Oh my!

I am very happy to hear you are on the mend. Seeing my little brother struggle with chronic fatigue after his battle with the C. You have all my respect for making it this far. I hope for both you and your family that you see the end of it and all its side effects.

Keep up the good fight - even the little battles and I wish you a speedy recovery!

Steve, know that you will remain on the prayer list until you are 100% well. One of our group started praying with us when she was diagnosed. Different cancer same fun facts. She is now 10 years cancer free. Get well and plan that trip to the U.S. to see all your western friends. We will make you feel like a hero returning home from battle. I rarely speak for others but feel safe in making this assumption. Stand tall! There will always be someone looking up to you! Bobby

I have been way out of the loop, but hearing of your illness through drivesitfar
I went straight to your thread. I offer everything of encouragement to see you through this and I am praying for a SPEEDY recovery! I do know the problem as we had some of that in our own family.
My very best to you Sir, and I am standing by to see you over it and back to normal!!
God Speed.

Best Regards

Hi Steve
6 weeks ago I heard of your situation and mentioned to you that I believe in the power of prayer and have mentioned you in several.
It's great to hear from you and to hear that you are on the mend of a long journey. Know that you are loved and missed around here and look forward to your return and lively encouraging comments.
May God bless

Steve, in this day and age...
  • phones are wireless,
  • cars are keyless,
  • tyres are tubeless,
  • youths are jobless,
  • relationships are often meaningless,
  • our leaders are shameless, and gutless,
  • many babies are fatherless,
  • education is valueless,
  • food is fatless, and tasteless,
  • everybody it seems, is restless,

BUT, just when it seems that everything is becoming less ...

Please remember that sometimes, LESS is MORE:
Our hopes for your recovery are endless,
We pray you remain fearless,
And that your hope remains doubtless,
For here you never will be friendless,

And though:
You may becoming hairless,
We hope you will soon be symptomless,
Always live life to the fulless(t) (okay that's a stretch)
Your courage has left us breathless,

We pray:
May your garage never be toolless,
Your hands never graspless,
Your vision never dreamless,
Your blessings countless,
Your joy ceaseless,

And I ...
... am finally speechless....

GET WELL SOON!

Great to see you back on here Steve, I've really missed your regular posts.

I haven't been through it myself, but I've seen somebody close to me go through the cancer treatment process and I know it's not a fun road.

Sounds like you've got the right attitude though mate, and you've got a lot of people on here cheering for you.

Yell out if there's anything we can do to help.

Steve, I've been away for a few weeks myself and have come back to hear the last thing I wanted to about what you've been going through. You know how I cherish our "world apart" friendship. You are a tough "black duck" (as you have called yourself) so be determined to be as tough as you've claimed and kick this thing in the ****. My daily prayers will go out to you and your family. Take care mate.

To all,

Again, we are just in awe of your kind thoughts, support and prayers.
Just overwhelmed by it all to be brutally honest.

Again, please accept this as my/our personal thanks to everyone.

I had my Specialist visit, X-rays and bloods this week and it appears that the collective power of the treatment, everyone's kind thoughts, messages, prayers and best wishes have combined to show a significant reduction in the Cancer sizes.:bowdown:
The specialist actually took us through all the before and after X-rays and scans which were just amazing as you do not often get to see inside your self..
The nett result being I do not have another session of Chemo for another couple of weeks with some follow up Radiation a week or so after that. This will allow some recovery time between, still not out of the woods yet but it is encouraging to see things are heading in the right direction.

• This week has still been a battle with the fatigue and expect that to last for a few weeks yet.
• My throat is still giving me some grief when I swallow, due to the radiation burns, but I am noticing a daily improvement without medication in that area.
• I am still having trouble speaking but as above it is improving little by little every day.
• I have been trying to get up and about as much as possible just to keep things moving so to speak.

Note to file : Slim your post is pure gold, it gives us all something to ponder, thank you..

Thank you one and all, enjoy your week end.

What great news, Steve!!

Glad to hear it's going your way. Still a long trip but as we all know attitude is very important in recovery and seeing progress improves the attitude.

Slim put it very well, didn't he.

We will continue to pray.

Somehow your thread has not died. Could it be the widespread admiration and respect for the thread's author?

1/2 Cup,
So good to see this update and to hear you can enjoy some good news and progress in your healing process. You will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. Right now, continue to make your daily time, QHT = Quality Healing Time! Resist the urge to be the "doer" and let others do for you as you focus on getting better. Be blessed.

Aw shucks guys. Y'all are making me blush!:eek::eek:

I'll second what Andy said!
"Somehow your thread has not died. Could it be the widespread admiration and respect for the thread's author?"

I haven't posted much on GJ lately, but I try to keep up on a few threads and yours is the first one I look at. I had a rare bit of inspiration when I caught up on your thread and it just came to me ... I sure didn't think it was as special as y'all make it sound.

I'm real glad to see you back again Steve.

Hope you're over the hump on your recovery!

Cheers!

1/2, as a sufferer of mouth ulcers (140 at a time, to the point of loosing a kilo per day), I find that Fruche yogurt, just below room temperature, was about the easiest to go down with out ripping of the ulcer skins.
And it helped take away that chemical metho taste from my mouth.
Great to see you on the mend, it has really made my day.
Just remember what superman says,....up up up and better...or something like that.

1/2: great news and prayers are still heading your way JUST BECAUSE. AND we'll keep your thread going while you are busy healing and maybe we can get another member or two to write posts like Slim's that i'm sure made you smile a little.

post as you have time and I'm sure all of us miss your millimeter lawn edging measurements and other posts as much as you like posting them so keep looking towards the future and we'll all grow old together.

cheers and god bless you and your family

Dear All,
I would personally like to say a massive thanks for your supporting posts on dads GJ it's truly appreciated, since he has finally had the energy to post I can now say - yes he does log on and have a read.

I log on also to read some inspirational posts, and no dads shad shall not be toolless as dad still has X-ray vision and knows everything I touch or borrow (concent is always requested).

I've been busy at home with the normal family routine however the added tasks to my list are mowing dads meticulous lawns and QST with Shelby, keeps me busy but what ever it takes.

To give dad a change of pace I acquired a 1947 MG TC to break his routine - hasn't lost his ear for a car he jumped in and drive it not worries :3gears::3gears:

Again thanks for your support and dropping in!

Dads K-Series build update:

Well what a beast I'm still learning to drive the new car, as all my feel for the car is entirely new so I'm needing to adjust to knock down the lap times.

The bhp is nothing short of fantastic- 4 of the better Mg racing cars with rover k series engines have now ran on the same dyno- who's on top ....... dads !:rocker: Not bad for a first time k series I must say :3gears:

Few more in the shed he can tinker with in time.

Some pics from yesterday at Philip island

Thanks for the Phillip Island pics! Jealous about the TC, I've never been in one (though closely looked over over plenty!), but a TC or earlier MG is a bucket list car for me. My brother was running his MGF at a supersprint down at Eastern Creek today.

Andrew and Steve, medicine treats the illness but a special car treats the gearhead. Take an MG or two and call us in the morning. Glad to hear Steve is feeling better.
