;)

I have just been kicking back today and not doing too much at all bar soaking up the few sunny breaks, catching up on some reading and the odd nanna nap...

Thanks guys, enjoy your day..

If you go to Florida, maybe you can sneak a couple lista or vidmar cabinets back in your carry on luggage.

Hope you feel better! I just thought of you while I was posting about some attempted QST for later this week.

Strouty, I would have to build another shed to fit the amount of cabinets you have.. that's a good thought though..

I do feel just a tad better but still no energy or motivation as yet, having the week off work should allow me at least some QST as well. As always there is a never ending list of them around here but there is one I have been putting off for a while now and that is I have an old wine barrel that needs some TLC and I can think of no better therapy than making a start on that project while I am off.

Thanks for dropping by and I trust your QST goes well..

1/2 Cup, Sorry to hear about the illness and hope the combination of meds and rest kick in and get you feeling better.
Now if you make that proposed trip to Florida do it in about 10 days, make a brief visit and continue west to catch the start of Speed Week at Bonneville. It looks to be a good one this year and unfortunately with my building project I most likely will not be able to go.

Burt Munro's grand nephew makes a run on a new Indian Scout this year to try for a record. I'd love to see that and all the other racers.

Go west young man and heal up in the dry heat.

Guys, thank you one and all so much:bowdown:

I was summoned to the docs today and he had read the results from yesterdays CT Scan and it is a collapsed left lung, I have been referred to a specialist and it looks like an op in the next week is quite on the cards:dunno:

One good thing about all this I get to use up some of the 12 months sick leave I have accrued after I get over this on some QST again...

Thanks again and enjoy your day...

somehow I don't see even a collapsed lung keeping you down long enough to use up 12 months of sick leave.

Hope it all goes well, and you're back at it in no time.
