They look much better on my desktop than on my phone, but I thought they were awesome on my phone, so what does that make them now?

The bench is looking awesome. The draws will be a major plus. What gauge is the stainless faces. I have a counter with ss top. Neighbor just gave me a set of wood drawers that fit perfect and the ss face would finish it off.

Wow 1/2cup the drawers look great.

I haven't been on GJ much lately (not by choice - just busy), so I had to go back a few pages to catch up.

I really like your new switchboard too, quality work there - meanwhile, I run an extension lead out from the house!!!

And now that you've revealed a (previously) hidden talent, you may have to go by a new nickname (in true Aussie fashion) - how about "the flying sparky".

...This is a crazy mate off another forum with his Hydroplane. Balls of steel and a healthy dose of craziness :wtf: He's got some other neat toys as well.

Thank you Mark

Love your nick name:thumbup:

I have also been referred to as a lot of things that I can't repeat on the GJ and one that I can share is "Sparks will Fly"

Have a good one and thanks for dropping by

Nice work! It really is a challenging act, balancing between pegboard, drawers, cart etc. When you start to see the finish and how it should be, your focus/interest on different kind of work and tools changes... So the work is never finished :)

Thank you also for your kind comments Matias:thumbup:
Now that the Drawers are installed it has opened up all sorts of possibilities in the shed. I like to call it A Process of Continual Improvement and its like a fine wine, improves with age (that's my theory anyway);)

You're welcome I'm glad I could be some motivation.

With out doubt Gerard and thanks again:thumbup:

Have a great day everyone.

So now that you can't call it ugly area no. 1, what are you going to call it?

I bet you are more excited than we are, I know I was when I finally got my drawers installed. Trying to figure out what goes where is the real challenge for sure. I will be interested to see what and how you put things away.

Strouty, In one word it is now "Finished"

I have completed filling three drawers:

1. Knick Knacks like pens, pencils, keys, scissors, scribbers, etc all neatly arranged in their own containers.

2. Measurement stuff. Verniers, Tape measures, Dial indicators, etc.

3. Soldering station and all its accessories.

I am now looking at what is next, but its coming along nicely.

Have a great day.

What is this word you speak? Finished? What does that mean? It must be Australian slang, can you translate it to English?

Finished = Done and dusted, she will be right, we can close the lid on this, its all over red rover, drive away no more to pay or I have had enough and I need to move on to bigger and better things.

I think it means he is had enough of that and going to start on something different. Will see what the next update tells us.

Finished could also = I have set the standard for the rest of the shed and all the other Ugly areas around here.;)

Have a good one guys.

I commend your desire for continuous improvement and we surely enjoy watching it happen but, "other Ugly areas", you don't have any from what I see. Keep up the great work!

Thank you very much rmalkow

There are a number of areas still left to go, but they are to some degree but they are largely dependent on getting stuck into the Storage Solution at this point in time.

Some of the relatively quick and easy ones would be my timber storage tidy up.

This Is UGLY AREA No.2.

This could be a candidate for the GJ Hall of Shed Shame

So this weekend is out as I will be helping my eldest remove his old kitchen ready for installation of a new one next Tuesday.

The MG F race engine is nearly ready to start reassembly as well. I have made a start on the head port and polish as well.

Have a great day every one and thanks again.

What was the saying - No project is fully finished until you are 100% happy with it.

100% correct HOTFR8:thumbup:

Material storage is an area that always seems to be a challenge 1/2. The good news is that you have some space..just need to apply some of your shed organization to it :)

Dennis, material storage and in particular timber has always been an issue for me. Keeping it dry and laying it flat takes up space and that's why I have tended to use the top of the shelving. Then you have the problem of accessing it as needed and usually the piece that you need is at the bottom of the stack.
The problem could easily be resolved by using my off cuts as fire wood but that makes for extremely expensive fire wood.:shocking:

Or I could just drop every thing and use what I have to make more benches;)

The timber storage will certainly be my next focus area.

Have a great day everyone and thanks for dropping by.

1/2: i built a hanging shelf from my garage ceiling for the first 20 years i lived here for long lumber and pipe. not sure if you have room, but it looks like you might. pretty simple to build just bolt a few 2 by's to the ceiling joists and run a 2 or 4 by across to each then either a plywood shelf or use the lumber you are storing to make a shelf. i had mine 7 foot wide on one side and 9 on my wife's side and they held a lot of stuff.

i'm guessing you might have something in mind maybe inside those new storage sheds you are going to build in the carport?

thanks for showing us that you are human even though we can still put SUPER in front of that term if you compare yourself to most of us.

cheers

drives, Thank you for your suggestion.

I was in the shed last night after work and seriously thinking of your idea and I believe it will work. There is certainly enough structural support there to achieve a suspended storage for the timber.

There would not be a large load in any case.

I do have some Unistrut, Unistrut fittings and suspension rods that I can use to my advantage.

The timber storage was a little ways down the list and I have not even considered what I was going to do with it until now. I am not real keen in using the storage sheds to store timber.

This is my steel rack out the back of the shed which I am reasonably happy with, although I do store some steel in the shed.

From just an average Aussie bloke, in a typical Aussie shed in a typical Aussie back yard that loves what he does.

Have a great week end every one and thanks for dropping by.

I hear you. My goal is zero material in the shop. I have two 40ft shipping containers about 5 minutes away...but I'd have to truck bits back and forth. These guys used 120 of them to build a hotel..so perhaps I should rent them out for $$$s. Ha.

http://www.cbc.ca/m/news/canada/thunder-bay/shipping-container-hotel-1.2937005

Dennis, That would be my ultimate goal as well. As much as I would love to have a container we have very limited room on our block, so I am trying get what we have in order. The drawers have been great in that regard.

I will just keep chipping away at things as time permits.

My dad is having a garage sale soon an I already have a trailer load of stuff just from the rearrangement with the draws last week end and it is amazing with just a few things in there place how much room I have gained.

Thank you for dropping by.

A bit of sad news today, my Sister in Laws rental went up in smoke earlier today. The fire raised three bedrooms in the home, fortunately every one is ok including the family dog Rex.

From all reports the fire was the result of an " electrical fault '' and most likely a lap top computer power supply.

We will be able to get access to the site tomorrow to see just what can be salvaged.

Every one is pulling together to help where we can. It has been amazing the community support that the family has received thus far.

If there is a lesson learned:

Smoke detectors save lives and every thing has an OFF switch.

Regards

1/2: i've always wondered if the chargers for phones and laptops would get hot enough to ignite. sorry to hear that your relatives were the unlucky ones because i leave mine plugged in all the time. glad to hear everybody got out and hopefully things will be ok in short order with your and the community's help.

good luck

also great idea with the unistrut that i might use if i do it again because the cross 2 x 4's were sagging a bit on the 9 foot span. also much easier to get the right height and put together.

cheers

Saddened to hear about your sister-in-law's loss, but the good news is everyone is ok! So very unfortunate, but it sounds like she will have a lot of help and support. Best wishes on the recovery!

Sorry to hear about the fire. Glad everyone is OK!

Unistrut is the way to go. When I'm done using the rolling frame I made, all that strut is getting repurposed into storage shelving between the ceiling joists...

I often wonder how many cell phone batteries, laptop chargers and UPS are the cause of fires. I have had close calls with all three of those..the worst was a UPS that was physically smoking..at our new building.

It is a great story indeed that everyone including the dog escaped unharmed :) With today's news in France, it's nice to hear a story where the outcome went better.

Those racks out behind your shop are pretty typical around here :)

Sorry to hear about the fire and property loss 1/2 cup. As others have said, very glad to hear no injury or loss of life was involved. Things and stuff can be replaced. I hope your inspection gives a clear reason and evidence for the fire.

Thank you very much for your support and kind words, it is truly appreciated.

Here is a picture of two of the three bedrooms at the rear of the house that were gutted in the fire. It started, took hold very quickly and was extremely intense. The Country Fire Authority brought it under control in a matter of minutes limiting it from spreading to the front half of the house. Well done guys.

The lounge, kitchen and laundry are still intact but there is a lot of smoke and water damage.

My Sister in Law and niece are doing well, thanks to some generous community support she has received and Rex the terrier is out at my eldest sons.

Just a reminder:

Smoke detectors saves lives

Every appliance has an OFF switch.

Just how easily this could have had a very tragic outcome.

Thank you all, again.

Sorry to hear about your sister in laws fire, but glad to hear everyone is physically okay.

I had a mate go through a house fire. Even the stuff that wasnt burnt was badly smoke affected, it was just in EVERYHING. They could barely salvage anything.
