The beer fridge is an issue, i will stock up for christmas.

Since those pictures were taken i have tidied and rationalised some what and the rule of thumb now is that i do not close the doors with out a clean up, wipe down and put stuff away. Well most times any way.;)

. Industrial Retro table build.
. Bench seats build for the outdoor area.
. Dawn vice rebuild for the fabrication table.
. Conservation work on an antique wooden wall phone for my sister.
. Electrical refit of my sons house.

The wall phone I am conserving is for my sister, one of the many current projects.

Antique wall phone..jpg

I have one complete wall phone that's similar and one that I used the case to mount our home phone in.

The property main switchboard upgrade. Just one more from the list!! Work in progress.

I was not able to find a suitable domestic switchboard that would cater for my needs and any thing industrial was to large to fit in the existing space i have without making some huge changes and being without power for a day or so whilst the change over was undertaken so the solution is to build my own.
Specs are;
100 amp 415 volt supply.
Manual change over switch for a gen set alternative supply
Surge and over voltage protection.
Safety switches (Residual Current Devices) to all circuits up to 20 amps (light and power only)
Off peak 2 rate metering.
The enclosure is made from CNC routed 3mm brushed aluminium which is still a work in progress.

And finished it of with a pale ale from my sisters and her partners new brewery in Bendigo - Brookes Beer, a nice way to finish a busy weekend.

Note the Channellock opener. how's that for political correctness?

Not seeing the photos :dunno:. You may have them in a hidden format :dunno: .

Hmm and I have been to the brewery and did not get any beer .

Don't know about the pics?? I will investigate tonight!!

There are applying for a liquor licence so they can actually legally serve beer for tastings on the premises.

A couple of the Model A. Just a preview at this point.
More pics. to follow as we continue with the thread.

View media item 34363,

An original surround I recently imported then spent a week on the buff to get it to look like this.
I have not had to remove the emblem or crank hole cover as they were that good. I would rate it 9 out of 10, it was a real gamble brought unseen and I would have been divorced should I had not been satisfied with it. Failure was not an option as I had brought 6 others in my 15 year quest to get a good one.

The guards just out of the booth, mirror material. I am pretty chuffed with the outcome.

More random stuff I have built. Tables are a bit of a theme around here!

View media item 31943
Workbench - one of the many.
59" L x 31" W x 39" H
Frame 2" x 2" square tube.
Top - 1 1/2" thick Oregon with Australian oak trim.
Record V175 vice.

Sturdy, simple and practical. When it comes to workbenches, IMHO I like to have a mix of both timber and steel tops.

I am slowly working towards getting my stuff in order, I would hate to total the hours spent just looking for the right nut, bolt, bracket that I thought I had but didn't really or could not find it. Frustrating!
I picked up a few more spare part trays last week to add to the collection in my quest to getting things into some semblance of order.

Like I say you can keep it if you want. But if you can't find it. It will do you no good !

In my small garage, where space is at a premium i have adopted the 5 S methodology and as part of that if i have not used it in 5 years it goes, either sold, donated to charity, given away to friends and relatives or recycled.
It is amazing just how much space you free up when every thing has a place and is in its place. I still have a ways to go yet.

Loving the pics Steve, That model A looks to be a very nice build and the paint looks like it is a foot deep (beautiful). Your system of every 5 years you do a clean out is a good idea but i seem to do it every 2 years lately (****** floods) otherwise i would have stuff from the last 38 years of my life.:lol_hitti

I saw your flood pics:shocking:
In reality the clean out is a continual process. I have sold a heap of stuff on Gumtree lately with great results.

Bench Builds for The Shed Downunder.

Inspired by the plethora of exquisite bench builds that I have seen and drooled over, on the forum, I recently decided to have a go at one.

All of my dirty work is for the most part done outside the garage on a concrete apron with limited fixtures to do my work on hence the need for a multi function movable bench.

As you have seen in previous posts( #46, #67 ), I have primarily stuck to the one basic design that works for me so I am just building on that for the new bench.( no pun intended )

The only sketch up program I know - pen and paper!

Did they have Sears & Roebuck catalogs for taking care of details in Australia back in the day? We lived in a hunting camp one summer that had no indoor plumbing and the catalog served as the tissue. They were very large in the 1950s.

Yes, there have been I few that I have seen over the years, not Sears and Roebuck that I am aware of, some of the other Aussie members may recall?? My dad gave me a Chandlers catalogue and its full of nice stuff from a time gone by but its a little older, more 30s.

I had about 20 - 7 ft. lengths of 3 x 3 x 1/8 square section that were originally the property perimeter fence posts until we replace the fence a couple of years ago. I had always intended to repurpose them into a bench at some point. Given that I had plenty of material I thought that if I am making one bench its not a lot more work to make 2 and while I was on the go have a crack at the bench seats for the "Alfresco" dining area table as well, then I can tick them of my project list!!

Time to load up the trailer, head to work and make use of the cold saw which does a far better cut than the chop saw with the added bonus of not ******* the neighbours off with the noise.
