We have made the decision to utilise the garden shed for all my wood working gear, pretty much as yourself and sean buick have both done.
The garden shed is adjacent to the carport and should work well.
The key to this will be mobility and easy access to everything. This will free up the workshop no end.

I look forward to seeing how the shed turns out!

The garden shed conversion is scheduled in the third phase of the build Sean and the way I am going as a weekend warrior will not be started until early next year..

Managed to get the first of the trusses and an intermediate beam in position Sunday.

Establishing exactly where they would ultimately sit and look most aesthetically right proved to be an issue as the house is not square to the boundary line and the drive way runs off on an angle to the house by 4 inches in 30 feet. So it took a bit of "humouring" the situation to get the looking as it should.

I have always wondered why they don't build a house square to the ****** road. By the sounds of things yours is pretty close, mine is out by 2-3 meters.

The opposite boundary fence that you see in the picture is 60mm out and I thought I had issues!!

It should be a good day, roading in a new set of rubber and beading some new brakes, the car is getting a wheel alignment this morning just to try out some different settings and find out what works.

My eldest with his soon to be inlaws car " Henry " at Sandown Raceway, you cant get the grin of his face when he is racing.

I will grab some happy snaps and post later tomorrow.

Plate schemes are changing in many states.
Victoria has just gone to Digit letter Digit letter combination. Example 1AA-1AA as they ran out of 3 letter and 3 digit combinations. Example ZZZ-999.

Each state here is different and West Aust has a 7 letter and digit combination now.

I like to share what I do and the challenges that life brings to us all.

The thread gets a little of track at times but that's what it is all about.IMHO.

A few years ago I had a heap of plates from cars that I had brought an sold over the years ( they are supposed to be surrendered ) a friend of mine who works with a government agency actually took a couple of sets to be used in his surveillance work.

The car is an MG - 1947 TC road registered. It is super charged and is mainly used for club events like hill climbs and track days.

Your right its a lovely piece of motoring history.

I have to agree Coop

15 for your drivers test unreal, I went for my learners at 17 and sat my drivers test at 18. We are permitting learner drivers a bit younger now which is a good thing and they have to log their experience.

Its been a big weekend around here, Saturday I finished the intermediate beams to the Carport / Storage Solution build. The last three truss assemblies can now be installed.

This view is from the path in front of my neighbours. I hope you can get a bit of an idea where I am headed now.

Today we made the trip over to Winton Motor Raceway, many might know of it if you follow the V8 Supercars, to watch my eldest put the MG F at a fairly relaxed track day.

One thing is for sure I need a better camera than I have now..

Heading out to the dummy grid to line up following a session of Mrs 1/2 Cups driving instruction and mentoring. She was telling him precisely how he should be approaching the corners and when to brake. I can't say too much as she was spot on.

The Mini Car Club were also trackside and these couple brought back a lot of fond memories.

My son took a neat three second of his best time he had done around the track previously.

One second better than the previous owners time, so he was pretty elated with his effort.

Following the races today, I went to my sister in laws to pick up a Yamaha trail bike that I am selling for her on Gumtree ( our local Craigslist ) and also picked this old carpenters tool box and assortment of tobacco tins full of old style wood screws.

It was in an old shearing shed covered in stuff on a dirt floor, a quick check for co inhabitants such as snakes and spiders. I am yet to discover what lurks in amongst leaf litter and rubbish inside.

Looks like you did a lot over the weekend. You raced into some progress on the carport as well as getting to Winton for the racing.

The "carport/storage solution" is coming along nicely.

It was a Marque Sports Car Association event. The was pretty much every thing that had four wheels was represented on the day even a Hyundai Getz in the come and try event Lots of sports cars, Bowells, Ralt, Formula Ford, A9X, Falcons, Cortinas, Mazdas and the list goes on, well organised and had a great day.

I am chipping away at the build and nearly ready to order the roofing iron and pretty pleased with how its coming together Mark.

Looks like you did a lot over the weekend. You raced into some progress on the carport as well as getting to Winton for the racing.

Racing is right and that's only the half of it.

Lawns mowed, watered and front fence creeper trimmed Friday night.
Bunnings to pick up some more Record G clamps Saturday morning.
Shelbys walk around the lake.
Install a new power point for Mrs 1/2 Cup.
Picked up the bike and stuff from Mrs 1/2 Cups sisters place Sunday afternoon.
Lopped some over hanging branches from next doors tree Sunday evening.

I had another great score a week or two ago, another matching aluminium electrical cabinet measuring 4 ft 6 hig x 2 ft 6 wide x 16 inches deep.
The intention is to fix both of them to the back wall of the shed for a little extra secure and dry storage.

His best time was in fact a 1.53 as well. Amazing.
His previous best was a 1.56.
I have not had a chance to look at the data from the cars logger yet, should be interesting..

We need to look at diff ratios and suspension settings next.

That's a great time considering the power/weight of the car. My datto has about 165kw at the wheels and weighs around a tonne, I'm guessing the MG has a bit less power than that and possibly a similar weight, so to go 1.53 is impressive!

Anth, I am not real sure what its putting out, as standard they are about 90 kw.
The car was race prepped in Japan prior to the PO shipping it out here so I am not real sure what has been done to it internally.

It will be interesting to see how Mrs 1/2 Cup fares in it behind the wheel though. She does not like wearing hats let alone a helmet as it mucks her hair up so that's the next hurdle I have to over come.

Herb, you can follow me around anytime, it would be great to have another set of keen, like minded eyes to help.
I will need a few pointers with the carpenters box as I can for see that it will become a new home and display for all my old carpenters tools, it has a lovely patina and I do not want to loose that at all. (pics to follow)

Gerard, the plan is to mount them on the shed wall (left of pic) and up of the ground. When I built the shed 30 odd years ago you were not allowed to build on the fence line nor over a sewer easement. It is a fantastic area to store stuff for sure.
