good luck and as always a pleasure stopping in and checking on you. it's 80's here today and too hot to pull weeds and pull out old stuff stored alongside the house so we can get new siding up, but the BIL and his son are stopping by tomorrow to pull down the old eaves and replace with sanded plywood and after caulked the siding goes up. about all we have to do it pick the paint and be at the ready in case an emergency or bug problem arises. I probably could have sided the house myself like I did on 1/2 the house, but those two have been doing several siding jobs lately and they have the right tools for Hardy cement board. i'll let you know in a few days how it went if not daily since I tend to stop in the Shed for a breather and a good read quite often.

I believe things should work out ok with our prospective tenant.

My Applications for Long Service Leave are in and at this stage I will be taking three weeks off.

The weather here is a bit of a mixed bag at the moment, little coolish in the mid sixties with cool nights, some rain, wind and some sun shine at times but overall reasonably comfortable and no extreemes.

All the best with your new siding and it is always great to have a hand when you are doing jobs like that. Looking forward to seeing an update.

Strouty, having everything labelled is a godsend, it also gives a nice look to your containers.

The drawer liners are great, I have not gone to your extent of cutting out foam as most of my equipment is in their original containers or in plastic compartmented containers.

Actually all our Roses have done well this year, they have really complimented the home. We prune ours around early August and it about time fertilised them for the last time of the season to get that last flush of blooms before winter.

Shorty, we do get some strange people around here at times, but what happens in the Shed Downunder stays in the Shed Downunder.

Great news on the vise break. I have both Aluminium and Brass soft jaws but I also need a set of those plastic ones as well, just so I cover all contingencies.

I think the tool cabinet is a must have all the same.

PS Its 7.00am here and I am at work, well put it this way at work on the GJ for a quick minute. I start early here in any case.

I know you are a pretty good judge of character and you probably work with an amazing bunch of guys and just a heads up. some of the people I rented to that showed up as I was cleaning up with cash in hand that seemed nice and all were my worst tenants. I didn't have much history on them so if you have some good background and feelings about your Co Worker and MRS. 1/2 CUP approves then hopefully all is good.

of course except for the B & B idea for visiting GJ members.

I will certainly keep the thread updated, I was down in Melbourne yesterday doing a Factory Acceptance Test on some control system switchboards which was a long day.

I have a couple of meetings today and a few loose ends to finish off then I am out of here.

The Lotus cylinder head that Andrew dropped off is an uprated version of his Rover K Series head that I recently modified. We will keep that as a project for another day at this point in time.

Just catching up on the last few pages. sounds like everyone has a little bit going on, but as usual, your plate is always full of interesting tidbits, 1/2. Congrats on the 3 weeks off, sounds like you will be quite busy, but with stuff you enjoy doing.

drives, sadly my Mum passed away some 10 years ago now at the age of 70. We miss her every day.

She left a lasting legacy for sure.

The family usually visit her grave on Mother Day with fresh flowers and spend some quiet time thinking of her.

Andrew decided to include his off track excursion in his clip, he just lost it in the marbles and became a passenger.

His lap times were still around his personal best.

Driving on the wrong side of the road comes natural for us guys downunder.

I have driven a couple of left hand drive cars ( Model A and 67 Mustang )
on our roads, now that is a challenge out here in particular negotiating a round about.

Pictures can be misleading as I could loose a few pounds to maintain my girly figure.

I am generally pretty active at home but sitting behind a computer at work over the last few years is a trap and not conducive to loosing those extra pounds.

We eat pretty well and Mrs 1/2 Cup is very conscious of a good balanced diet.
I do not eat a lot of sweet and fattening foods however I am still a sucker for a nice meat pie.

So Day 1. Mrs 1/2 Cup has a two day show with the rodents here in Shepparton just a couple of minutes away from here.

6.30 am Take her gazebo out to the site, stake a claim, erect the Gazebo, set her goods and chattels up.

7.15am return home, pick her and the rodents up, return back to the showgrounds, unload, fit walls to gazebo at her request, grabbed an egg and bacon roll which was to good to resist.

8.30 am return home and that's my good deed for the day.

PS I might add I washed both of the rodents last night for Mrs1/2 Cup in readiness for today. Both of them really needed it, being long haired dogs they tend to pick up all sorts of mud and flora ending up at times just like mobile compost bins with four legs.

Steve, My year of driving a RHD postal truck in the US prepared me for driving a vehicle from the right hand seat so driving in Australia was a little less daunting. In fact, driving on the proper side of the road in Australia was a joy for me and I felt more comfortable behind the wheel. As an exclusively right handed person I loved having the turn signal lever on the right side of the wheel. I adapted so quickly that even 25 years later I sometimes turn the windshield wipers on when I go to signal in my American cars.

It was especially confusing on a couple of visits to the British Isles because they, like us Yanks, have the signal lever on the left side of the wheel. At least in Scotland it was rarely embarrassing to turn on the wipers to change lanes because there was liquid sunshine most days.

Bob, driving my Minis years ago was the same, the indicators are on the left hand side as well and for a long time after I was still turning the wipers on when I went to turn, embarrassing at times when you get tooted at.

I can only imagine just how daunting it would be to transitioning to driving on the other side of the road.
We have a new Electrical Engineer that joined us six months ago, she is French Canadian and quite often goes to the wrong side of a vehicle to get in as a passenger, that said she has adapted well to right hand driving.

Day two following a successful day for Mrs 1/2 Cup in the show ring with the rodents on Saturday where both came out with more points on their way to an Australian championship and Stevie taking out Best of Breed and Best in group Mrs 1/2 Cup was fairly stoked with their performance in the ring.
Expecting rain over night, I went to the show grounds and partially took down the gazebo so it would blow away over night, leaving the frame on site.

The rain started here at around 3 am and has not let up all day. So 7 am this morning saw me putting up the gazebo in the rain then return home and picked up the rodents and Mrs 1/2 Cup, back to the show grounds, unload then back home soaking wet. The rodents performed well again today given the conditions and score a bunch more points as well.

Mrs 1/2 Cup returned home looking like a drowned rat, at lunch time and I returned to pack up her goods and chattels in the rain again and yet another change of clothes.

In the meantime on Saturday I was able to get some time in on the gardens x 2, trimming x 2, edges x 2 and lawns x 2 and with the 3/4 inch of rain we have had saved me from watering duties for a bit.

Last night I made a start on the MG F engine much to Andrews relief.

One part at a time so it will be a fair process as the Rover K Series engines are unique in terms of their construction.

Water pump done and dusted.

That was easy.

An now for the tricky bit - the crankshaft clearances, so that means a full assembly, strip, check, clean again then reassemble. They are basically a sandwich of the head, block, crank cradle and bottom oil block.

Day three should see me start on the West Wings electrical upgrade, that is the plan at this point anyway.

It has been a long time between drinks it has been as dry as chips with little or no rain in the catchments we have been looking at our dryer than usual conditions at work strategy..

The engine is going to be a steep learning curve for me, it is just so different from what I am used too. One logical step at a time and Google is my friend
