I was past the Holden museum a couple of weeks back and it looks like they are open for business.

Good to hear that it's still there. The boss and I, and her sister and BIL are at Eucha in 2 weeks time for 10 days on a house boat out of there. I'll be posting updates. If you are in the area come up and have a beer before we go, or maybe even on ANZAC Day, which we'll be doing back in Eucha on the correct day.

Thank you drives I just trimmed the rail to suit, reset the existing mounts and fixed them ( bolted ) to some small corner gussets.

The colour is a bit deceiving it is actually what is call Heritage Red and it matches, well nearly any way, the Dawn vise and Bench clamps OEM colours.

I am thinking of doing a similar arrangement on my Fabrication Bench with Industrial Switch gear.

Regards and thank you for dropping by.

That table is fantastic. I never gave it a thought how handy it would be to have a mobile work bench. My next bench will have casters attached. That must be very convenient to roll it to where you are working.

It could also be handy to roll to where you're not working, but want to make it look like you are........ Get where I'm going with that? :dunno: :dunno:

Hide the beer! :shocking:

Nice! I'm sure that'll be real handy!

That reminds me, I need to go pick up a small welding table from a buddy's place...

Coop, the table is great to use, nice and stable as well.

I still have a couple of mods I need to do in time:

1. I want to replace the castors with Urethane types like I have on the Fabrication bench

View media item 34843
2. Fabricate a some of holders for the angle grinders so that they are off the work surface and easily accessed.

3. Get A set of magnetic TIG & MIG torch holders.

I could not loan my bench out like that it is just so handy to have around and the mobility aspect of it is tremendous in my small confines:thumbup:

I'm sorry - what a great idea who's was it?....?
Lyndon
Yes, I'm watching you grab the limelight.....

Credit where credit is due Lyndon:thumbup:

Lyndon, good one. You should enjoy yourselves and it should be a great escape.

Looking forward to seeing your updates and I will have to put that in my calendar for sure:thumbup:

If you end up at Torrumbarry Weir drop into our visitor centre there.

Thanks Lyndon and no doubt I will be in touch.

Thank you Dan:thumbup:

I have to say having mobility with most of my stuff gives me great flexibility with how I tackle projects, I don't have a whole heap of room in the shop as it is currently and I do 99% of my dirty work be that wood or steel outside.

Another of my mobile fleet, the Utility Table

Repurposed from offcuts with an Australian red gum top the was salvaged from our back door step.
Angle iron from one of our window lintels.
Square tube - old offcuts.
Total cost - $40 for the castors.

Strouty unbelievable, we do not see goodies like that in our scrap yards here. If I were closer I would give you a hand with that for sure.

I am hoping that there will be some interesting bits, but it is from the 80s so it may be too old to have any real value. Also if you were closer I would gladly accept the help!

Adding the power to the roll around table is nice for sure, looks great, I still can't figure out how to plug anything into those outlets though... :lol_hitti

Nice work on those tables 1/2 cup!

Love the red casters as well!

Thank you very much Sub, appreciated.

I will be getting another set to put under the Small Welding Table, they are as smooth as silk, cast iron wheels, swivel with brakes and made in China but very happy with them. They sell for around $85 AU per set.

Thanks for dropping by and have a good one.

Thank you hewey:thumbup:

I am hearing you on the Big green store, I think it is more to do with their staff training and product knowledge.

The Kobalt unit looks great and not badly priced as well.

I just hate to see things go to land fill that are still perfectly good. I actually stripped it to check the internals and it was like new.

Thanks for dropping by and have a great day.

Well, the house closing is getting near. Now you'll be a real estate magnate like our Donald Trump. Seems to me the engine rebuild needs to be taken over by your son so the GJ B&B can get opened for business. I hear Lyndon is providing transport for all visiting GJ members.

On a side note, instead of the frontier look for new shed, how about a 1930 looking garage for the Model A.

Shorty The close is getting closer by the day, we have a pretty busy couple of months coming up with one thing and another. Mrs 1/2 Cup has been able to bring the close forward to next Monday the 11th with the final inspection this Friday.

Donald Trump.....................not this black duck:lol_hitti

I still have a head of hair with no comb over.:lol_hitti

So the drop in B&B will be open for business a week earlier than planned.:)

We are expecting the MG F engine to be back for the machine shop balancing Friday as well so I have spent some time over the weekend spring cleaning my benches and packing away projects so I have room to move. I am taking charge of the build so the responsibility of getting it right rests with me as my son has never built an engine before, that said it will be a mentoring opportunity moving forward.

You idea with the new shed has merit and I must put some thought into that as well.

Mrs 1/2 Cup has several dog shows coming up just to add things to the mix. We also have our No.1 Grandsons 4th birthday party in Gosford north of Sydney the following week, Mrs 1/2 Cup is doing the 9 hour drive a few days earlier and I will fly up for the day on Sunday and drive back home on the Monday.

Thank you for dropping by and have a good one.

Hi 1/2 Cup
Just dropped in to see whats been going on down under, since I've been a little lax looking in on you.
I pulled up your last page and your mobile work bench hits my eyes hard.
What a beauty. So I scroll back a page to catch up a bit and see your little welding table. (I just sold a pole vice like the one in the background)

It's nice to catch up a little and find all seems well
Take care and I promise to check in more often

Don

Black Ducks ! It is Duck Season here. So some time away (is that called Q.T.A?) from the Shed Down Under. I wonder if he will see the Pilots seat?

HOTFR8, I was under the misapprehension that Black Ducks were a protected species, evidently they are not and apparently Freckled Ducks that are protected. Oh well.:lol_hitti

QTA it is, long story but Mrs 1/2 Cup and I have traditionally taken it in turns to trek up to Sydney as it is a logistic nightmare for us to get away together. We have had change of dates, the house settlement, work and family stuff all happening at the same time and I was resigned to the fact that this still would be the case and gave it no more thought until she had changed the settlement date to the 11th ( informed by email at work ) any way later that afternoon I received another email confirming my booking on a flight to Sydney on the Sunday and arranged our eldest to baby sit the Shed Downunder while we are away.

That's the short form version in a nut shell.

Not a Duck Shooter so I can not answer.

More likely that will be Shelby and the Rodents and not the Shed. :lol_hitti

Great looking vise. The fact that it's your grandfather's is priceless.

Have you been able to determine manufacturer?

You may have to come up with a bigger tank for your solar electrolysis tank!

It comes from reliable sources HOTFR8 the Freckled Ducks are protected so I stand corrected.

You are right on that score, guess who does not have access to the Shed Downunder while we are away.;);)

It is priceless I can assure you Riven and no at this point I can't find any makers marks.

I have a few other tools of his that have not seen the light of day for some time so it looks like another project or two is looming.

A few weeks ago I built anther solar E tank for my son and he has upped the anti in terms of tank size so it will fit in for sure.

Thanks for dropping by and how are things going in your neck of the woods?

Either way protected or not I know one Little Black 1/2Cup Duck that will be flying and enjoying Q.T.A. That 4th only happens once so it will be Q.T.A. and Q.S.T. will happen after you have enjoyed some time away.

It most certainly will HOTFR8, the time with our second son DIL and No.1 Grandson is just so precious to us.

Hey 1/2 Cup,

I've been meaning to take the time to read through your thread since you responded to my intro post a couple of years ago.

I hope you don't mind me digging up old posts and responding to them, but I'm only on page 3 and you've made me smile.

I'm really enjoying the read so far mate, which is a good thing, because I've got another 163 pages to go!

Apologies if you've already talked about this, but what's the story behind your screen name? Are you a "cup half full" guy?

Go for it Mat and I am humbled that you are taking the time to read the entire thread, much appreciated and enjoy.

Nice tables and really useful.

I don't believe that I have actually spoken about where 1/2 Cup originated:headscrat

It started at my work place many years ago, I am not particularly fond of a real hot coffee or tea and I like to drink a drink and not sip a cuppa because it is too hot. I love my morning coffee, and being off a dairy farm love my milk as well.

My ideal coffee is pretty much 1/2 milk, strong and very drinkable so at the time one of my work colleagues latched on to that fact and so the name sorta stuck.

Many thanks for dropping by again and have a great day.

Thanks 1/2 Cup,

It's a great read, a great inspiration, and a huge distraction! I'm looking forward to getting to page 166 so I can get some work done

Great story about your nickname, I like it.

So long as you don't mind me responding to old posts...

I've got a mate who's a professional gardener who told me that the best best lawnmowers in the world are Victa mowers with Honda motors.

I've got one too (mine's a Corvette!)...

I picked it up second hand from a guy who was selling it for his sister who's husband had passed away. I was so excited, and he was so happy that it was going to somebody who would appreciate it, he tried to give it to me for free. I paid the full asking price, and still felt like I was ripping him off.

Mat, just go for it this is the great thing about the GJ, I am more than happy for anyone to respond to old posts, in fact I encourage it.

I really like my Victa and yours is a great score and a nice gesture as well on your behalf.

I service mine annually, blades, plug, filters etc and have usually had a good 10 years of great service out of my Victa.

I also use an Atom Lawn edger which is just the bees knees Millimeter perfect edges every time.

Thanks for sharing your Corvette it looks great and should serve you well.

Have a good one and thank you for dropping by.

Thanks for sharing the origin of 1/2 cup. I for some reason had a different explanation in my mind. Though it might be that you were one to look at the cup as 1/2 full instead of 1/2 empty. G'day 1/2 cup.
