Dear All,

I have many of the 1/2 works I'd tags that have been recently pictured around the world, I had these made under strict instructions from the 1/2 Cup (Dad) for my race engine, so I printed a few extra - hence why some are seen around the world today.

If anyone wants one free of charge I'm gladly happy to post to out the G.J members world wide.

On one condition that these get sent, Dad receives a post on his thread with a picture of the tag proudly located within your special place for Q.S.T.

Please inbox me if you require a 1/2 works I'd tag I shall make some more and happily send them out.

Many thanks and kind regards to you all 1/4 Cup.

Andrew

It would be a privilege to have one to put beside his Ford sign that he made for me.

I will message you tomorrow.

Andrew, I doubt we can get a name change as that is no longer easy so the 1/4 Cup name may create some confusion. Pity you did not join with that name.

Andrew, I am going to put in a vote for Simon to get one...I think he would be extremely appreciative of such a gift!

I appreciate the gesture. I am not going to ask for one as I have something more value to me that reminds me more of my mate Steve. It can be found via this link> https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/album.php?albumid=3083

Nice one ! Simon you may not ask but you shall receive. I think it's fitting.

You have been a great help to myself and it's sincerely appreciated.

Andrew,

All I have done for you I have done out of respect for your Dad and my good mate. Your Dad has done plenty for me in the short time I have known him here on the GJ. When I catch up with you and we can sit in your Dads Shed and have a chat one on one that is all the thanks I will require. I am just happy to pay it forward and help others here on the forum just as your Dad was always willing to do.

Just received this in the mail today. What a touching piece to help me remember to always find some QST when I'm out in the Garage and to remember all the good things your Dad had to say about my humble space and projects! I will strive to do things in a way that would make Steve proud!
I don't think this will be it's final resting place, but now it's where it will be one of the first things I see when I enter from the house.

A month ago today we were all saddened to hear of Steve's passing.

But we collectively have not forgotten him and I am joyous today at all of the outpouring that has taken place.

1/2 Cup taught us a lot and when his memory fades the lessons will still be there.

Thank you my friend.

Can't believe it's been a month already.

Steve has left a lasting legacy and his spirit will live on in sheds all around the world.

Indeed ! I caught up with a few threads today that I haven't read for a while. Steve cropped up numerous times , offering encouragement and advice. Just wow.

....talking about sheds :
I have always cherished my time tinkering in even my little garden shed .
I have secretly empathised with the confusion of some of our overseas friends that consider a shed as a small place to store your lawnmower whereas a 'shop is usually a larger place where you make stuff.. = our shed. Yet to us Aussies , a shed is a place to store your lawnmower and a shed is where you make stuff, as sometimes our sheds are small , and one and the same !! Well.. at least It's very clear to me :lol_hitti
Very confusing to my wife when I finally built a new large shed and kept the small shed for the lawnmower. We already have a garage for the cars , so what to call the new building ? I tried calling it a shop but was given a shopping list every time I said I was going to the shop. So , we have agreed to "the shed" and "THE SHED" . Works really well now:beer:
So , "QUALITY SHED TIME" , it is

Yes it's been a month since Dads (1/2's) passing, let me tell u it's been a hard time, I recall calling a fellow G.J member in absolute tear to provide an update on the situation.
Boy can I tell you Simon was great, all G.J members have been the same.

Which I and our family can't thank you all enough for the support and all things that have been done in dads memory.

A few little item will be posted to all who has sent me there address, in which I shall be sending over the next few days.
I look forward to seeing pics of the location in you special place on this thread, one last request - what was a standout item/comment/ moment each of you best remembers Dad by?

Many thanks yet again to you all

My father always used to say" not this little black duck!" Dad has been gone over 30 years. Every time I read a post of your dads with black duck in it it bought a smile to my face. Never heard anyone else use it in modern times, guess yr dad learnt it from his?

That's the best way to honor someone, keep them alive in memory and story.

I lost my dad 17 years ago yesterday and I can still remember the last few conversations with him and it doesn't seem all that long ago.

I wish I could say it gets easier but for me it hasn't. All it takes is a song, a saying or something my memory flashed back to and I tear up again.

Thank you Gazza in Australia for the QST stickers.

@CraigRK obviously snagged one and Dennis Jones gets one too.

Once I have decided on the right place, which may be inside my house (I live there and pay the mortgage) I will show its place of honour.

Trusting Steve will approve.

Gazza sent a few extra stickers for UK based members.

If you are active on this thread and want one to use, please make contact through a PM to me

The last time I spoke to your Dad I shared and spoke about my plans for July & August and that conversation is still fresh in my mind even his ideas as to what I have for a US GJ member came with 1/2's (full) approval and a laugh. When we spoke last Andrew it was hard for me to believe what had happened so quickly. You have my number and you also know I am always willing to help you in any way I can and if not you have many members here on the GJ that may also be able to help.

I look forward to the day you either visit Sheddwellers or I can visit you at the Shed Down Under.

After visiting Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, I went to Charlottesville Va to see the historical buildings. Came across this little jewel hidden in a backyard shed and had to share. c837efdcaaa0460cb257d25b576eb0b6.jpg

My QST stickers arrived recently, looking forward to getting one on the toolbox. Have also expressed an interest in one of the cast plaques as well, have something special in mind for that in memory of 1/2 Cup.

I don't know that I have an acceptable place in my shop to display this, but for the time being it is on my drill press:

Oh ****. I'm sorry I've been absent for a few months. :( I spoke to Steve on the phone a couple of times before embarking on building my own engine, and his encouragement and advice both then and on many other occasions on here was a huge help, and I always enjoyed seeing what he was up to. His is the first thread I've looked up to catch up on when returning today after an absence. Very sad to hear that I missed all this. What a great guy. I'm very sorry to Andrew and your family for your loss. :(

I'll ask this kindly to all members. This is now Andrew 357's topic. Anything on the stickers and castings should be posted in the Free Parking topic. We are seeing a lot of double up postings in both topics and in respect for our Mate 1/2 I do believe it should not happen. Please kindly consider what you post and how you post it.

Both Gary and Andy have topics you can post thanks to if you have got stickers or castings.

:thumbup: Thanks Guys :beer::)

Simon, I deleted my post along with a double up post in Free Parking.

As highlighted in the quote above yours, Andrew 357 asked us to post pics of the location in our special place on this thread. Does your request override Andrew's request? Should we also not post our standout item/comment/moment with 1/2 Cup?

Hi Andrew,
You know what ? I can't think of a single stand out comment from your dad that I could narrow down to one.as there were so very many !!!
But, that's beside the point.
What I can think of is that your dad , bless his heart, would acknowledge even my most inane post (usually , with my poor attempt at humour) with a "LOL , Coolabah" . So , I knew I could just josh around with your dad and he would understand. Might not sound like a lot , but it is a huge thing. I am very sad that I did not ever meet your dad .
