1/2: great news and prayers are still heading your way JUST BECAUSE. AND we'll keep your thread going while you are busy healing and maybe we can get another member or two to write posts like Slim's that i'm sure made you smile a little.

If you go back you can find plenty of fun posts that have inspired posts like Slims. Just go back and look for my Men at Work Post "Shed Down Under."

Glad to see Steve out for a drive.

Andrew the weather should be improving there so it would seem like that would be a good weekly activity.

Now getting behind the wheel and going for a drive sure would be good (great) medicine in my books. Just so relaxing.

HotFr8: thanks for blowing up that picture so i could see 1/2 and Andrew in Andrew's cool new (vintage) MG. SWEET CAR and looks like maybe 1/2 might just be smiling more than a little too.

1/2: that parking strip sure looks great even though it's still winter in your part of the world especially since you now sort of control the West Wing's portion.

still praying you are going to get close to 100% especially if Andrew is going to keep bringing over cool cars and stuff for you to test.

cheers

Lol dad had a ball with the MG TC - I just gave her a service today so she is ready to run, the good climate will see dad giving the Tc a few revs around the streets that's for sure.

Anything to break his normal especially cars he should enjoy.:3gears:

Simon: Thanks for blowing up the original picture. I had not enlarged it because it looked to be an empty car.

Great to see the old man out in the sun. A drive like that does wonders for the soul. Good job Andrew!

That's the best picture we've seen of Steve. The drone shots were pretty iffy.

Get well, Steve!!

Yep. What Mark ^^^^^ said.

Good to see you up and about.

Don't try for too much, because the fatigue bites heavily.

1/2: you look pretty good driving that MG so did Andrew give it to you for spiffing up the engine or is that part of the signing bonus for being his PIT BOSS this year?

hope you are still feeling better and getting that SH-**** out of your system.

best of luck and still sending prayers your direction a couple times a day.

remember the monument i built on top of my kitty's grave last year? well i finally made time to sort of finish that area and i'm in the process of building a new cedar mailbox stand sort in the same style as my pergola.

cheers

ALL: speaking of tweaked trucks with lifts on them here's a member's crane truck that had a flat tire at 70 MPH and yes our member survived and so did his passenger.

1/2: another prayer or two sent. hoping you are feeling ok and maybe getting rid of this stuff soon.

XT: yep 2 guys survived that wreck and the driver is a GJ member that is about 60 years old. it had a flat tire driving down that road i think he was going 70mph and he mentioned it took all he could muster not to flip it in the ditch back up the road cause where he ended up was a gentle slope compare to the ditch(gulley) that he missed. makes you want to change tires a bit more often doesn't it?

ALL: i had this blowout coming back from an auction in my Honda pilot with it loaded and pulling a 5x9 Uhaul trailer loaded and kept it between the lines thankfully cause a big semi was on the right side of me.

cheers all

To all,

Just a quick update. Firstly it has been great not to have had a doctors, specialist or pathology visit for the past two weeks which is a hiatus between the cancer treatments ( the amount of treatment that I will require next will be dependant on the results of next weeks blood tests and CT scan ) and hopefully the after effects will not be as punishing as the first lot have been.

• I am still struggling with fatigue and have absolutely no energy at all.
• I must say I am sleeping well.
• The radiation burns to the throat have healed and I am not having any issues swallowing at all now.
• My speech has improved marginally at this point.
• Eating is still a big issue, mainly due to the changes in my taste buds ( a direct result of the Chemo ) although I try every thing that you would consider a normal diet it all still tastes awful so high protein supplements is it for a while to come whist trying not to loose any more weight than the 20 odd kgs I have lost already.
• Infection Control at this point in the treatment process is paramount so I have to be fairly careful in that regard.
• My acquired, what's known as, a "Chemo Brain" must be on the mend as I was able to complete a Crossword Puzzle yesterday.

So basically it has just been rest an more rest. Its a bit frustrating not to be as active as I would normally be but I just have to go with the flow however Mrs 1/2 Cup and Andrew have been doing a fantastic job in and around the home keeping up with the lawns and gardens in general to that end Mrs 1/2 has even taught herself how to use the new blower and has become a dab hand with the mower as well.

Sadly no QST as yet

I was pretty chuffed when Andrew turned up with the MG TC and privileged to take it on a quick drive down the main street ( the first time I had driven a car in 8 weeks ) Quite a buzz for this Black Duck..

Again, we are just in awe of your kind thoughts, support and prayers.

Have a great week end..

Drives, certainly lucky with both the crane truck and your blow out..

Great work on your mail box..

Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better..... Mind the doctors and hopefully you can put all this behind you in the near future..... Still praying for a complete and rapid recovery......
I envy you the ride in the MG TC.... My first sports car was an MGA, not nearly as well tuned as Andrew's cars, but still a lot of fun.... :3gears: :3gears:

Nice to hear from the Black Duck. QST will come in good time.

HOTFR8, I guess I am just getting a little impatient and my mind is a little ahead what the body can cope with right now..

Lynn W, thank you.

I actually do feel better in my self, however I am still struggling to do too much physically and run out of puff in two steps so it is steady as she goes.

I love that vintage of MGs as they really personify the pre and post war eras and have their own characters.
Driving the car was a real buzz:3gears:

I have to say with all the MGs around me now I feel there is a conspiracy going on to transition from the Model A to an MG:dunno:

Well you learn something every day and today I found out you and I share the same middle name........'Impatient'.

Like you I do not like to just sit round and I like to be active but in your case I can see you have to be patient. As I stated before QST will come in time.

Steve as stated keep up the good work doing what you have to and not overdoing. Think of it as the most important rebuild you will ever undertake. The bed and table are your benches for now. We are all looking forward to the finished product's posting once you have completed your work.

I'm excited too, to see your posts!

Bobby's right, this is an important rebuild. Glad you've got good doctors.

My son in law had much more severe radiation damage during his bout with throat cancer and yet over ten years has continued to regain some taste. Patience may be in order recognizing continued improvement will be in your future even after you feel you have plateaued at a new normal.

Chemo brain is sure no myth. My wife struggled with that for years and has finally settled out of it. Glad you are seeing progress, that is so important in your attitude to be seeing improvement.

Keep up the good work and keep us posted. Each of us think our prayers are helping fix you so we need updates.:3gears:

One would think one could pilot a drone with little physical effort...

1/2: first of all thanks for making the effort to post up your status, progress and telling us about your support group which we sort of figured was as solid as a rock. as you can see we are all pulling for you to GET HEALTHY so you can play with your tools as we all get older.

also thanks for the kudos on my little mailbox stand that is getting bigger as we speak and i think my bride is getting anxious for me to finish it too so here's some cedar pictures of me prepping the 8x8's i'm using for the stand's posts (yep i had a few sitting in a pile that should work nicely).

keep posting as you have time and we'll all be here sending prayers and good wishes and maybe even keeping the SHED DOWNUNDER thread alive until it's maker can start posting more pictures of his adventures and chores himself.

take care and may god bless you and your family.

1/2 Cup I echo all the others here that we are so glad to see you make the occasional post here and glad to hear of the improvements you are seeing. It will feel like a slow road back but just keep relying on the good family you have around you and the doctors working for your recovery.
As was said, QST will come soon enough. I bet that MG was just a blast to drive. I've always loved the look and design of those cars. Get well and know that you are in many prayers for continued healing.

Prayers for you daily on this end of the planet. Like an old Warrant Officer used to say:

"Fight them till your ****** as a bull"! Never quite sure what that actually meant, but that guy usually stood tall!!

Prayers and Best Regards my Friend!!
