:thumbup: You sure did do it justice. Would have been good with the body of the A in the for ground but that makes a great photo.

Pity I did not grab my camera and take a shot myself. :sad::mad::willy_nil

That's some nice old tools you have there.

I really like that shave (top in pic) with the interesting profile.

Tune that up and put a nice edge on your next Red Gum table!

They are both from my grandfathers stuff as well.

It looks like I have to do a Red Gum top for my sons dining table, he has an outdoor table that he currently uses this has a concrete top and its a four man lift. I am thinking taking the concrete top off his hand any way and craft a set of legs to suit then plonking it in the middle of our front lawn as a garden table.

You better believe it, really loves the drive.:thumbup: and it doesn't take much encouragement I might add.
Most weekends she is in Melbourne showing the pup, yesterday she showed at Shepp and won best of bred then she's of to Seymour next weekend.
The main reason I didn't go today is that I am in Melbourne for work tomorrow.

Hey 1/2 Cup... did you ever do anything with those insulators? I've got access to some and haven't come up with anything cool to do with them except bird seeders! :)

I have purposely left them on the bench so as every time I look at them I think mmmm or what if or should I do this or that. They are not a big priority until I finish some of my other projects first.

Certainly they would make a good bird feeder but these are my thoughts at the moment.
1. Light fitting incorporating an LED lamp either suspended, recessed or with a wrought iron sconce as a wall light. I would do these as a set.
2. Ornamental dish and stand.
3. Bonsai planter.
4. Candle holder.
5. Candelabra.
To name a few..

I hope you saw them all as they are spread over the last few pages.
The drill press was an ebay purchase - $40.. It is an Australian made Dawn unit. Dawn tools have been around forever and make some quality products like vises, clamps and the list goes on, once you purchase one of their products you have it for life...

I am slowly collecting a set of shanked drill bits to suit.

Lee, I have an original old glass shop counter with cast iron feet like the ones I used on the potbelly, my aim is to use this to display some of the bits and pieces Mrs 1/2 Cup quite often rotates my stuff in her displays in the house as well. Our house is a bit like a museum anyway..

I usually get "what's that doing in here?...take it back out to the shed and while you're out there, mow that grass" (insert sound of a whip cracking here).

Of course I'm only joking... ...the boss doesn't actually own a whip. :lol:
(Forntunately for me, my lovely wife doesn't read this forum).


By the way 1/2 Cup, I do love the old tools collection - I've never seen a hand operated drill press before.
If you had the space, you could set-up a small bench with the old tools on and about it.

Mrs 1/2 Cup is really good sport but she is drawing the line at the freshly painted Model A guards and jewellery taking over the Alfresco dining area.:(

I think I have created, in fact i know i have, created a mini me in her when she went to Melbourne last week end to pick up the stool for me that i had brought on EBAY she came home with a 50s dolls high chair and an old cane washing basket just to top up the load in the car, now that is something I would do.:)

Certainly my long term aim is to create some extra storage space so my stuff, tools included, can be displayed in a more sympathetic manner, plans are already on the drawing board as we speak and has finance commitee approval.

Works with my drafting height desk/ plan table.

And, I don't have to walk across the floor, I roll!

Thanks, one thing i have to do is fit a set of castors like yours. I am scouring EBAY at the moment to get something that fits the era and are not totally stuffed.
They are great stools, IMHO better than what you can buy nowadays.:thumbup:
