Wow, nice work on the grinder (I was going to say "nice restoration" - but I'm sure that it never looked that good when it was new).

Good to hear that your health is steadily heading in the right direction too.

Much smaller market here of course, with a total population less than the state of Texas, in a country the size of Brazil- so some things can be hard to get unless you're prepared to pay top dollar, and in undervalued A$ as well.

I regularly find good "parts" tools in local dirt markets at good prices, but that usually means that instead of cannibalising a parts tool to repair or restore one I already own, I end up with another tool to repair.

Talking of rabbit holes...

Ralf99, agree that Australia is a much smaller market.

I am hearing you in regard to finding good Donor tools and that is exactly what the grinder was for in the first place.
So another tool repair and makeover..:willy_nil

Mark, thank you.

It most definitely would not have looked like that when it was new..

All, I had a surprise visit yesterday from HOTFR8 who had been to the Kyabram Mack Muster

The event was only about 1/2 hours drive from here. I was great to catch up and have a chat one on one..:rocker:

The grinder looks great. With all of the restoration I think it calls for a climate controlled shop instead of a cabinet. You can thus save the expense of all the cabinets.

When I get within a half hour of you I plan to stop by as well...

Being a 1/2 hour from him it was easy to detour and pay a visit. I may have spent the full hour with him but it was great to catch up. It was not a half hearted consideration and well worth it. Great to see a few things first hand again and see what is going on.

HOTFR8, Its a pity your visit was not a bit longer as I could have taken you around to my brothers place and a few other hot rod haunts as well that I am sure you would enjoy..:rocker:

1/2: nice to see that Fr8 stopped by even if it wasn't for very long.

sorry to bother, but I'm betting you might have a few more pictures of the baby RODENTS and maybe a bonus video or pics of your drone's flights?

cheers

Drives, It was certainly a great catchup and it sure beats email and phone calls..

No bother at all:thumbup:

I will post a pic or two of the # Gen 3 Rodents in the next day or so.
They are all doing well, eyes are open, putting on weight and are only just starting to get mobile now.

I have not flown the drone for a few weeks now as it has been fairly full on at work so its time to schedule in a refresher flight or two..

Thank you yet again and have a great day..

1/2: as busy as you are getting I think it's you that is the one it's hard to set down and take a picture of, but thanks for taking a minute to take a picture of the new Rodents and Evie. VERY CUTE INDEED and i know Mrs. 1/2 and maybe you too are in for a lot of work once they get mobile.

good to hear you are kicking on almost all cylinders and i'm still sending a prayer you keep improving cause i think we need to see another engine rebuild and maybe the Model A finished in the future.

here's the QUEEN (we washed my daughter's dog's bed and guess who wants to put her mark on it that it's her's now) of our house until i get the new fence built and then maybe we'll get another cool dog. how do you and Mrs. 1/2 like Australian shepherds? or maybe we'll get another golden retriever cause it's been 11 years since our last one passed.

How cute is that. Cassie is now ten years. She would love them.

Bobby, thank you they are real cute at this age..

Your Cassie would love them for sure, they are as funny as when they get mobile..

I love animals, and those are very cute "rodents", but I'm glad its you, and not me. They're so much like work.

xtremek thank you:thumbup:

They do keep you on your toes ( literally ) We really enjoy having them for the fist few months of their lives. Mrs 1/2 Cup fusses over them like you would not believe..

Drives, you are probably right, even my Boss said I was to go home early today..:dunno:

Its fun, even though its a lot of work..

I do feel a major project coming on or maybe finishing one or two..:eyecrazy:

Your Queen looks mighty comfy there..

Both breeds are great. Shelby is a Belgium Shepard and is a really high drive dog that commands your attention all the time otherwise she muck up.

Thank you one and all, have a good one..

All, I have been pottering away at my stand for the cold saw.

I stitched it all together today, there is more to add at this point.

That is going to be one heavy duty stand when you are finished. Looks like the famous 1/2Cup standard of quality! Looking good.

Steve,
Excellent work on the stand for the cold saw!

Jon, thank you.

It will look a little more presentable with a coat of paint.

Looking good Steve. Do the wheels lock?

Bobby, thank you.

These are the type of castors with brakes I will be using, at the moment it is just sitting on one of my dollies.

They work well, even on my fabrication bench.

Grinder looks great Steve, and the cold saw stand is coming along nicely!

Andrew, thank you..

The stand took no time to stitch together but I still have a bit of peripheral bit to add to it as yet, like the mounting plate for the isolator switch and some adjustable in and out feed roller arrangements.

Bob thank you.

It does weigh a lot even now in its raw state. I was able to salvage the saw locating plate from the original stand ( the rusty angle on top ) which saved me a lot of mucking around.
Just on that, the original stand was pretty rough an not easily moved.

I intend to paint it in the original Brobo colours just as the saw was..

Than you one and all, have a good one..

New stand is looking stout! Are the sides tapered? Did you bend them, or cut and weld them?

I'm still in love with your fab table, and the shop is looking great!

Riven Thank you .

I will not bend or fall apart in in a hurry.

The angle is all bent, its off the old stand.

The stand has the same build heritage as the fabrication table all cut and welded on the matting edges only and not across the faces as it tends to bend the RHS.

Thank you for the visit..

1/2: i had to look at your cool new stand a few times before i realized my OCD was ok and that you just set your very stout and well built stand on a steel framed dolly. wow that looks heavy and should work nicely for your new saw once you get the casters on and the saw in place. also nice save on the upper mounting frame.

it looks like you're back to work almost full time and still getting more stuff done in your spare time than some of us do that are retired. keep up the great work and now that food and drink are tasting maybe a bit better are you still gaining your weight back cause you were far from overweight before you lost about 30 kilos (60+ pounds?)?

take care and love seeing all the progress and i'm assuming Mrs. 1/2 is getting very busy with the rodents that keeps you both smiling.

cheers!!

That stand looks decently sturdy. I bet you have some of that nice blue paint left over to match the saw too.

Planning on adding some in-feed support or do you have some other plans for that? Otherwise some receiver tube style 'sockets' welded into the top frame could work quite well to hold removable in and out feed support brackets of matching sturdiness.

I really like those castors Steve.

Bret

Bret, the 4 " castors are great. They ride nice and smooth plus the brakes work well.

Drives thank you.

The stand is real heavy and almost a two man lift even at this stage.

These last few weeks I have been back at work full time all though under my terms and conditions. The weather took a cold turn yesterday and I really felt it so I knocked of work early to rest.

I am up to 143 lbs ( 65 kg ) now and my appetite and taste buds are pretty much back to normal 7 months after the Chemo and radiation. I still have quite a few pounds to go mind you.

Since having the steroids I bruise very easily so I just have to be very careful even bruising up against some thing.

The # Gen3 Rodents are all doing well and have just been introduced to solids. They do keep you one your toes and are so much fun..

Guster trust me it will not fall apart and yes I do have enough blue hammer tone left over to finish it off..

Yes in feed support is on the agenda, there is a little wear on the saws vice base so I need an adjustable arrangement to compensate for that until I get the base milled perfectly flat.
I do have a couple of roller setups that will adapt easily to the stand..

HA! You could have worked your entire career under your terms and conditions and never had a dissatisfied employer...
