Sounds like a couple of women discussing their favourite soap opera

And loving it:lol_hitti

Well to roll with the punches, I would love to see pictures of the rose in full bloom.

Will do Strouty.

Opens email. Clicks on updates and like you I am pondering - Am I on the GJ ?

Still it is supposed to be Spring here so a Rose in bloom can be a part of the works around the Garage I guess :lol_hitti.

Mind you I am still trying to work out *********** all the grass and weeds in my driveway after all the rain here.

Yep HOTFR8, that rose is an integral structural member of the carport.;)

The weeds are like something out of The Day of the Triffids here.

Hotfr8: Check out my salt kills weeds thread.

1/2:happy to hear Mrs. 1/2 is ok with new stone. Impressive being able to move it without machine too.

drives It was tough going but got there in the end plus a big tick from Mrs 1/2 Cup

OK. Although I am going to try a mix of Kerosene & Diesel when it drys out and light it with a weed burner. :shocking:

I have really got to consider what I use, the Rodents would lick it of the weeds. I may just try boiling water and see how that goes.

PS I may start a thread Gardening 101:thumbup:

EDIT No make that thread title Landscaping themes for Garages 101

Just to keep things in context.

I've been pretty busy at work (very little GJ time available), but I have just managed to catch-up on the shed down-under thread.

You've been a very busy boy again 1/2cup, and (at the risk of stating the obvious),... you have very large stones. :shocking:

I am the same Mark, busy at work and looking forward to a couple of weeks leave, many thanks for dropping by:thumbup:

There is certainly plenty on the go at the moment, all round.
The stones were worth the effort, my daughter in law asked if there was any more available but fortunately they were all accounted for.

I am not sure whether every one is aware that in Australia we are being connected to what is known as the National Board Band Network ( NBN ) which in our case we get a fibre optic connection to our home ultimately replacing the copper telco network.

http://www.nbnco.com.au/

Today we had our over head fibre lead and termination point installed.

1/2: A 101 thread for garage landscaping would be a great idea especially with you hosting it.

I bought a torch still new in box last April or maybe last year now that I was going to hook up to propane tank and burn weeds until I found out that salt does a great job and doesn't cost much. I didn't like the look of burnt weeds and neighbors that did their weeds by burning have to re do fairly often. Good luck

Congratulations on getting connected to a great infrastructure project. [sarcasm]I expect to see a similar nationwide upgrade in the US right after we adopt the metric system and Australia drives on the right side of the road. Of course whatever fibre cable standards Australia adopts, we'll issue an incompatible one. I foresee an additional bag when traveling to Australia, filled with power, network and NTSC-to-PAL adapters and converters....[/sarcasm]

HOTFR8 That's the idea, every thing. No more copper network. (in time)

I will keep you posted..

:headscrat OK. Still lost here........:headscrat How do you connect to the NBN ?
Do you have fibre optic into the house that replaces the old copper cable ?

The NBN north of me at Harcourt is all wireless network with an antenna on the building - house roof.

Hope you get to enjoy the NBN 1/2 Cup.
From what I hear from work colleagues it's a bit dodgy with a lot of outages and it seems to take more time for techs to fix than it's worth. :headscrat
In my case although we live in the NW burbs of Melbourne and it's all around us we're not even on the roll out plan. :dunno:
I knew I should have bought more Telstra shares and had some influence!

Watch this space drives.

The issue I have is that the Rodents will eat or lick anything I put down for the weeds, so I will give boiling water a try.

I am hearing you Bob, watch this space. You may not see me on the GJ ever again if it doesn't work.:lol_hitti

I am still working through the process myself as to what the next step is HOTFR8:dunno: I will keep every one updated.

Some areas are getting wireless and some get fibre I am not sure what the rational is behind who gets what.

Go to the Web site and type in your location may help.

Hope you get to enjoy the NBN 1/2 Cup.

greeen7racer From here on in it costs, I am still working through the mine field of options available.

A few of my mates have it on but most of the hassles have been with the installs and not so much the service. These have been fibre and not wireless at this point.

I already have a structured network cabling here and will be doing the install from the fibre termination point to the patch panel my self.

The roll out has been a bit adhoc to say the least.

I will keep every one in the loop as it progresses, have a good one.

Hey Cup how id the NBN connection speed wise ,I am on telstra cable but...doesn't feel fast enough (around 90 mbps download)...so please let me know ...

southern_tango I am on Telstra copper at the moment, not real sure just how fast it is but I will check.

I will keep you updated on the internal install process, we haven't had any notification yet. I have registered our address with the NBN and we get periodic notifications by email, however the notification for the fibre lead in came by mail.

Regards

Sure wish we could get rid of our network system. Almost as bad as dialup.
Another company just buried fiber optic lines in the ground next to our neighborhood but not to us. Argh.
On a side note it seems half of your country was on a Princess cruise in the Mediterranean. We just got back from a 25 year anniversary cruise over there and met lots of Australians and Canadians.

akdiesel, our copper service is not to bad here at home but I am looking forward to the fibre for sure.

It would be disappointing not to get it at your place. What is the procedure in your neck of the woods for getting connected.

Our NBN network connection is no cost to the termination point, but from then on it costs. Not sure how much that will be as I am still working through what our options are at this point.

Us Aussies get about the globe, I trust they did us proud.

25 th anniversary congratulations:thumbup: and what a great way to celebrate.

Thank you.
Not sure about the procedure to connect it. It would be nice to have the coax but we are on cat 5 phone system and it gets very bottle necked.

I am up to date! Now it will be easy to pop in and know what is going on.

I will say that I thought we would have more of the storage solution figured out and I am a bit upset that Ms 1/2 cup was not liking the shipping container idea. I found these cabinets years ago and I always wanted to make some, they just look cool.

Strouty that is one huge effort and many thanks for taking the time to read the thread in its entirety.

Mrs 1/2 Cup is the sort of person that likes to evaluate every option on every thing, she does have some difficulty in visualizing things. I am on leave next week and we are taking the 2 1/2 hour trip to Melbourne to make some assessments of what will work and will not work and we can make some executive decisions then......... I hope.

I luv those containers you have found, just awesome.

Two weeks leave. What plans do you have after 'Honey' list is dealt with ?

I am allowing myself about 1/2 a days worth of honey do s then Quality Shed Time.

Melbourne - inspect Storage Solution Options.
MG F - Race engine prep for rebuild.
MG F - Close ratio gear box build.
MG F - P&P head.
Under bench draws, that's if the stainless fronts turn up.
Conduit run for the NBN fibre optic cable install.
Get a hair cut.
Smell the roses.
Do nothing.
Walk Shelby.

And not necessarily in that order.

EDIT, 4 hours to go but who's counting.

Day 1 of annual leave.

Walked Shelby around the lake. It was a beautiful spring morning here and she loves her morning walks.

I mentioned a while ago that I was keen on doing a Solar Powered Electrolysis bath. The procurement has begun.

View media item 53563

I also tinkered with the MG F , removed the cylinder sleeves an started to detail the block and head in preparation for the hot bath.

Have a great weekend guys, I am.

Two weeks off to just play around, that sounds like a good time and I'm sure you'll get plenty knocked off of your list. Now about that 6 months leave, after the first couple you will have to find more projects as you'll probably get every one of your current projects done including the model T ;).
JB

Edit: We posted at the same time, I'm interested in that solar electrolysis system you have brewing be sure and post lots of info about it please.
