Morning mate,

Table is neat, and I think I may have said it before, I love those mounted clamps.

They make life a lot easier.

Off to the scrap yard this morning for a rummage.....m:D

Thank you Rian

The clamps are just fantastic.

I must confess to regular visits to our metal recyclers it is amazing what gets tossed for scrap.

Great job 1/2 Cup!

1/2: i've finally quit smiling after Lyndon's comments had me laughing out loud and noticed your awesome welding tables. i finally figured out how you could get a bare Dawn vise to be painted OEM red in a day with stickers and realized you have a Dawn vise on each welding table. YES?

one with red original paint and one you are thinking about painting or using BLO?

ok and sorry for all the questions about your holidays, but gotta know which Queen's birthday you celebrate? i'm guessing Victoria since you live there and have a city named for her or do tell?

Just raining and 40's here today and sun isn't quite up yet.

enjoy the day and keep a third eye on the RODENTS.

also not sure you like old US Rock N Roll music like i do, but Don Powers posted this on the Membership thread and asked if Nines lived there. had me humming tunes in my head so just passing it on.

cheers

Yes two vises, both the same Dawn 125 ( 5 inch ) the one on the Fabrication table has been stripped back to bare metal and the one on the small Welding table will be left in its original factory finish. I will be giving BLO a try on all my bare metal stuff, currently I just wipe things over with Kerosene or CRC and don't have too many issues with surface rust.

The Queens birthday we celebrate is our current Queen Elizabeth.

We should get to a nice 84 F here today, it is nice and fresh 70 F here at the moment.

We are out to lunch today and are looking for a pleasant afternoon kicking back and relaxing with family and friends at my SILs 60th.

Thanks for the heads up on the thread that Don put up, I will be dropping in for sure.

Have a great day.

Are you going to use that exhaust manifold, on that nice flowed head? I thought you'd put headers, or at least extractors on it? :dunno:

Might have to find space for and invest in the gear for a bath like that, especially as you use a solar panel on it..... Do you only use it during the day.

Keep up the great work.

Lyndon
Enjoying a relaxing cooler Sunday morning (after reading the papers and having half a croissant for breakfast).... :D

Lyndon, the manifolds are off a prewar MG TC, the engine I am working on is a something 90s MG TF with a Rover K series engine.

I only use the E bath during daylight hours although I could run it off a charger if needed. It is a great thing to have.

I just toasted raisin bread this morning and looking forward to big feed at lunch time at my SILs 60 th.

Have a great day.

Happy Australia Day 1/2 Cup!

Thank you Coop:thumbup:
It was a fairly lay back four day week end, I got stuck into things in the shed on Saturday with Sunday being my SILs 60th turning into a fantastic day with family and friends, some of whom I have not seen in years with many dropping in to say g'day on Monday and Tuesday so I just went with the flow so to speak.

On the MG F K Series engine build I have been starting to get down to the nitty gritty and measuring up all of the new components. So out of that I have had a rethink on the valve spring selection ( two different sets) that my eldest had opted for when he purchased the bits late last year, the new set being ordered from the UK yesterday.

The new Omega forged pistons will need to have the valve pockets enlarged by .75 mm to accommodate the oversized valves and the debate is on in regards to modifying these or get another set of pistons??

In the meantime he has refitted the injection manifold back on to his existing engine so the car is basically prepped for his first race next month or be it with the old engine.

Have a great day every one and thank you for stopping by.

Please accept my belated congratulations on the day of Australia. Great results with electrolysis treatment. I also want to try to do the same with your rusty pieces of iron.

Many thanks Vieux:thumbup:

The E bath is fantastic, you should try one. They cheap to build and produce some great results in rusty iron.

Your electro bath works great. Nice job.
A couple of hours soaking in the tub allows you to knock out some other tasks you got lingering around.

Cool place your brother has there. Gotta love those Flatheads!

rmalkow Its a nice place to work in for sure.
I counted a least 15 early flathead v8s this morning.

What are the plans for the Flatheads ?

HOTFR8 those two are for customers, one goes in a 35 coupe as I understand.

My brother builds engines for a living amongst other things, in particular he builds engines for the 350 class of jet boats.

Every time I look at this thread I say to myself, "man I need to setup an etank" I still have not set one up, but man do I need to!

Your brother's place looks nice, he must do a bit of engine work to have a dedicated space.

Strouty, the more I use my E tank the more I wish I had done it years ago.

My brother does do a lot of engine work as well as general repairs and such. He is also in to historic racing and has a Kurtis Craft and a heap of Offenhauser engines just to top it off.

He imports quite a bit of old school v8 gear, vehicles and I saw an all alloy Oldsmobile engine in one corner.

Is that real Hilborn type injection on that small block or modern electronic made to look old-school?

Nice set up - I like the test stand.

Mark, yep that's a genuine Hilborn set up.

The test stand is a neat set up, we ran the engine this morning and is just sat there no issues at all.

Have a great day guys.

PS It has turned quite cool here and in the last two days have had two inches of rain which we desperately needed.

Your brothers shop looks nice and clean 1/2 cup. Have you tried to con him into starting a thread of his own ? I'm sure plenty would be interested to see some of those engine builds.

Cheers GB.

GB, he has a great set up for sure. I will try and encourage him to start a thread but he detests computers. Failing that I will take the camera out every time I go there.

Wow a Olds 215 V8!!! Don't see those very often. I believe used in the first turbocharged production car.
Note to self. Stuff engine in suitcase, fly to Australia, hang out with 1/2 cup while brother builts engine. Oh, and bring a big bottle of Scotch.
