It has been a fantastic few days with all the familly here, we went out for dinner last night.
They are catching up with other friends today and will return home on Friday.

I have just been going with the flow so to speak over these last few days, I must say it has been a great break from work..:thumbup:

Messy wiring is one pet peeve of mine let me tell you:mad:

I will be able to remove at the very least 1/2 of the harness that is not required in the race car.:thumbup:

I will be doing a bit more on the harness today, it is one of those time consuming jobs to get it just right particularly with moulded OEM terminal connectors, not like the good old days..

Our grand kids are just the best and its testimony to their upbringing.:thumbup:

Steve, with most of four days left, I'm sure you've already found the perfect gift. I have no clue and I usually buy the wrong thing, exchange it for the right thing and then return the right thing for a cash refund, which I turn over to my beloved wife so she can spend it her way.

The traditional 40th anniversary gift is a Ruby. The modern gift is Garnet but it turns out garnet sandpaper is not the "right" gift. This site has some suggestions:

My Dad celebrated his 84 th birthday yesterday so it was all out for yet another full on familly function at a local restaurant last night :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

1/2: i'd love to help you, but i told my bride to be 28.9 years ago that the rock she was getting on her left finger would have to last her for a lifetime. i know she didn't think i was telling the truth, but to this day it's the only piece of jewelry i've bought her.

so my 30th is Jan. 23, 2018 and somewhere i'll have to do a countdown cause we will be empty nesters by this time next year and the kids won't be able to distract her.

speaking of the kids did they drive down for Gramp's BDay or for the 40th or both? a great dinner with everybody at her favorite restaurant should go a long ways, but what to get the gal that has everything including your heart is a good question.

i'll leave that to you to figure it out and i'm sure whatever you decide will be great.

the birthday party and all the kids in town sounded like fun.

also BIG CONGRATS ON 40 YEARS MARRIED TO THE SAME WOMAN!! :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

I thing the safest bet would be some flowers and out to dinner where we actually had our wedding reception. We are planning to get away to New Zealand later this year to celebrate the occasion in any case.:thumbup:

The kids came down just because they could which was just awesome, having Dads birthday in the mix was an added bonus. They have left for the trip home this morning and we spent some time helping pack and seeing them off.:thumbup:

Two days to go..

It has cracked the 100 f here over the last few days so its A/C on in the shed, with a little QST I can now get back into the MG F wiring loom make over. Nothing too strenuous.:thumbup:

The engine harness has been a fair pain mainly in respect to getting the proper schematics for that particular model of MGF as there are a number of variants.

I have totally unwrapped the whole thing now, identified each connector and removed a number of them that are no longer required, this has made the loom at whole heap easier to work with starting from the end and working back to the ECU and firewall multi pin connectors.

It looks like another hot one here today so I intend to get some QST today which will be a mix of the MGF and general tidy up stuff..

40 years is a rarity these days. Hope to get there with the missus one day!

My grandparents will hit the 70 years married next summer with a bit of luck as their health has been sub optimal.

1/2: congrats again on not only making the right choice in picking your bride, but also for hanging in there for 40 years. my wife was married to her first husband for 13 years and it will be 29 for us later this month. i waited to marry my DREAM GIRL until i was almost 32 and by the time i was 35 we had 2 teenagers (her's from prior marriage) and 3 kids in diapers.

from what i've seen the past year or so while watching your thread you two are a GREAT TEAM and i want to say again it's been a pleasure getting to know you.

my wife has been doing wedding invites all week so if she finishes today we'll open up that Australian rum we got from some friends a while back and with some fresh mint make some MOJITOS and tip our glasses DOWN UNDER to a very happy couple.

here's to 40 more if that is possible.

We did it and for a change I did not forget..:thumbup:

I was up early today and posted a simple message on Mrs 1/2 Cups FB page. She woke up later and I didn't say a thing about it being our anniversary, let alone being our 40 th and just went about our normal daily activities.

She then checked her emails and then I received "Now that is lovely, thank you for that." it made my day.:)

I have spent some time reflecting on those past 40 years we have had our ups and downs, tears and laughs, brought two sons into the world, watched them grow, get married and we now have three grandsons.:thumbup:

I wouldn't change a thing.. :thumbup::thumbup:

Never too late to say Congratulations.

I do wish my life had panned out very differently but it is what I have.

I am always pleased and happy for people who manage to make a life together. Getting through life's struggles and hanging together.

So well done means a lot more than just a nod to a number. Its a lifetime made through thick and thin which I suspect you had your fair share of.
