1/2: is that how you get so much done? smelling the roses and the good wine and IPA's at the end of the day get's the body ready for anything you throw at it the following day?

as has been mentioned some of have TO DO or HONEY DO LISTS that have had stuff on it for a while and i heard months mentioned. hell i just made a brick planter that my wife wanted 25 years ago this summer so i'll admit to maybe needing a lesson on not only making a TO DO list, but how to check them off.

have a great weekend

Ha! My weekend to-do list is longer than yours (probably because I don't work it) :dunno:
attack or some do nothing time, I focus on that just the same.

Likewise have a great week end your self...

shorty, I really do try to focus on what I have to do and get done. The same goes for if I choose to have a slack attack..:)

Well Shorty, that'd be why your list is so long. I can't criticize you as I have things on my TO DO list from months ago. I try to convince myself you shouldn't rush into things that you know you'll love to do because once it's done you don't have it to look forward to.:dunno:

# As usual there will be the non-negotiables, but subject to change without notice…:D Thanks 1/2 cup:thumbup:

Dan, That's one thing I do not stress about, if it doesn't happen there is always another day. The key here is to enjoy what you do.

I also have a wish list of projects aside from the weekly list and if I get time or choose to tackle one of them I do as well and just go with the flow..
Hope you have an enjoyable weekend.

drives to answer your question in one, yes.
Its for me a question of having balance in your life. I just take things in my stride as much as possible. Sure we all get the odd curve ball that comes out of left field from time to time that changes things some what and indeed in some cases fairly dramatically. Take what nines is going through at the moment and ponder that thought for a while.

Any way thank you one and all for dropping by.

Enjoy...........

 Looking good 1/2 cup.

Very nice! Coming along very well!

Thank you Gentlemen :thumbup::thumbup:

The engine certainly looks the goods but the real test will be when we put it on the Dyno.

I have felt like I have achieved heaps this weekend without even trying.

The engine To Do List for today:

. Lifter install.
. Set valve clearances.
. Install camshafts.

If I get that far today I will be doing well.

Andrew is away this weekend and I sent him some pictures of my progress, given it is his 35 th Birthday, judging by the photos and comments he put on FB, I don't think he could have wished for a better present to celebrate.:3gears:

Again thank you one and all.

Have a good one..

Finally worked it all out. No wonder I never get as much done as you as I always get dragged away on weekends.

Lawns mowed, was the only major to do thing for the past week and I did that yesterday between weekend events.

HOTFR8, the main thing is that you enjoy what you do..

If I had the Model A on the road, I can assure you the to do list would shrink some what.

Thank you for dropping by and have a good one..

1/2, what's stock HP, and what's your official dyno prediction? Having access to that sort of post build verification is pretty awesome :)

The engine is looking like garage jewelry at this point.

Dennis, To be honest I am not 100% sure of what the stock HP would be, I believe they were around the 100 KW ( 143 HP ) but the Dyno print out gave us a good bench mark of the " old engine " that indicated it was pretty much stock and a little down on out put.

It is a little difficult to speculate on what the output will ultimately be yet Andrew comes up with a different figure every day.:eyecrazy:

I do have to admit that it is nice Garage Jewelry at the moment.

I wonder how fast a model A could go with that engine. :3gears:n

shorty, good one:lol_hitti

The Rover K series may just look a little out of place in the Model A.

Thank you guys for dropping by ...........have a top day/evening.

Yes I guess so. If you do not enjoy what you are doing it is no fun. You do need to get that A on the road and enjoy it. Many of the events are a lot of fun and make getting back to work a lot easier.

Would need a gearbox, differential, brakes and chassis to take it all.

My guess is that you've read "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintainance". Many of your projects reflect an unusual commitment to quality...it's refreshing :)

Dennis, I have never read that at all, perhaps I should..

Thank you:thumbup:

All that I can say to that is that I try and if I don't get it right I try again:thumbup:

I guess my upbringing with my Grand father, my father, my Mum and my old school trade teachers have played a huge part in how I approach things now.
A big part of my role at work is Quality Assurance on projects and co- ordinating Asset Management helps as well.

Thanks again for you kind comments, they are truly appreciated.

HOTFR8, I know, I know but these other projects keep jumping in the way.;)

Shorty, maybe we'll need to drag Bobby (bolensboneyard) into this and see if we can persuade him into finding that out for us.:lol_hitti

Dan, Agree.;)

Thinking Bobby would be up to the challenge.

Nice engine, 1/3!

Andy, he would do it with his eyes closed.

Thank you guys.
I do have a spare Model B engine with a counter weighted crank that will find its way into the Model A to satisfy my need for speed....

Have a good one...................

Rover K Series update..

We have issues,

I dry fitted the new cams last night for the first time, just because you do and low and behold even though they fit ok they are not for the conversion to the mechanical lifter set up we are running as ordered.

Long story but the short version.

The new ones are on their way from the UK as we speak and the supplier is replacing them at no cost.:)

As a post script we have taken the opportunity to uprate the cam shaft spec to the latest offering from Piper Cams on their advise to better fit the rev range we are hoping to achieve.

Glad you were able to catch it and get a great upgrade. That's how to do it! No problems, only solutions...

The K looks a treat, I enjoy watching your work come together. Great find on the cam, that could have been really bad if not caught now.

I've never heard of a stretch bolt before so I'll have to look that up, but the engine certainly looks like shed candy. Well done.

Sounds like the suppliers have been good at least getting the correct parts on their second turn sorted.

Cheers GB.

JB, thank you, I am pretty pleased with how the engine has come up.

I should have checked the cams earlier as the issue was easy to spot. The front and rear support journals on one of the cams was a different size to suit a different variant of cylinder head.:eyecrazy:

GB, we have had some fantastic support with the build, nothing has been too much trouble, whether that be just pointing us in the right direction to giving us great service..

To put it simply a stretch bolt is set to a tension by tightening it such that it stretches to a set length rather than tightening it to a torque. Clear as mud?? I trust this helps..

G, stretch bolts are used often to attach cylinder heads. I'll let 1/2 elaborate on that :)

Thank you Dennis.

So, when do you suppose it will be in and fired up? All this work looking at it is making me get anxious.

Terrick, your anxious??? I am not that far behind you.:shocking:
We should have the cams here this week or so and another couple of days of QTS should see the build complete and I thought my work was done.:headscrat

HOWEVER

Things may get a little complicated around here over the next few months.

1. Andrew and Amy are expecting their first in early November.

2. Cameron ( our youngest ) and Briana are expecting their second mid October.
Mrs 1/2 Cup has to go to Sydney and look after Jayden ( our no.1 grandson ) while Cameron is in Hong Kong for a weeks work in a couple of weeks so I am on Rodent duty.

3. Andrew has two more race meetings to finish the season off on the "old engine" and I need the injection system to complete the new build.

4. Andrew is in the progress of doing a make over on his bathrooms at his place and let me tell you his mother Mrs 1/2 Cup and Amy are cracking the whip on that front...

PS guess who has been harangued into doing the electrical and helping out with plastering and tiling and naturally it has to be completed before the baby arrives.;)

5. and just when I thought I was getting of lightly with the engine build a fully welded MG F Cup car engine sub frame arrived here at the Shed Downunder on Sunday. So that's something else I have to get my head around, a suspension rebuild.:shocking:

Then there is the West Wing, carpets go in tomorrow.

So to answer you question..............:dunno:

Have a good one.........

Now what happens to the old carpet ?

You cut it up to workable size so you can use it when working on that A Model or for that matter any painted part. Also good for dropped bolts as they never get to far away and if you have to get down on that cold concrete floor it is easier on the knees and the back.

If it is too far gone it is also great to kill weeds.

Great work you and your wife have done 1/2 Cup.
I hope you get a good tenant that will look after the house.
With the amount of work that has gone into it I'm sure you will be happy to start getting a return on it.
