The new place looks fantastic with that eyesore tree.

And the West Wing looks great now too.

Like most other people have said. The removal of the palm has made a huge difference.
The street appeal has increased massively. Lucky the previous sellers didn't make it look so good

Nice clean slate in the west wing. Are you going to do anything to the floor before you start moving bits and bobs into it ?

Rain stopped play here at 16:30 just as I got to the washing vehicles list item, but at least it held off enough to get all the lawns and yard jobs done.

1/2: I know you probably already thought of this, but as i'm getting closer to having my little 10 x 15 home garage ORGANIZED I wish I would have put in a few more electrical switches and lights. are you planning on working over there and if so maybe get the wiring where you can use it and even plumbed for air if you want to use the compressor in the corners before you do like it have done and put tons of stuff in the way.

Everything looks great and keep up the great work. keep us posted as you have time and just take lots of pictures.

Just between you me and the gatepost I am glad that the POs didn't do to much to the home as it has given us the chance to put our own stamp on it.

GB yes it has been a productive day, I was buggered though.

Good question on the floor, it is in not to bad a nick. I was looking at it yesterday and thinking that it would look good painted so consider that is another job on the list.

You could send some rain down this way it has been as dry as chips here. I am hoping we get an Autumn break soon.

drives at this point in time I have no real plans to work out of the shed, just purely storage.
It has one 4ft light and one power point. I have heaps of lights an power points that will ultimately end up there at some time.

I have decided to have some time out and actually head across to Winton with Andrew to give him a hand today. He did some respectable times yesterday, but after doing a tyre rotation he was having trouble getting them to stick to the newly laid track so tyre pressures will be the focus today given the cooler conditions.

I will spend some time with my dad at the ANZAC DAY dawn service Monday then head back to the Returned Services Club for breakfast.

Dropped over to Winton to see how Andrew was fairing in the Super Sprint Series this morning, his first run saw him equal his PB of 1 min 50.


Coming out of the Esses on the newly surfaced track.

On the last lap of the first of four runs for the day saw his throttle cable break, we missed his second run while we repaired it. I thought Minis were a challenge to work on but you should try a mid engine 1996 MG F.Grrrrrrrr.

The cable was too short and in a real mongrel of a place even to get your fingers into, real fun ( NOT ) on a hot engine. Then the throttle butterflies would not fully shut to idle on the fuel injection, so a quick trip into Benalla to get a return spring and some good old fashioned bush mechanic techniques saw him back on the track to complete the third and forth run with similar times to his PB.

A great day all in all.

Are you replacing the fence top post with a new one or is there another plan you have? I see you removed it instead of straightening it.

one of the reasons we want to find or build a home that isn't very big with a huge shop is so the kids don't think they can move back in long term. we are more than happy to help them out in tough times, but also want them to have the HUDSPA (sp?) to tough it out and figure out something on their own.

hope your normal crazy days at work on Monday isn't too bad today and i'll be ORGANIZING a few of my new wood blueprint cabinets. take a peak at the weight loss thread and you'll see what followed me home yesterday. I call it EXERCISE and my Mrs. loaned me her garage to stage them until I set them up in my small shed.

That fence top post literally fell out, so I am replacing them all with galvanised post caps. Mrs 1/2 Cup has volunteered to repaint the fence the same colour scheme, picket by picket.

You are so right the West Wing is taking up a lot of my time but I still consider it an adjunct to my Quality Shed Time in a funny way as the Shed Downunder plays an important part of the process.

Karma, did go to a loving home. Mrs 1/2 Cup is having separation anxiety as she is keeping in almost daily contact with Karmas' new family.

Bit by bit we are getting there with the West Wing, still a heap to do mind you.
I can't tell you just how good it feel to have that extra space even though I have had a chance to move much in there yet.

Next time I am up at the museum I will get some of my own pics, my uncle is a volunteer there and has his 1930 Model A roadster and 1927 Chevrolet tourer on display as well.

The bush mechanic fix on the throttle cable worked a treat and it was a team effort.

Andrew didn't show up with the MG F after the sprints, so I am guessing he took my tacit response as a No.


Mrs 1/2 Cup is almost a lethal weapon with a tape measure in her hands, however I have learned to cope with that in my own way.

Both of kids have planted their own seeds so to speak and are making their own way in life now. The both of us are very proud of how things have turned out for them, that said it has not been an easy road but as parents you do what you have to do at times.

I will check out progress in your weight loss thread as well.

We have a public holiday here today to commemorate ANZAC day and back to work Tuesday.

Riven, it was a challenge, limited resources and time was against us. I even removed the spring out of the wiper arm to see how that would go but it was way too stiff and made the accelerator pedal too heavy so Andrew made the trip in to a hardware store and brought back an assortment of springs which in the end lasted the day.

The one on the left I picked up recently has a copper body and I am looking forward to hitting it with the buff wheel.

1/2 Cup I finally got some down time to visit and I have to say your grandfather's wagon is a beauty to behold. My dream some day is to be able to pay the tax man and put up some more buildings to house many of the things I wish to keep inside but can not simply because there is no room left and county taxes are formidable. Do you plan on restoring the wagon or leaving it with history in tact? Always great to see the history of those who have loved enough to keep these treasures in the family.

Steve, I remember replacing the throttle cable on my mid-engine Fiat X1/9. I thought I would replace the housing as well and ordered both. Six hours into it I realized the cable housing had to be the first thing on the assembly line with the rest of the car built around it. I left the old housing and just gave it a bath with WD40 and installed the cable with some graphite lubricant.

A mid-engine car is a wonderful thing but not family friendly unless the family is two people.

I'm very impressed with the condition of those extinguishers. They look like someone already took a polish wheel to them. There won't be a lot of time involved to give them a perfect shine. Was someone throwing them out?

I'm glad to see that Bobby (bolensboneyard) finally stopped over here. I know he's the type of guy that keeps himself very busy.

I am not planning to restore the wagon but just leave it as it is and conserving its beautiful patina.

I have seen many a treasure really ruined with a restoration that just was not sympathetic to its origins. That said on the other end of the spectrum I have also seen some magnificent restorations.

Bob, the MG F is similar to your Fiat in that respect, we will however replace the whole cable.

My eldest priced it on line yesterday and the cheapest he could find was $200 for the assembly.

Family friendly, not in a million years. You would struggle to get your weekly shop in the trunk.

However its just ideal for the track, that is if you never have to work on it.

The middle one looks like it has had a coat of clear at some point.

The red one was picked up from my SIL place and was going to scrap, the brass ones came from my Dads and had been languishing in amongst a heap of stuff in a cupboard in his shed so I swooped on them before they got tossed out.

It has been great to hear from Bobby, we have a lot in common for sure.

I try to get things functional without being invasive but if it requires function and involves work that will take it more than a third of the way to a restoration to make it useful I will usually just restore it. Tools are another matter. If it is for use and not show, don't believe I have any for show only, then I will try to keep it as is; unless it started out as a rusted piece of junk that will not function.

Now that sign is a ripper. I will change the timing some what to reflect Shelbys' agility as she would do that in a flat five seconds no problems.

Take two small rodents + garden and add water = a regular occurrence around here. I couldn't be certain that is the secret to their success but definitely is the secret to their cheeky attitude.

funny i'm probably more like your wife and love the little guys and my wife is like you wondering why they take up space. i would adopt Shelby in a minute though if she didn't already have a great home and Dad.

i know you are swamped with work and new shed time so just wanted to kick your thread up from page 3 of GJ so others can see all your amazing STUFF.

if you don't have any of these old LYON bins for nuts, bolts or this and that's you might want to find some. I drove about 400 miles yesterday to drop off some white oak i had that he needed for a project and only thing i found on my way to stop and buy were these 10 bins. i'll be smiling when all my HUGE NUTS AND BOLTS are in their place and ORGANIZED.

i found a decent spot for now and as you see they fit on a stout shelf nicely.

don't worry about posting and just take lots of pictures while you work away getting the new place in order. the guys and i will keep busy here without you as you've seen before. of course when you are in the mix it's always better.

also had 3 eagles circling above my shop a couple days ago just above my head and by the time i got my cell phone out they were pretty high. a couple flaps and those guys can go miles. get any EAGLES down under?
